20 mil was a pretty lofty goal in the first place. They're doing fine, and Pokemon/Smash are definitely going to do big during the holiday season. The bundles are certainly going to help, especially if we get good Black Friday sales.
A meme is normally just taking two other memes and smashing them together, which were usually just a screenshot and line of text which most of the time results in the most basic of punchlines. Rarely are they creative or original, and most of the time they appeal to the lowest common denominator. When I have kids I'm definitely going to sit them down to watch great stand up comedians and shows like Whose Line is it Anyway, and I'm banning this "dat boi o shid waddup" nonsense teenagers are laughing at these days.
I'm a huge Smash fan who plays the games casually and enjoys items on and crazy stages just as much as 1v1 Final Destination and no items. It's definitely one of my favorite franchises, but I don't force it down other people's throats. I also don't follow or use memes because I believe they're a plague and a terribly cheap form of comedy, if you can call them that. I might have agreed with you if you hadn't resorted to that condescending and immature last sentence.
The Grinch leak is just called that because the leaker showed promotional material for The Grinch along with the Smash stuff for more credibility, he isn't going to be a playable character lmao
I agree, I'm playing through Night in the Woods and it's quickly becoming one of my favorite games of 2018. I'm honestly completely fine with my Switch being my Nintendo/indie system, I've been playing it a lot more than my PC since I bought it last year.
I already pay for Spotify. I'm not going to fork over money for another music subscription, especially one that I can only use in a game. It's a shame, I probably would have bought this to play with my fiance if they had like 100 songs on cartridge instead of this subscription mess.
I'm digging Monster Hunter World on PC, though I would say that I still prefer Ultimate and the more traditional games. I can't believe they haven't fixed World's terrible co-op system.
Red Dead Redemption 2 looks great, I thought the original was the best game Rockstar ever put out. I'll patiently wait for this to come to PC though, I have plenty of other games to play right now.
None of those other multi platform games are for me, though. I've been tired of Assassin's Creed and Call of Duty for a few years.
I'd rather have the singleplayer Fallout games, but even then I'm not sure I'd play them. Every time I've tried on PC, I would always choose Elder Scrolls instead. I'm just not into Fallout's setting.
I actually loved the ending to Odyssey, the final sequence was fun and the music was fantastic, and the end where Mario and Bowser are fighting to propose to her was really funny. Especially when Peach was all "I don't need no man", and Mario is comforting Bowser. I really hope future games give us more of that humor, because I was genuinely laughing at loud. Especially when it went all slow-mo and Mario jumps on Bowser's head to get on the ship.
The only way I'll be even slightly interested in this is if it's at a mostly stable 30FPS. Tried playing this game on my fiance's PS4 and it ran terribly. It'll be pretty amusing if the Switch version runs better because of optimization.
It's going to sell more than Dark Souls or Diablo 3. I only argued your statement that it wouldn't, and you know that I'm right. I couldn't care less what your opinion is on the games themselves. Dark Souls is one of my favorite games of all time, but no way will the Switch version sell better than a Pokemon game. Your anger at Pokemon isn't going to change that.
I'd rather have ports of Oblivion/Morrowind. Don't get me wrong, an MMO on the Switch would be cool. I'd just prefer FF14. ESO isn't a bad game, but it didn't really feel enough like an Elder Scrolls game. Plus the game was really big when I played it on Steam, I can only imagine the file size nowadays.
Exactly, my biggest reason for not shopping there is just how bad I feel for every employee I interact with there. The fact that they have to meet pre-order quotas/etc. just turns me right off. That and I don't really believe in used game sales anyway, at least not at a store. I'd rather buy used games at a flea market/garage or yard sale, or directly from a regular person online, not a corporation.
Can't necessarily say I agree or disagree with you. To me as long as the framerate is a consistent 30/60, I'm satisfied but then again I'm pretty easy to please. I can understand wanting 60 FPS for a racer/shooter, but I'd still play 4 player split screen Mario Kart at 30 FPS over a mediocre-to-bad 60 FPS kart game.
"Pokemon LG can't hold a candle to even Dark Souls on the Switch... Even Diablo 3 on the Switch will fair better..."
You said this.
Also, I don't understand this idea you have that only kids are going to buy the new Pokemon game. The series has always appealed to a younger audience, your player character is a child themselves. That doesn't mean that adults like myself can't enjoy these games, that adolescent mindset you have actually surprises me because from what I've seen of you on these boards, you seem to be a pretty smart guy.
I've seen plenty of people who have fallen out with the series express interest in LG. I've been with Pokemon since Red and Blue, it and Zelda are my favorite franchises of all time. At first I was mad about LG's changes, but once I found out that this isn't going to be the norm for the franchise I was more open to them, especially since we're getting a more hardcore (if you can even call Pokemon that) entry next year.
The game is going to sell very well and be one of the biggest holiday hits. (Also, I never stated that Pokemon LG was better than anything. Better is a subjective term I'm not stupid enough to use in a debate.)
You're honestly kidding yourself if you don't believe that Pokemon LG is going to sell big time. It's simply going to eclipse Dark Souls and Diablo 3 sales-wise. Don't let your bias overtake common sense, man.
Yes I'm looking forward to 2019's Pokemon more than LG, but just because you don't like the changes doesn't mean it isn't going to succeed.
I absolutely adore my Switch, in my opinion it's the best console ever as far as its gimmick goes and will probably end up being my third favorite console under the SNES and GameCube by the end of its life cycle (the top two simply can't be topped for me due to nostalgia and the fact that as a grown, jaded adult, games just can't quite capture the magic that they held for me when I was younger).
It might have a good amount of shovelware, but so do the other two consoles this generation. It also has a ton of my favorite games in the past ten years, including Breath of the Wild, Mario Odyssey, Mario Kart 8, Bayonetta 2, Shovel Knight, Celeste, Hollow Knight, Stardew Valley, Dark Souls, Minecraft, and a ton of other great games.
The fact that I can play it like a handheld and then snap off the joy cons, hand one to my fiance and game together on the TV (Actually we use Pro controllers for that, but you get the idea) is such a neat experience that the Switch's competitors just can't replicate.
I second this, Sakura would be cool because she's basically Ryu and I'm all for female representation. I'd love Chun Li too of course, but she couldn't be an echo because she's too different.
I hope they're in, seeing representation from lesser known games like Rhythm Heaven and Mach Rider is great. The last thing we need is yet another humanoid with a sword.
So the microtransactions are characters, and you unlock them all with the extra $10? If the $10 gets you the complete package I guess that's better than some of these other monetization models.
That being said it still shouldn't be commended, only criticized.
Oh I like Sun and Moon's animation too, I just think it would be interesting if each season had its own style from here on out like most of the Zelda games. xD
Hey man, despite our disagreements I want to apologize to you if you weren't Horseface. Him going after my personal information kind of set me off and I'm sorry. I can't believe someone would make an account just to be that big of a tro'll.
Yeah, I mean ultimately we shouldn't blame any company for the way they have their buttons laid out. This button swap issue for this particular game is 100% on the developers of the port. If some people prefer B being confirm for this game, it should be an option, not the default when the default for the Switch itself and 99% of its games is A.
In my opinion this is a small issue that doesn't really affect the quality of the game, but it's absolutely not Nintendo's fault that the developers were too lazy to remap the buttons.
(Edit: also I didn't know that the Xbox controller took inspiration from the Dreamcast! That's pretty cool, I never owned a DC and only really remember that it had a screen on the controller. My brothers and I were Nintendo kids growing up, but I played a bit of Genesis at my friend's house and enjoyed it)
I think a lot of SNES games were weird in that a lot of games had 2-3 different buttons working as confirm in menus, but the SNES is my favorite console and I definitely remember A being confirm for most of them. A is confirm on their handhelds, too. Nintendo definitely isn't making A confirm to be different from the other guys, they've been doing this when the other guys were still in the womb.
Again, it isn't Nintendo's fault that the developers behind this port didn't take into account the system's controls whether you like it or not. I've only been gaming on Nintendo platforms and my PC for the past few years and I don't see why I should have had to get used to this in the first place. If you like B being confirm, they could have easily allowed you to remap the buttons the way you want. I'm sure you wouldn't have been happy if Dark Souls on the PS4 had Japanese controls and you had to press O to confirm, why should Nintendo players have to deal with this?
It has a more stable framerate (significantly so, check Blighttown on the 360 version and the same area on Switch), higher resolution docked, and DLC on the cartridge. It isn't a direct port. I wouldn't call it a remaster either, but seeing as the graphical "enhancements" on other systems actually make the game look worse, the only benefit of the Remastered version on other systems is the 60 FPS. Seeing as this game was originally developed with 30 FPS in mind, though,I wouldn't even say that it's important.
That isn't to say that Bamco did no wrong here, the audio at least needs a patch though I wouldn't call it game breaking.
