Re: Reminder: Free-To-Play Sci-Fi Shooter Warframe Is Now Available On The Switch eShop

Glad another f2p game came to the Switch, even if I'm not at all interested in it. It looks like it mostly does the monetization right, but for a loot-based action game, I definitely am not a fan of the real world hours and days you have to wait for something to finish crafting. I'll stick with Diablo, but I'm still very happy the Switch is getting more options like this!

Re: People Are Review-Bombing Pokémon: Let's Go Across Major Sites, Amazon Japan Blocks User Scores

@Evilworm the user scores are irrelevant, it has an 81 critic score which matters a lot more. It's a great game that is faithful to the originals. Is it my favorite Pokemon game? No, but it's definitely the best one since Black/White 2. Let's Go and Diablo Immortal are two different situations, people are mad about Immortal because we haven't heard anything about Diablo 4 yet whereas we're getting a new mainline Pokemon game next year. Even if you don't like Let's Go's beginner friendly direction, in no way is it a 0/10. The game is well made, very pretty and has a great soundtrack.

@Bolt_Strike eh, value is subjective. I've played plenty of games that are less than ten hours long that were far more enjoyable than games that lasted 60. You can't use words like objective and then follow it up with two subjective words (better and value). Also, the rhetoric is more than just a "tad" immature, any person who is so laughably insecure, small, and childish to write a review and score a game they've never played a 0/10 deserves to be put on blast and laughed at and shunned by society. I've been playing since R/B/Y and I can honestly say that Let's Go is taking the series in a better direction, the only things they need to work on is a difficulty slider, make the motion controls optional, and maybe have a little more post-game.

I believe that user reviews are extremely irrelevant and I never look to them to decide if I'm going to buy a game. People will childishly review bomb a game for something as simple as it not being on their console of choice. Also, most people are stupid and can't put together a well-written review anyway. These sites that allow user reviews need to find a way to confirm if you own the game or not.

On that note, Pokemon Let's Go is a solid 8 for me. I love everything about it except the mandatory motion controls. The catching mechanic is fun and I hope it stays in the series, but I do hope the next games are more difficult and trainers actually have full teams of Pokemon to battle instead of 2 or 3 against your six, and scale a little with your highest levelled Pokemon in your party. For instance maybe like at least within five levels or something. Aside from that, these are my favorite Pokemon games since Black/White.

Re: Guide: How To Battle Red In Pokémon: Let's Go On Nintendo Switch

Frenean

@GameOtaku

You know the games came before the anime and not the other way around, right? Ash was designed to resemble Red somewhat, but they aren't the same person. Red is the player character of first gen, a silent character with no personality.

I don't care which version you own dude, I'm not calling him Red out of biased preference for the Red version. I'm calling him Red because that's literally what Nintendo/Game Freak calls him. Next you're going to tell me you play as Zelda because the games are called The Legend of Zelda.

Re: Guide: How To Battle Red In Pokémon: Let's Go On Nintendo Switch

Frenean

@GameOtaku

But you don't PLAY as Ash in Pokemon Yellow, Ash isn't the main character. These are all nothing more than placeholder names. However, GameFreak confirmed that the canon name for the player character is Red in R/B/Y by calling the character Red and the rival character Blue from those games, play Gold/Silver/Crystal, Black/White, Sun/Moon or watch the Pokemon Origins anime if you don't believe me.

Also, did you even read the article that you linked in your comment? LMAO. It literally calls Red the first ever protagonist. This is a similar situation to the protagonist in Persona 5. In the game you choose his name, but it's been confirmed that his canon name is Akira Kurusu.

If you're denying cold hard facts because you believe Blue was a better version than Red (I had Blue first and prefer it over Red because Blastoise is my favorite third evolution of the first gen's starters, but Yellow is better than both of them) I don't know what to tell you other than to get over it. That's a really dumb reason to argue common knowledge in the Pokemon community.

Re: Guide: How To Battle Red In Pokémon: Let's Go On Nintendo Switch

Frenean

@GameOtaku

You played as Red in the original games, Red was the player character's placeholder name. Blue was your rival's placeholder name. You never played as Ash in any of the three original games. It's pretty amusing when people try to correct others when they don't know what they're talking about.

Re: Octopath Traveler Crowned Nintendo Game Of The Year At Golden Joystick Awards

Frenean

Octopath Traveler is a fantastic JRPG, but Fortnite getting GOTY ANYWHERE is why I don't pay attention to game awards or anyone else's opinion when it comes to gaming. It's cool to discuss them, but I personally believe Celeste, The Messenger, or God of War all deserve game of the year over Fortnite. Smash will undoubtedly be my favorite game this year when it releases, though.

Edit: Fortnite didn't even come out in 2018! I hate that "live service" games like Overwatch and Fortnite can win awards years after release. Sure they're fun games, but there's so much that comes out every year and games in 2018 deserve 2018 awards over ones that released last year.

Re: Switch Online Is Going To Be The Place To Play Classic Nintendo Content, According To Reggie

@WillQuan

The cheapest I've seen PlayStation Plus is $40 on sale, and that's still twice the cost of Nintendo Switch Online. No one is arguing that NSO is mediocre, but I only bought the service because I was forced to for online multiplayer, like the PlayStation and Xbox. The difference between the three is that the cost of online multiplayer is significantly cheaper on the Switch.

Re: Switch Online Is Going To Be The Place To Play Classic Nintendo Content, According To Reggie

Frenean

@WillQuan

It's hard to argue that you're getting ripped off when you just said that the cost is low in the same statement. This idea that some people have that they should be getting equal value to PS+/XBL with NSO at 1/3rd the price is crazy to me. I'm not saying that I don't want the service to improve, but if it improves too much and I'm forced to play $60 to play online I'll be pretty upset. I paid $7 for NSO by going in on a family plan with my fiance and two friends, I don't even think about the cost at a price like that. $60, the price of a full game, though? Yeah, I'd BETTER get more recent games for that price.

Re: Nintendo Embraces Opportunity To Share New Games At E3 2019 As Sony Opts Out

Frenean

Sony's E3 conference this year was honestly really bad. The games looked fine, but the way they went about it was whack and if this is how they're going to go about their conferences from now on then I don't really care if they attend E3. It sucks too, because if Sony had announced Bloodborne 2 that would have been all they needed to win E3 in my opinion. I honestly hope the PS5 will have something besides graphical fidelity this time around because that wasn't enough to get me to buy a PS4, I have a PC for that. Played the only two PS4 exclusives I cared about on my fiance's PlayStation.

Re: Dark Souls: Remastered Switch Update Fixes Crashes And Improves Animations

@VmprHntrD

You could have made an argument in defense of the problems without coming off as aggressive. I agree that the issues aren't enough to not play the Switch port, but that's just our opinions and others might find it more annoying. As far as value goes, it's objectively harder to argue that the inferior audio in comparison to the other versions doesn't work against the Switch version. I still think the Switch port is the best version of the remaster because it doesn't have the graphical/lighting changes that make the other versions look worse than the original, and being able to play it on the go is great. I do however agree that the audio should be patched and the button swapping should be an optional fix.

On your last note, bringing these issues to the developers is absolutely helpful in getting them to realize that fans aren't satisfied and hopefully fix said issues.
