I know Yooka-Laylee is going to be more Banjo-Kazooie than a new Banjo-Kazooie, but I still want to see Microsoft/Rare put their best effort in and make Threeie. Dream scenario is playtonic works with Rare and Microsoft Studios on a new Banjo game.
This doesn't feel like a game that is going to, or frankly NEEDS a sequel anytime soon. There is more than enough content for the average player to constantly make new levels and ideas. There is a nearly endless amount of levels. Just let people buy the Wii U version off the eShop on the NX. No need for a special version. The NX having exclusive items would be terrible. If they want to add new items, there is no reason to not put them on the Wii U version as well. It should be exactly the same game.
The Animal Crossing film was fantastic. As were the Pikmin shorts, KI shorts. and Star Fox promo. It's time for Nintendo to have films being released regularly. If they have the quality of what I mentioned above, whatever franchise they choose is going to be great.
I would love another 3rd person Mega Man game, but not Mega Man Legends. I found the lack of "robot masters" in MML to be disturbing, and I didn't really feel like I was playing a Mega Man game.
@Meowpheel The Wii U version can't even load all the enemies at the same time. I would love to see this game without the on-screen cap. Not sure if the invisible minion thing is common in most other Warrior games or not. The only other "Warriors" game I own is Mystic Heroes for the GCN.
@Nintendood So I can't state my opinion because someone already did? This isn't a forum, it's a comment section on an article, I'm leaving a comment on the article. I can, and will, comment about whatever I want.
The XYAB is cool. It's the most efficient way to label buttons.
Sony has it wrong. Triangle, Circle, Square? Look at what I had to type out just there. Also when you're talking out loud about that button to press you have to say "tri-ang-gul" or "cir-cul" when XYAB are all just one syllable. Then there is the whole Circle and X confirmation/cancel confusion between the US/Japan.
@pa261639 Me either. I played a few quests here and there, and still haven't completed the adventure map the game comes with.
I feel like you had to have played this game a lot to have gone through the original adventure mode and all the DLC. I was more of a 3-6 quests a week type of guy because while the game is fun, it gets too repetitive for prolonged sessions. No interest in Legends as the Wii U version looks way better.
Seeing new Pokemon is always exciting, but it takes awhile for me to fully capture the nature of a Pokemon. My perception and understanding of the Pokemon gets more defined even months after the release of the game. Seeing them in-game, in animation, hearing their sound/voice, and in the card game all give personality and depth to a Pokemon.
Let's be honest here. If there was ONE game that deserved to get an entire days worth of coverage, it would be a Legend of Zelda game.
To me, Zelda is a magical game franchise that is held above all else. Everything else Nintendo could show would just be bread sticks compared to this. I'm already all in for the NX. MP:FF, Pokemon S&M, and EarthBound 2* will be plenty of new from Nintendo to tide me over until the the launch of the NX.
*with so few projects coming from Nintendo, there is no way they don't localize Mother 3. My feelings on this have nothing to do with the rumors.
I'm all for instant play. PS4/XB1 you can't play the physical game you just bought right away. I never want to see Nintendo follow this format. I'm glad the Wii U allows for instant play as well.
Another benefit is noise. Playing off a disc is noisy, and taking the Wii U for example, just having a disc in the system creates extra noise. I always enjoyed how peaceful it was playing the digital games I have, as I don't sit across the room from the actual Wii U console.
Carts could also cut down on the heat being produced by the console. You can dry your socks over a PS4/X1!
Gen 6 didn't live up to the hype. The new graphics were nice but when they wore off the game felt shallow. I keep hoping they are going to deviate from the cookie cutter formula they got, even just a little, but nope.
I'm not talking about game-changing risky moves here dealing with the core mechanics of the game, I'm talking about mixing up traditional elements to make the game feel fresh instead of a new take on the same idea now 6 times over. The franchise is a monster battling RPG, they have spent years hammering and refining the mechanics, so why follow the same story pattern? Kid from a small town with professor, collect all the gym badges, use HMs to get to new areas, fight the evil villain, fight the elite 4. Let's see them come up with a new story templet.
What about a Pokemon game where there are 2 sides and each game the story follows that individual side, like FE:fates. What about a Pokemon game where you have a choice where you want the story to go. How about a Pokemon game where your character has more interesting motivations than becoming the Champion while defeating a villain. Maybe have enemies and boss battles against non-pokemon, while still following the same battle system. For example, a boss fight being against that giant Meowth Mech from the anime.
On a side note, based on the original main franchise games of a generation, Gen 6 has sold the worst.
He is apologizing to Nintendo as if he wronged them. There are many angles to interpret this, I hope the kid is just apologizing for making someone have to do work to repair it because he doesn't fully understand the concept of money and it being their job. He might be thinking someone had to stop what they are doing because he made a mistake.
Why would he even consider this unless the other characters are being voiced? He wouldn't. Link being the only character with a voice would be weird. He's talking about a fully voiced Zelda game here and debating if Link should be the only one that's silent.
The Wii has a TON of great games. It's a shame they are all 480p. At least it is starting to show it's own style now, something that takes a while to fully realize. That helps, but right now it's in that middle ground of not really being old and not really being new.
Can you join groups and play through the levels online like PSO? Can you meet up with random people online at all? Really cool looking game, but if I can't play online with people I have zero interest.
I've been patient and calm until now. A third delay is concerning, but I don't regret backing this game one bit, I'm a huge Mega Man fan and I enjoyed the experience of seeing the concept of this game come together. Without us backers there wouldn't be a delay(s) for people to complain about, because there wouldn't be a game.
I have no doubts that when this game finally gets released it's going to be great. Really hoping they give all backers some exclusive content for the excessive amount of delay. 1 or 2 is whatever, but a 3rd you need to give something cool to the people that funded the game.
I hope it is not a traditional turn-based RPG like 64/TTYD. Those have been done already, I can't see a new version being all that much different gameplay-wise from these 2, not to mention Paper Jam just came out.
@Jamotello I can only hope Nintendo provides us with their take on the objective based, minion MOBA games. The problem is Nintendo has never supported a game for an extended period of time. If they followed the trends of MOBA's they would need a team working and tweaking it for many years. Smash went a year and Sakurai moaned about it every chance he got.
Zack & Wiki is great, I got it really cheap used, but the save system is horrendous. It is so bad, and so punishing, that I couldn't play the game anymore. Replaying the same puzzle multiple times got old, and I dropped it, despite really enjoying it. Do Wii VC games have save states? That would fix this games biggest problem.
There is no way they would make this New3DS exclusive because the reason it's going handheld in the first place is to get double or triple the sales with minimal effort. Plenty of people will buy this for the old 3DS and be perfectly content with it, plenty.
A very consumer friendly move that works with this particular amiibo. Just don't expect this to become the norm.
This could hurt sales, although slightly, because some people would have bought 2, 1 for functionality and 1 to keep in the box. I'm sure some people will still buy 2 so they can have one both in and out of box, but for the people that were going to open it purely for functionality, this moves saves them a purchase.
For most people, VR is a curiosity. They just want the basic experience. Many phones being made now are able to be turned into VR devices, so all someone would need to do is buy the controller and a headset to put their phone in. Smartphones...aka personal hand computers, are the future of VR.
I kind of like that a Game of the Year can be a game released anytime, especially with DLC. Smash was one of the most talked about, buzzed, hyped game in all of 2015. Most of the amiibo are from the Smash series, Smash was what launched amiibo. A lot of the amiibo news is actually Smash news. Smash is most definitely the Franchise of the Year, and you can make a strong argument that also means it's the GAME of the Year.
I've grown bored of the Mario & Luigi games. Probably going to pass on this, but I might reconsider if Fawful/Paper Fawful is in the game and has a big role.
Edit: Doesn't look Paper Fawful is in the game. A shame, Fawful is the best original character in the series..
Splatoon and SMM are masterpiece games at the moment. We also got additional content for 2 other Wii U exclusive masterpieces that released last year. It's been a good year for Wii U.
A lot of people don't realize the New 3DS has a higher quality screen because they haven't seen one in person. Every game is getting a better experience, some even more so by taking advantage of the extra input. It may not be worth the upgrade for some (myself included) but it is the superior way to play DS/3DS games.
The vast, vast, vast majority of Smash players do not care about the competitive scene. Nintendo has no obligation to pay people that are good at their games. Why would a good Smash player have any precedent over a Mario Kart, Codename S.T.E.A.M, or Pikmin competitor? Because it's Smash?
A lot of gamers think open-world is the epitome of gaming. Any open-world game MUST rank higher than a lousy closed-world game! Xenoblade is great, but certainly not the unanimous winner of the Wii U. It's easier to compare Xenoblade with The Witcher 3 and Fallout 4 than it is to compare it with Splatoon and Super Mario Maker.
Splatoon/Super Mario Maker being GOTY (they are both my games of the year) does not make Xenoblade any less of a game. In terms of quality of games, Nintendo has had a fantastic year.

Wow, Project Dream was well on its way to becoming the best looking SNES game. Is what's left of Rare trying to recapture some of this essence with their new pirate game?

@mjharper The sales for SMG2 were lower than the original. When Wii VC titles were revealed they went with SMG2 because there are more fans who haven't played it. SMG2 was also a much better deal to kick off Wii VC. That's what I think at least.
