"Metroid Prime 4 will take between 8-12 hours to complete the main campaign and story mode and 10-18 hours to 100% the game, i.e., finding all items, scans, collectibles and content."
@Stormkyleis Exactly!!! I do enjoy the core gameplay, but this game really does feel like it's incomplete, especially compared to Nintendo's own typical standards... And I'm not saying that compared to Mario Kart 8 it's lacking content, I'm saying looking at the game on its own merit, it lacks content. Why do Pauline and DK only have two outfits? Why is there zero reward for collecting all 394 grueling p-switches? Where are the missing modes?
Black Ops 7 is performing so poorly this year, they're likely hoping they can tap into the Nintendo Switch audience who won't be as fatigued with how terrible CoD has been for the last decade. I doubt it'll work though.
@Ralek85 Totally get it and glad you enjoy it! I just found that in tracks like Mount Amberfalls, when you come flying off the waterfall - it looks so great - but you're not in control of your vehicle at that point - the camera spins around and you're just along for the ride. Then there's the rails and even the standard twists and turns just felt like it was all kind of automatic.
The difference is I love Mario Kart - all of them, including MKW. So maybe Air Riders will attract a different audience who haven't enjoyed those.
I truly hope those who buy this game absolutely love it and have a wonderful time playing it... However, I downloaded it, recorded a bunch of footage playing it, I won every race and won every City Trial event and it was so chaotic that I was just completely put off. Couple that with the fact that I felt like I wasn't in control for a third of every race with all the osbtacles and rails.
It really seems like a racing game for the TikTok generation - you don't have to do much, it sort of plays for you, and it just throws pretty visuals at your face. I cancelled my pre-order and sadly it's just really not for me. I like to know I'm in control when I race.
@WiltonRoots So just to recap: we’re both in complete agreement with what I initially said, but your objection is to the use of the word ‘we’. I've said it before and I'll say it again: the unnecessarily adversarial nature of internet comments sections is pretty wild. 🤣
@MamaSymphonia I'm getting likes because a few people obviously feel the same way I do. It's interesting that some people instantly jump to the defensive and start complaining about Sony and Microsoft - to be clear you're not the only one and you're completely right, but in this context who cares what Sony is doing? Sony are even more anti-consumer than Nintendo IMO but that doesn't mean we should all give Nintendo a completely free pass. For example: There was absolutely zero technological reason why they allowed us to use Switch 1 joycons and pro controllers with the Switch 2, but didn't allow us to use them to wake the Switch 2 from sleep. The sole reason they intentionally integrated that system was to make them less convenient for the consumer in order to encourage people to upgrade to the Switch 2 peripherals. So yes, wonderful that they allowed us to use Switch 1 peripherals with the Switch 2, but why not just go all the way and make them work properly rather than intentionally hamper the functionality in order to get loyal fans to spend more money? It's called business and I bought the Switch 2 Pro Controller at launch, but let's not pretend it's not still anti-consumer behaviour.
We can all celebrate when Nintendo does great things and we can also still be fans of their games and justifiably chastise Nintendo when they engage in anti-consumer behaviour.
@WiltonRoots Just to be clear, the two times I said 'We' were in these contexts: "We need generation-defining exclusive games." and "We know they're capable of making incredible games"... So... You don't want generation-defining games and you don't think Nintendo are capable of making incredible games?
@Varkster I'm genuinely glad you're enjoying your Switch 2 so much and that you have such confidence for the future. I wish I could share it, but even with the Switch 1, towards the end the only truly decent game we got was Tears of the Kingdom. And wow, what a game, for sure... But Nintendo has a very strange development cycle where one of their teams will be dedicated to multiple of their core franchises - such as Splatoon and Animal Crossing that are both developed by their EPD 5 team.
Like I said, we know Nintendo are capable of creating great games, but they're also very capable of arrogance and huge missteps, such as the WiiU. Whenever they make huge mistakes, they tend to come back stronger out of necessity, but when they're doing well, they tend to relax and the consumer gets less.
I hope I'm completely wrong, by the way, but the quality of titles such as the next Animal Crossing game will tell us everything about the state of Nintendo's development abilities. New Horizons may have sold a lot - in part due to the pandemic - but it was an unfinished tech demo at launch and we were strung along with very light updates over the next two years and the final product wasn't anywhere near as awesome as New Leaf.
I'm a huge Nintendo fan... but my Switch 2 hasn't been touched in 3 months. We need generation-defining exclusive games... I feel like there's an air of arrogance about Nintendo right now. They're coasting off the success of the Switch generation, which was defined by its launch with Breath of the Wild and Super Mario Odyssey. I personally love MKW and DKB, but they're not at that level and I'm not excited by anythng else that's coming out for the rest of the year. The Switch 2 could go either way at this point. We know they're capable of making incredible games, but they seem to be phoning it in while engaging in anti-consumer practices. I genuinely hope they turn it around.
This company First 4 Figures absolutely prints money. This is an (admittedly large) pastic figure that probably cost them a couple of bucks in materials, maybe a couple of more for the metal pins. The pricing is laughably outrageous. Anyone could 3D print their own for a fraction of the price. Cannot fathom spending money on this.
So, I have ADOORED Silksong for the last few weeks. I'm so happy Hades 2 comes out today. We really have been blessed with some awesome indie games this year. Loved the first Hades game and cannot wait to play Hades 2.
I have enormous respect for the brilliant developers behind Nintendo’s games - their creativity and craftsmanship are second to none. But time and again, the company’s executives make choices that feel openly hostile to their own fans. It’s hard to stand with them when their business practices so often undermine the very community that keeps Nintendo alive. Their executives are so anti-consumer that I don't have a problem with people buying the mig-switch to be able to easily store their own games.
Pricing is part of a game’s marketing strategy, and Team Cherry clearly knows what they’re doing. $20 for Silksong isn’t devaluing the work - it’s a deliberate choice that makes the game accessible to more players and massively widens its reach. For a sequel with this much hype, that kind of goodwill is priceless.
Other studios don’t need to copy this exact price point, but they can learn from the principle: sometimes a lower entry cost generates more sales, more players, and more long-term success. Silksong shouldn’t be criticised for being ‘too cheap’ -it’s a smart move, not a mistake.
No matter how bad the games get, Call of Duty and FIFA/FC will continue to sell. As conciencious gamers, we're not their intended market. For a huge section of the population, FC and CoD are the only games they buy every year. This isn't an insult towards them in any way, it's just facts. They don't read gaming websites, they don't play other games. They just buy FC and CoD every year and that's it. Regardless of reviews.
Honestly? No thanks. If they put more effort into the design, I'd gladly play... This game looks terrible and I feel like it's just exploiting people with disability for social points.
So.... Beatemups said the upcoming Direct would conclude with a 'One more thing' that would be the announcement of a new Animal Crossing coming to the Switch 2. I guess he was wrong.
ARMS sold 2.7 million copies. Drag X Drag, even tough it's selling at a fraction of the price of ARMS, won't break 1 million in sales. Why did they make it so drab and greyscale?! Add some Nintendo colours and style! Very sad.
I would have gladly paid for this game if they designed it with Nintendo colours and style. I'd be so insulted if I were in a wheelchair and this drab Drag X Drag nonsense was supposed to be representative of people like me. How hard is it to add colour to a game?! What is this greyscale nonsense?!
Mine have been amazing, both wifi and direct connection. I have been reading that people have been having issues with their Wifi connections dropping entirely, but I've not had that problem at all. Not sure why but so far the Switch 2's internet speed has been perfect for me.
Love her passion, but given the state of the studio, I think this is unrealistic. Don't get me wrong, I think if a company buys a game studio and then shuts it down, I think they should lose all rights to the games that studio made and they should be forced to make them open source and return them to the original creators.
At this point, it almost seems as though Microsoft are trying to single-handedly sabotage the games industry themselves. They've bought so much talent and cannot seem to facilitate them producing their best work.
I hope those people manage to get new work and I also hope Microsoft manage to turn all of this around, but it's definitely looking a little bleak.
Nintendo understands that all they need to do is continue creating great games. By contrast, Microsoft seem to have completely abandoned games and are focussing on shareholders above all else. It's absolutely wild that they cannot produce a single generation-defining game from all of the incredible studios they spent billions on.
@GoldenSunRM Do you realise that you've literally just made the exact same point I've been making?
"The best part to me was exactly that it wasn't just the same AC for GameCube but with even more stuff in it, like every single AC has been." That's exactly the point - every AC game DID add more content up until New Horizons which missed a ton of it.
Where are the twenty missing furniture sets? Why did it only have a single upgrade for Nook's Cranny instead of the five upgrades we got in New Leaf? Why is Kicks relegated to a rug on the plaza in front of the town hall instead of with his own shop? Where’s ClubLOL? Where's Gracie's Clothes? Why didn't it have Brewster's Cafe as its own stand-alone building with the job minigame that had us making coffee for villagers? Where were the Tortimer's Island multiplayer minigames to play with friends?
So many NPCs didn't feature in the game except with a tiny nod to them in the eventual DLC.
@MegaVel91 You're right! It's not out, but from what we've seen, it very obviously is a run-of-the-mill game. Have you seen anything that looks like the quality of New Donk City, the Moon Kingdom, the Wood Kingdom, The Cloud kingdom? No, you haven't because it all looks pretty samey in DK Bananza.
Look, I'm sure it'll be "great"! It might even feature in the 'Game of the Year' category at the Game Awards, but we all know something like Expedition 33 is going to win vs a relatively pedestrian DK game that isn't really bringing anything new to the table. I guarantee no one is going to be calling DK Banaza a generational release unless there's something I've seriously missed or they've hidden some awesome content somewhere.
@GoldenSunRM You're welcome to your opinion! But it doesn't reflect the majority of the communtiy who feel the same way I do and it's based on facts, not opinion - there's tons of content that was in New Leaf that was missing from New Horizons. I can list it all here if you like? There are countless YouTube videos on this explaining in great detail why New Horizons was such a disappointment compared to New Leaf. I'm glad you enjoyed it! But the majority of New Leaf players didn't.
@MegaVel91 Well, we're very early in this generation, but I don't see anything like the quality of Breath of the Wild, Odyssey or Tears of the Kingdom in sight!
DK Bananza looks like it'll be a great distraction, but certainly not the same quality. We know what Nintendo are capable of, so when they don't deliver their best, it's really obvious (like New Horizons).
It just feels like Nintendo are more keen on their shareholders than their fans. I hope I'm wrong! I'm looking forward to this generation, I really am. But enjoying Nintendo games is at best a 70/30 split of weaponised nostalgia and lazy cash grabs as it is truly generation-defining games.
Those few generation-defining games DO generally make up for the rest of it, but we need to see them on this new system. I don't think we're going to see anything like that from the upcoming Donkey Kong, Metroid, Kirby or Splatoon games, so we've not really got anything like that to look forward to just yet.
I just want to offer an alternative to everyone complaining about the intermission tracks. I LOVE THEM!
I've been playing since launch and I'm still encountering intermission tracks I've not raced on before. There are 202 of them!
There seem to be an awful lot of non-Switch 2 owners dogpiling on complaining about this despite never having played the game themselves... Just seems like a way for a lot of people to justify to themselves not yet investing in a Switch 2 (or more unfortunately, not being able to afford one?)
@boxyguy As a genuine fan, I can honestly say that none of my friends agree with the criticism this game is getting. Even before launch, I noticed the wave of negativity, especially around the intermission tracks - people were already calling them boring. But I love them! I’ve been playing since day one, and even now, when I jump into Grand Prix online, I’m still discovering new intermission tracks I haven’t raced before. There are 202 of them!
Don’t buy into the hate - it mostly comes from a very vocal minority of competitive players who only want to race traditional 3-lap tracks. Why? Because they’ve memorized every racing line, jump, and shortcut to gain an edge over casual players. It’s like watching pro NBA athletes show up to a casual pickup game - congrats on wasting your time learning every track just to beat casual gamers.
Beyond that, a lot of the negativity seems to come from people who don't even own a Switch 2 but are just dogpiling on.
I love Nintendo, I do, but I do also think they've got something to prove this generation and therefore referring to them as celestial beings is a bit much. I really hope they don't phone it in with the next Animal Crossing game like they did with New Horizons. At launch, that game was little more than a glorified terraforming tech demo that lacked a huge chunk of content which was drip fed to us over the next two years. I know it brought in 4 times as many sales as New Leaf, therefore there are a lot of new fans who love it and don't even realise what they were missing... But I'm just hoping Nintendo does a better job with the Switch 2 version.
So my Switch 2 Game of the Year is Mario Kart World. I actually love everything about it, especially the intermission tracks. I’ve been playing since launch and I’m STILL encountering intermission tracks I’ve not yet raced on (there’s 202!). I love the fact that the lobby is now just the open world. I love the day/night and weather cycles. I love the wall riding, rail grinding and charge jumping.
After that it’s Animal Crossing New Horizons because it finally loads faster with the Switch 2.
@Reztobi That's impossible with all the drones playing FIFA/FC ever year despite the fact that the game hasn't changed for the last decade. They literally make billions from those gamers feeding them their money for loot box card packs. The whole practice is gross but as long as drones keep buying it, they'll keep EA afloat.
This is insane! I have one question: HOW? Did they have their own truck?? How long was the driver away from his truck that allowed them to take so many? This is too weird... inside job maybe?
I am actually interested in some of these but I'm frustrated that we don't have any dates. Because when we don't have dates, Nintendo have repeatedly shown that they're happy to delay things. I'm also shocked that the Switch 2 is launching with a single Nintendo exclusive when last year they specifically said they were delaying the Switch 2 launch so they could have a better launch lineup. I just kinda feel like Nintendo haven't got their own house in order and yet, I appreciate that they only release games when they're as perfect as possible. The biggest mistake they could make so early in this generation is to release games that aren't perfect.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (13th December)
Animal Crossing New Horizons and Mario Kart World. Animal Crossing is basically the only game keeping me a Nintendo fan at the moment. Seriously disappointed with the games this year. Except DKB - that was bomb. But Pokemon, Kirby and Metroid were all meh.
Re: Talking Point: Six Months Since Launch, How Would You Rate Switch 2?
Switch 2 Console: 8/10
Switch 2 Games: 4/10
DKB and MKW were great, I genuinely seriously enjoy both of them, but two above average titles cannot carry a console for long. We need generation-defining experiences like 3D Mario, Zelda, and a proper mainline Animal Crossing.
Re: Metroid Prime 4: Beyond: How Long Does It Take To Beat?
From what I've seen, people have been having fun with this game and that's the most important part! But speaking purely personally, $60 for such a short experience? Sorry, no.

Glad there's so much enthusiasm for it here! But it's not for me. Too chaotic to be fun. 7/10

Wait, hold up... The Pop-Up London Pokémon Center had an exclusive British Pikachu plush in a suit and bowler hat available only at that store - it was adorable!!! The Pop-Up London Nintendo Store just has Japanese items and the ONLY exclusive item with 'London' on it is the carry bag and they're charging £10 for it?! 🤣 🤣 🤣 I seriously hope this isn't the case. So yeah, New Horizons missed a ton of content.
Re: Star Fox Designer Was Relieved To Leave The "Amazing People" At Nintendo
Re: Star Fox Designer Was Relieved To Leave The "Amazing People" At Nintendo
@GoldenSunRM You're welcome to your opinion! But it doesn't reflect the majority of the communtiy who feel the same way I do and it's based on facts, not opinion - there's tons of content that was in New Leaf that was missing from New Horizons. I can list it all here if you like? There are countless YouTube videos on this explaining in great detail why New Horizons was such a disappointment compared to New Leaf. I'm glad you enjoyed it! But the majority of New Leaf players didn't.
Re: Star Fox Designer Was Relieved To Leave The "Amazing People" At Nintendo
As I said, I could be wrong and I hope I am!
Re: Of Course Mario Kart World Is Being Review Bombed
@Bonapetit_nintendo Hahaha! 😂 All of your posts are troll posts. You even call to boycott DK Bananza! 🤣 Opinion ignored.
Re: Fans Reckon Nintendo Has "Killed" Mario Kart World With Its Latest Update
I just want to offer an alternative to everyone complaining about the intermission tracks. I LOVE THEM!
I've been playing since launch and I'm still encountering intermission tracks I've not raced on before. There are 202 of them!
There seem to be an awful lot of non-Switch 2 owners dogpiling on complaining about this despite never having played the game themselves... Just seems like a way for a lot of people to justify to themselves not yet investing in a Switch 2 (or more unfortunately, not being able to afford one?)
Re: Of Course Mario Kart World Is Being Review Bombed
Re: Star Fox Designer Was Relieved To Leave The "Amazing People" At Nintendo
Re: Poll: What's Your Switch (2) Game Of The Year So Far?
So my Switch 2 Game of the Year is Mario Kart World. I actually love everything about it, especially the intermission tracks. I’ve been playing since launch and I’m STILL encountering intermission tracks I’ve not yet raced on (there’s 202!). I love the fact that the lobby is now just the open world. I love the day/night and weather cycles. I love the wall riding, rail grinding and charge jumping.
After that it’s Animal Crossing New Horizons because it finally loads faster with the Switch 2.
Re: EA Worker Pay Continues To Dwindle As CEO Picks Up $5 Million Bonus, Thus Creating Amusingly Tall Financial Graph
Re: More Than 2,800 Switch 2 Consoles Have Been Stolen From A Semi-Truck
This is insane! I have one question: HOW? Did they have their own truck?? How long was the driver away from his truck that allowed them to take so many? This is too weird... inside job maybe?
Re: Animal Crossing: New Horizons Update 2.0.7 Patch Notes - Switch & Switch 2 Multiplayer Compatibility "Improved"
It's WILD that New Horizons sold 58 million copies, making it the second best selling game on the Switch, and it hasn't got an update for Switch 2.
Re: Street Fighter 6 Releasing Final 'Year 2' Fighter Alongside Switch 2 Game Launch
I know nothing about SF6. So will all characters be included or are they separate paid for DLC? If it's separate, I have zero interest.
Re: 27 Upcoming Nintendo Switch 2 Games We're Excited For In 2025
I am actually interested in some of these but I'm frustrated that we don't have any dates.
Re: Don't Worry, 'Ori And The Blind Forest' Dev Probably Isn't Shutting Down
This studio is incredibly talented and this game looks stunning. More than happy to support them.
