Only two days remain until WarioWare: Get It Together! launches on Switch, giving us our latest crazy taste of the series' microgame madness, but is it worth your valuable time and money?
Reviews have started flooding in today – including our own, of course – so we've gone ahead and rounded up a selection of quotes and review scores from a number of different outlets. Below, you'll get to see just how well the title's gone down with the media ahead of its launch, and hopefully get a clearer idea on whether or not it might be for you.
Before we dive in, we'd naturally like to encourage you to check out our very own review:
Right, now you've read through our final verdict, let's see what other critics had to say.
We'll kick things off with VG247, who awarded the game four out of five stars:
"WarioWare: Get It Together is unabashedly Nintendo, fulfilling its mission statement to the letter with alarming precision, but also not rocking the boat very much at all. The game’s one big change - controlling a cast of characters - didn’t turn out to be that big of a deal after all. The result is a wonderfully infectious game to play alone - while it lasts - but the true value of the package will be in playing it with others."
IGN called it "an absurd delight", but weren't fully impressed with the multiplayer options on offer:
"WarioWare: Get It Together! is an absurd delight, testing your ability to think quickly and adapt on the fly in a series of ever-escalating microgames... It’s a shame that Get It Together!’s multiplayer options somewhat drop the ball though, enough for an evening or two of laugh-out-loud fun with friends but lacking the staying power for many more beyond that."
The folks at Game Informer went for a score of 7.75/10:
"WarioWare: Get It Together's lively visuals are temporarily engaging, but this candy shell has a hollow center; like any sugary snack, the experience doesn't stick with you. As soon as I'd wrapped Get It Together's brief single-player campaign, I was content to move onto something else. These microgames are a nice treat if you're in an eccentric mood, but these miniature experiences only offer short-lived joy."
Destructoid opted for a score of 7.5/10, also questioning the game's longevity:
"I’m grateful that another Wario game even exists, and WarioWare: Get It Together! is going to be a hit for a lot of people who are already dedicated to this special brand of weird. But for some, the homogenization of a few aspects might not last them more than a week, so make sure you bring people into the fold if you want to jump in at full asking price."
GamesRadar was a little less impressed, noting that the game "overcomplicated the formula":
"It's such a shame because after the 18 months we've all had, I was overjoyed at the idea of having something new and frivolous to play with friends over a few beers. But, WarioWare: Get It Together has lost sight of what made it brilliant, and instead overcomplicates the formula to its detriment."
And finally, GameSpot offered up an 8/10, calling it a "welcome addition" to the Wario series:
"For the most part, the new character-based approach is a welcome addition to the WarioWare blueprint. The characters themselves are differentiated and expressive, and mechanically they make the traditional microgame challenges that much more engaging. The WarioWare series has been fertile ground for Nintendo to experiment with concepts like touchscreen capabilities in Touched or accelerometer-based motion in Twisted, which makes Get It Together's platforming riffs a little more traditional than usual. But that also makes it less reliant on a gimmick, and that's a change for the better."
WarioWare: Get It Together launches on 10th September and is available to buy either digitally from the Switch eShop, or physically at retail. Are you looking forward to playing the game this Friday? Let us know in the comments.

It’s not for everyone but If you have a bunch of friends or a bunch of gaming children it’s day 1. Really enjoyed the demo with the kids.
@1UP_MARIO Same spent the first weekend the demo was out playing it with my wife and kids. We had a blast.
I expected better reviews, metacritic score is only 76. But the demo is a lot of fun.
I want it so bad cause my whole family had been playing them since we put the GameCube one on an emulator and we’ve played every single one from then on!
@chipia 76 is good though. That's on the high end positive scores.
I like getting Game Informer, and appreciate it, but I hardly ever like their reviews.
My wife and I are so excited. My son is going to his aunt’s for the weekend before his birthday, and we are going to blast through this and Life is Strange: True Colors. We couldn’t ask for a better gaming line-up for our personal tastes this weekend.
And then when my son gets back, we’ll have likely unlocked everything and the mayhem will continue with our guidance (he’s 4 on Tuesday, so hopefully it’s as fun as playing Mario Kart with him and not like watching him play Mario Odyssey).
I’m not shocked about the Metacritic score, by the way. Warioware has always been misunderstood by the reviewing public at large. It’s a niche game for people with a goofy sense of humor. It’s intentionally obnoxious. Last of Us or even Super Mario, it is not… but thank god for that!
I’m gonna be honest Mario party superstars looks way better than this
WarioWare has always been a cult game, and this version still is. If you like the genre it's a must buy, if you don't then just buy Mario Party.
I already pre-ordered it. I've been loving WarioWare since the first GBA game
It's sort of expected a game like this will have mixed reviews, it's really not for everyone. I've spent 2 hours playing the demo games so I'm pretty hyped for the full thing.
@Hobbesyall Mario Party should be good. After all, Mario Party Switch was their biggest hit since Mario party 2. Only thing they can do from here on out is learn what made the switch game so much fun and improve upon it, or reverse course and go downhill.
Not really sure how it “overcomplicated the formula” but the all the characters are easy to control and the mini games (at least in the demo) tailor to each character type.
Ah well I’m just waiting on Black Friday anyway. I stop buying new games in August unless it’s a Zelda game.
I love warioware. Me and my wife even still play the sub par Wii U offering as it's still great fun with a couple of beers in you.
How long will will the game last? Is this something that can be conquered (campaign) in a weekend? Or is it something that can take longer? The levels in the demo flew by.
Jeez, these review should be better
I LOVE LOVE LOVE Warioware. It's an eccentric, niche game, though (and I'm honest about that). It's the game you go to for a laugh with friends. It's the game you play for 10 minutes after marathoning a long RPG. It's a game you revisit to score chase just because you like it.
Reviewers judging this on the same scale as a Mario or Zelda title are missing the point. Warioware is a gaming fidget toy with some funny bits. If someone understands and appreciates that, they'll love it. That won't be the case for all reviewers obviously.
@Pirate1 How long will will the game last?
Having played the heck out of every Warioware game, you will likely "finish it" in a matter of hours. The value will come from missions, challenges, score chasing, collectibles, as a party game, etc. If the latter is not appealing, it's probably just a fun rental or quick buy/trade. But for enthusiasts, I'm anticipating this one will give you fair mileage.
Some of these reviews really don't get how WarioWare games are meant to be played, and some really seem like the people don't enjoy the micro-games at all.. which is the main selling point of the series.
You're not just supposed to play a WarioWare game until the main story's over, given that there's much more content past that. The main game is after you beat the story and unlock all of the side modes, trying to get the highest score you possibly can on all of the games, and trying to get all the collectables. Other games like Gold offer tasks to complete as well, so there's always something to do.
However, most reviewers usually have the mindset of "If I finish the story, then the game's over", when some games aren't like that at all.
7.5 is a pretty fair score for any warioware title. NL were just too generous with 9/10.
@anynamereally Or, it could be the reviewer who was assigned to review WarioWare, actually enjoyed it and gave it 9. Many other outlets gave the game 9's and 8's. Guess they're all being too generous.
As a single player, I have always enjoyed the Warioware games but never got more that 5 to 10 hours out of them.
Will probably wait a year until Nintendo do a 30 percent off sale.
The lowest scores are still decent and most of the reviews seem to be 7.5-9 range. From the demo and everything I’ve been seeing it looks like a definite pickup as a fan of the series. Excited for this one!
I hate how some publications only give 9s and 10s to AAA, big budget, realistic graphic, open world games
@chipia don’t rely on meta critic, they are a paid review site just like ign and the rest of them. Go off user scores.
@Dirty0814 don’t rely on user scores, they are paid reviews just like ign and the rest of them. Go off your own judgement
@beazlen1 don't rely on reality, it's a paid review just like ign and the rest of them. Go off your own metaphysical consciousness.
@beazlen1 Don't rely on your judgement you have been brainwashed by the governement and google, apple ,amazon, youtube, facebook, to make you think you liked the game !
A ‘9’ does seem a bit high compared to review averages. But then again, PJ O’Reilly reviewed this for NintendoLife. I’ve found that he and I have the same tastes in gaming, based on his previous reviews.
So if PJ loved it, then so will I!
@iambobthebush don't rely on metaphysical consciousness, it's a paid review just like ign and the rest of them. Go off NintendoLife reviews!
@mereel That's because most mainstream gaming only like realistic AAA games with flashy graphics for the most part. I trust smaller sites more because they tend to have more dedicated gamers on their staff and are less focused on trends and what's cool or not.
Wario Ware is too weird of a game for a lot of those sites to fully get. I find most gaming sites rather closed minded (especially American ones, sorry) and they always look down upon Nintendo a little.
Not every game is a 10/10 classic at the level of Mario Odyssey, MK8D or Breath of the Wild. 7/10 or 8/10 doesn't mean it's bad or even average, the critics are actually saying it's a good game. Just that it's not an all-time classic. I wouldn't know either way from first-hand experience having not played it.
I am interested, but I think I'll ultimately pass. Score attack games don't hold my attention like they used to and I don't do multiplayer. If it ever goes on sale, who knows, maybe I'll grab it on a whim!
A lot of the reviewers seem to dislike that it doesn't have the exact same formula as previous wario games. As someone who hadn't played previous titles, I thought the demo was chaotic fun as is and I liked the different characters. I would probably give it 8/10, but my standards for 9 or 10 are very high.
I am buying this for two reasons….1. I like Wario as a character. 2. I also like mini games and Nintendo’s willingness to experiment with something different.
i dont think ill get much use from its multiplayer. but with 200 microgames and nearly a dozen characters to play them in, i dont doubt the longevity ill get out of this game. cant wait to play it!
Game and Wario is always a winner when friends gather around the TV, so I don't see it will be any different with this new entry in the franchise. It is a buy for me
the demo was a blast. Gonna pick it up after work today.
