Re: Nintendo's Ready For Acquisitions, When The Time Is Right

Christofu

I hope Nintendo acquires more IP, but slowly and considerately. Nintendo is, at heart, a very capitalist, money hungry company, but their games show more polish, quality, personality, and charm than a lot of the rest of the industry. Acquiring companies is certainly good for them and the companies they acquire with Retro being able to make the prime series in a way that normal Nintendo probably would have never done, but still showing the same level of quality and polish, and Next Level having amazing animation to bring to the table for existing and new IP. This all is great, and I hope Nintendo can grab some companies (especially passionate indie devs like Team Cherry, Yacht club, etc), however I worry that if they start buying companies often, things will end up like Microsoft. Microsoft infamously buys a bunch of companies, then they lose their charm, lose their creativity, slow down their production, fall to the wayside, and other such things. I mean, lets be honest, Retro hasn't made a new game in YEARS (yes, I know MP4 is coming) and although I think Nintendo has handled that company better than some of Microsofts, it's definitely a risk to buy other companies

Re: Aztech Forgotten Gods Blends Mexican Storytelling With Anime-Inspired Action-Adventure

Christofu

Looks very cool! Aztec and Mesoamerican mythology in general doesn't get enough attention. I will say though, dealing with certain themes must be really difficult just like with any other mythology. For example, Zeus is a total creep in actual mythology, yet he's always just some big goofy powerful guy in media. In this case, huitzilopochtli is a particularly difficult god to deal with, because he was the patron god of Tenochtitlan. On one hand, not mentioning him would feel wrong for a game that draws from Aztec Mythology, but on the other, you can't really ignore the millions of people that met bloody, disgusting, torturous deaths in sacrifices to him. I suppose the best way to feature him would be as some sort of villain, possibly portrayed as oppressive.

Re: Nintendo Unveils A New Blue Switch Lite Console

Christofu

@VoidofLight good point although they had the same issue when the first switch released, and they had it before the lite was announced too. In general, parts have been sparse for Nintendo these days. I could be wrong but I've heard that apple in particular tends to have a strong foot in the parts industry in terms of contacts and suppliers prioritizing them, so companies like Nintendo struggle to get parts when apple buys them first

Re: Nintendo Unveils A New Blue Switch Lite Console

@Bomberman64 it is infuriating knowing how many games NSO could feature but doesn't. gb, gbc, gba, n64, and gc all should have switch online support by now, or at least the handhelds.

Off topic but for Pokemon's anniversary, now would be a great time to release gameboy and gameboy color games

Re: Nintendo Unveils A New Blue Switch Lite Console

Dang I've wanted to get a switch mini to replace my 2017 model switch for a while now as it has been overheating and acting clunky, and I just got a job so I was planning on getting a coral pink switch lite when I get my next paycheck, but now I don't know if I'd rather have this or the pink. In addition, the switch pro feels near so if I get a lite I'll probably end up buying a pro too

Re: Introducing Pokémon Legends: Arceus, An Open-World Prequel To Diamond And Pearl

Christofu

@NintendoCopium yeah that's fair. Believe me, I think some people can be overly negative about the games, but people also shouldn't be so crazy about defending something that isn't even great. It shouldn't be the fan's fault for a game developer being lazy and publishing a bad game, so criticism is valid. Personally I fall more to the critical side, although I'll still acknowledge the good in something, like sword and shield were awful but I think the stadiums were an interesting approach to a worn out concept

@Slinkoy1 Yeah, I get the skepticism and concern with everything like the frame rates and pokemon behavior, but come on. Gamefreak finally outsourced for a game, and the new game is a huge step forward. It looks a bit rough but I'm still fascinated by it. Looks like the first time since X and Y that a game looks like a jump forward. Could be rough but I'm happy to see change

Re: 'Pokémon Presents' Live Presentation Announced For Tomorrow, 26th February

@GrandScribe Ngl with HMs gone I do miss them for their exploration and puzzle purposes. They could totally have brought them back in swsh and had them work. You could have them unlearnable. People would say "well then you could get stuck," but with the flying taxi and portable PC, you could easily leave situations where past games would leave you stuck without HMs

Predictions:
*pokemon unite international beta/release info
*some new mobile app that will be mildly fun but also unnecessary and a cash grab
*gen 4 remakes with some kind of catch. will look good but fans will be skeptical or disappointed
*No Pokemon sleep, but some new lifestyle app will be shown
*some sort of slideshow or montage along with merchandise that everyone will enjoy. as always everyone will be so smothered in nostalgia by the slideshow/montage that anything shown will be better due to nostalgia
*something new snap related
