Last week, the Pokémon series turned 25 years old. To celebrate this, Nintendo's all-star fighting game Super Smash Bros. Ultimate is hosting a special Pokémon Brawl tournament.
It starts later this week on 5th March and will run for a total of three days. As you might have already worked out, it's themed around Pokémon - this includes fighters, stages and items. The more you win, the more spirits you'll earn.
Nintendo has also just revealed that Version 11.0.0 of Smash Bros. Ultimate will be arriving soon. It'll likely line up with the release of Pyra and Mythra - the new DLC fighters which will be showcased tomorrow.

At least pokemon is doing somthing with there anniversary why did link have to get the shaft.
@Snatcher - Probably hold off on that. Mario is wrapping up by the end of March. They don't just make a logo for nothing.
Meanwhile every one forgot that Metroid will also have a 35th anniversary this year or that Donkey Kong is hitting its 40th anniversary or that Golden Sun is getting on its 20th anniversary. All anniversaries that will likely be ignored.
So I guess I should celebrate by playing Pokemon Y and Moon then and play as the pokemon fighters in smash.
Nice, Pokemon trainer is my main
@Ghost_of_Hasashi I truly believe Nintendo will celebrate both Metroid AND Zelda this year but with a stronger emphasis on Zelda
@Snatcher Lol Link may not be as well treated in the moment but at least he's getting something. RIP DK and Samus
@Christofu true.
I wonder if, by the time all the DLC is released, they'll do an all DLC tournament. Would be a good way to sell it, as they could temporarily give the DLC to everyone for that tournament, similar to how Octolings were available for everyone during the squid vs octopus Splatfest.
