Announced somewhat quietly in the Summer before featuring in a recent Nindie sizzle reel, Aces of the Luftwaffe - Squadron is now just a few days away from release on the Nintendo Switch. Somewhat different from the non 'Squadron' release previously seen on smart devices, this is a vertically scrolling shooter with an emphasis on local co-op play (though you can tackle it solo).
The eShop page popped up over the weekend and now its trailer has been uploaded to YouTube.
The official description promises a 'captivating storyline' and 'spectacular bosses and dogfights', so fingers crossed that it delivers. In the UK it'll cost £13.49, which will likely convert to $14.99USD / €14.99; it's due for release on 17th November.
Do you like the look of this one?

Hmm, love me some shm'ups but not too keen on the "mobile look" art style and at £13.49 a tad pricey.
Most likely with stick with Strikers 1945 and Blazing Star until a sale comes round.
It's a shmup so count me in!
As a German, I am always confused when "Luftwaffe" is chosen as a fixed historical name... You should know that it just means "Air Force", and the German air army still wears this name today.
Yeah I"ll get it for sure, I love shmups.
@Chandlero and why should we know that or care?
Wasn't this a mobile game originally? I remember playing a version of this on my phone.
Meh... I love me some bullet-hell shoot em ups, and 4 player co-op could be hilarious, but I really don't like the cheap Adobe Flash look, so it's a pass for me.
EDIT:
One of my own personal favorites, to this day, is Banshee. It was an Amiga A1200/CD32 exclusive, inspired by the arcade game 1943:
@Chandlero because it sounds foreign. Die Luftwaffe, The Luftwaffe. Doesn't even need an introduction, it is iconic like a T-Rex is for dinosaurs.
Love shoot-em-ups but the Switch is already blessed with some absolute classics with lots more on the way. This one just doesn't cut it, the art style is horrible too. I'll just wait impatiently for Zero Gunner 2 instead.
Well I guess I'm too old and slow for such games...
ITS Great to see these classic style games making a comeback. Brings it all back to a much simpler time. N Switch is truly worth the investment. Bringing triple a games as long as being an indie super machine. Great time to be a gamer.

@dumedum This is the problem with most of the West today. Nobody cares about history. They just make it up however they want and in the long run it will be a huge detriment to society as a whole.
Looks medioce at best.
Once again i can only recommend to keep playing Strikers 1945/Aero Fighters 2/Blazing Star and wait for Zero Gunner 2/Gunbird/Sengoku Ace.
yeah, even if it is a high effort game, it has that low end shovelware 2d art style.
I just want the Raiden games on here...something about the visuals on these other games just...I don't like...
Another shoot-em-up has joined the long list of releases coming this week. Xenoraid is its name and it looks a little better than this.

@OorWullie It does look a little better, but that too still looks like a shooter made with Adobe Flash.
@Chandlero Please ignore that other person who commented. I thought it was interesting. Thanks for sharing.
I'm interested. I like the genre and I really like the fact that it's 4 players.
@FX102A I have this same feeling, the chunky cartoon look and animation style always rubs me wrong. But shmup!
All games similar to this one add variety to people who want to play old style games and not the same fps non sense that only the new age want. I️ guess all you want is more loot boxes and some pack bs, to me that’s been the problem with gaming today.
@FX102A really? Aside from some power up icons, it looks like early SNES sprite work to me.
Color me intrigued. Another wide-screen vertical shmup (Sky Force)? I'm in.
@faint personally I just don't care to get the Nazi term right .
@dumedum
Why should we care about what you care? Seriously why are you here? If you feel bored or grunpy go take a happy pill.
@arpaktiko wow, triggered much.
Tempting. But as someone who isn't good at games to start with, and who places shmups as among the kind I am least skilled but still enjoy, I'll probably hold off for a sale.
@ThanosReXXX Yep, not a fan of that look at all. It got OK reviews on Steam and PS4 but even if it had great reviews, I couldn't look past that cheap look it has.
