I don't think importing will save you much money. The UK price isn't too far off the US price, taking exchange rate and tax into account. The problem is that the exchange rate is poor because of the weak pound.
@jswhitfield8 Really? I thought it was well balanced with each gen getting about the same amount of time. The only exception was the extra X&Y bit in the encore, but that's excusable for being the encore and for them being the most recent games at the time.
Although, I would argue that the song choice for some games was weaker than others. I feel gens 1, 4, 5 and 6 had excellent pieces whereas gens 3 and (most surprisingly) 2 weren't represented well with their choice of songs.
I've seen both in London - Pokemon around Christmas 2015, and Zelda in Spring 2016. While I'd say both are excellent, I'm gonna have to disagree with this article and say I preferred Pokemon (probably because of some intrinsic bias! I am 'Buizel', after all).
I used 3D at (pretty much) all times from the beginning to the end - I absolutely loved it. 3DS games really looked strange to me without it - then again, the relatively low resolution compared to the Wii U and Vita probably didn't help. It added so much depth to the games and I'm really going to miss it on the Switch.
Having said that, I've been diagnosed with astigmatism (after previously having 20:20 vision) since getting my 3DS so maybe not all good!
I'm confident that this year will be great for Nintendo, probably the best that they've had since the Wii. I think they'd really have to mess up with something in particular (price, battery) for the Switch to flat out fail. Zelda and Mario are already pinned for 2017 and that's excellent - and who knows what else we'll have in the Switch's first year, considering the complete shift in resources we've seen the past year or two.
From what I understand (I don't have an iPhone so haven't had the opportunity to play!), there's some free content but a purchase is required to buy the full game.
Surely they can't expect everyone to make the full purchase on day one when there's some free content there? Give it time.
@abbyhitter I'd agree in that case. The issue with the Wii is that it was outputting a max of 480p when HD (720p and up) was becoming standard. However, we're never going to see such a large jump in resolution again. On the other hand, many console games of this generation are having frame rate issues.
Got a strange feeling of deja vu with this article :s (Edit: Completely missed that in the first sentence, d'oh!)
For some games I'd prefer a constant 30 fps and a bit more "visual splendour", if at all possible.
For fast-paced affairs such as Mario Kart and Smash Bros, I'd say 60 fps as the action is more important than the spectacle.
I think the #1 target graphically should be a consistent frame-rate, whether 30 or 60 fps. No matter how nice a game looks, the illusion drops when the game starts to lag.
While I've never owned the original Xbox, I've made fair use out of the backwards compatibility of the 360, so have played my fair share of Xbox games.
I think it was a pretty solid system. Halo was excellent, which helped. They also secured quite a lot of interesting exclusives, with quite a strong Sega presence, which I found appealing.
Finally, I really like the aesthetic of the console - the green game cases, the black and green box, and both controllers with their multicoloured buttons. It provided a nice contrast to the Gamecube (which I also loved), and the PS2 (which to this day I feel looks dull as hell).
£200 is very cheap, but a good price if they want to be competitive with Sony and Microsoft, as it seems the PS4 and XBO are getting better bundles every other week.
I hope this doesn't come with a significant sacrifice to the core system (power, battery, etc.!)
@Gorlokk I'd also love to see gen 1 re-remade, seeing as even the remakes Fire Red and Leaf Green are years older than Diamond and Pearl, and the oldest games not to have a remake.
Like other remakes you'd have updates to the mechanics. They could also pull a HGSS and add a few new Pokemon to the Pokedex, and make some slight alterations to the story.
RGBY to FRLG was a step up, but Gen 1 reimagined in full 3D, another 4+ generations onwards, could be massive.
This is pretty standard for their handheld consoles. For the most part, Nintendo drop support and focus on the next thing, however the previous gen handheld usually has a bit more life to it and there's usually a bit of overlap between the two handhelds.
...and usually the last big hit for the handheld, a Pokemon game, appears after the release of the new device (Pokemon Crystal for GBC/GBA, Emerald for GBA/DS, Black 2 / White 2 for DS/3DS).
I personally don't see anything wrong with the "duo" logo (why can't Nintendo be all lowercase?), however there's so much buzz over absolutely nothing at this point that I couldn't possibly believe a thing until we hear official word from Nintendo.
I think this is an excellent idea. Amiibo have been a huge success among those who already own Nintendo consoles...imagine if they opened up to a whole new market! It's also a great opportunity to give some of their lesser-known IPs some great exposure. I can also see them being integrated well within a free-to-play environment.
I thought it looked fairly good and that's today's presentation would lift people's opinions on it...clearly I was wrong, as it's being down-voted massively on YouTube and receiving its fair share of negative comments on other news sites. I really don't get the unconditional hate for this game...
Disappointing as I like to go physical when I can, and it was an extra thing to differentiate this from the previous virtual console releases. Glad however at its pricing. I'll still be picking this up as six Megaman games on the go can't be a bad thing.
I really wanted to like this game, but after several attempts at the Wii U and 3DS at a number of events in the UK, I'd been completely put off =/ It appears the reviews aren't doing much to help...

Re: Nintendo Switch Will Cost £279.99 In The UK
Way too high. As an enthusiast I'm put off a little by the price - I can't imagine what this would mean for the larger market.
The weak pound probably hasn't helped =/

Re: Feature: 10 Essential Wii U And 3DS Platformers
Great list. I've played 8/10 of these (not yet got round to Kirby and Rayman) and they're all great fun.
I really wish we see the return of 3D platformers with the Switch, however.
Re: Reggie Confirmed For On-Stage Appearance At The Game Awards 2016

Re: Video: Fans Are Getting Bent Out Of Shape By The New Pokémon Sun And Moon Anime
I really, really, fail to see what's wrong with it.
In my opinion the hand-drawn-like style gives it a lot more character than the anime has had in the past decade or so. I really like it.
