Re: Soapbox: Why Do We Want More Games When We've Already Got Too Many?

BigKing

@BubbleMatrix82 The hell are you even talking about? I already paid $20, the service sucks. I don't care about the money(I own a PS4 + PSVR + $60 Playstation Plus ever year, Virtual Boy I bought on one of my trips to Japan and so on), I care about the service and it's not good. The NES games are boring as hell and nearly unplayable in handheld mode with the small buttons and lack of D-pad.

I'd rather have a good $100 service from Nintendo than a bad $20 one. I already have Netflix, Google Play Music and Playstation Plus, all which are way more expensive but are worth their money. Oh, and Apple and Disney are horrible companies with bad products.

It sounds like you're more in that 'McDouble sandwich' league. That's cool, but stop telling other people that they are wrong for wanting a better service that they would gladly pay for.

Re: Nintendo Reveals The Last New Stage Set To Appear In Splatoon 2

BigKing

@-Green- that wasn't really a problem, it gave the game more depth because you had to change your weapons and strategies based on the stages. To get to S+ you really needed to figure out all the levels and weapons/subs. In Splatoon 2 this isn't really the case. It's really easy to cruise to S+ and you can use the same play style on every level. Splatoon 1 forced you to adept.

Re: Hover - The Closest You'll Get To Jet Set Radio On Switch

BigKing

@ilikeike We need a new Jet Set Radio though.

Everybody who loves JSR played it at least on 2 different platforms (Dreamcast, HD version and possibly even the mobile one). It's time for something new.

And while it's still an amazing game, the gameplay mechanics are kinda awkward and sometimes downright frustrating

Re: Velocity 2X - A Finely-Tuned Arcade Extravaganza That Will Seriously Test Your Talents

BigKing

@kobashi100 What I say is that if so many games score a 90(in one month!) that means that is the new 70 and scores should be adjusted accordingly.

And yes, if games get re-released years later I expect improvements. Or how about a sequel? That isn't unreasonable. Re-releasing for full price is lazy. They had four years to create some new levels and justify a higher price tag.

A 90 should be used to indicate that a game is head and shoulders above everything else. It should be in must-buy territory, potential classics that will be remembered for years. There can't be 13 must-buys in one month. It's not like this is the greatest month in video game history or even for the Switch.

I am not saying that this is a bad game, I say that I am not sure if it's really great because everything gets a 90 on this site. It makes it hard to pick out the gems.

@electrolite77 @kobashi100 @imgrowinglegs

OH BUTZ METACRITIC!!

That's why I don't take gaming 'journalism' seriously. They are just fanboys. It's still a 4 year old indie title that was in a humble bundle a few years ago.

This is just the last month:

Velocity 2X: 90
Capcom Beat 'Em Up Bundle: 90
Xenoblade Chronicles 2: Torna ~ The Golden Country: 90
Undertale: 90
NBA 2K19: 90
Bastion: 90
Gone Home: 90
Planet Alpha: 90
Into the Breach: 90
Hyper Light Drifter: 90
The Messenger: 90
Monster Hunter Generations Ultimate: 90
Bad North: 90

get outta here, most of these are year old rehashed of games that were less than $5 on most other platforms.

Re: Feature: 5 Times Sony Shamelessly Copied Nintendo

BigKing

@bitleman Kiwami 2 looks amazing.

Most of the games you named look boring as hell and very similar. Give me the stylized graphics any day. A punch in Street Fighter looks harder to me than in UFC 3. You like the big budget snoozefests. That's good. You probably like Hollywood movies with special effects too.

Re: Limited Run Games Reveals Golf Story Collector's Edition, Pre-Order Next Friday

BigKing

What's there to like about a VHS tape or a golf ball? Why didn't you buy a golf ball before? Should all games come with golf balls and VHS tapes?

The whole company does nothing more than churning out collector's editions. Collector's editions used to be something special to celebrate something. Now it's just business and every indie game gets a run of the mill collectors edition. Bundle some crap, sell it for four times the original price.

Hell even the included items aren't anything original.

You know those were the first things they came up with.

**We need to make a collector's edition for a game about golf**
'How about we add a golf ball and a trophy and sell it for $80?'

Re: Limited Run Games Reveals Golf Story Collector's Edition, Pre-Order Next Friday

BigKing

@RupeeClock Celebration of the gaming medium? Nah, it's just consumerism. You don't celebrate a thing by buying a golf ball and fake trophy. But I guess that's what marketing does to people. It's already a completed product, it's fine without the toys. Actually, it's better. It's the same game for cheaper and you don't end up with crap you don't need but don't want to throw away.

But hey, the gamers end up with an ugly fake trophy on their shelf and the guys at LRG pop champagne bottles and snort cocaine off strippers with the money you throw at them.

@titotito3399 But why? Sometimes you need to dig deep into your soul. What is the void you're trying to fill? Those boxes don't bring you true happiness. As soon as you buy one, a new one is already announced.

Re: Feature: 5 Times Sony Shamelessly Copied Nintendo

BigKing

@bitleman I was talking about hardware. But Japanese garbage? Stay off that crystal meth bro. Stop sippin lean.

If you want gameplay you get Japanese games. If you want the cookie cutter cinematic cutscene walking simulators with good graphics then you get American games.

Re: Limited Run Games Reveals Golf Story Collector's Edition, Pre-Order Next Friday

BigKing

@RupeeClock That's the whole point. Consumers are dumb, they buy into the 'Collectors Edition' crap and are willing to spend top dollar on an inferior product just because they hope it will increase in value(it won't). You're not a collector because you bought a collector's edition.

The games that increase in value are usually the ones that were overlooked when they were released. Games that were released at the end of a console lifetime, that were pulled(possibly due to an expired license) or that became more popular after the sequels. Not this artificially created scarcity. $80 for an indie game with a golf ball is not the smartest investment. It's a $15 indie title with $5 worth of toys.

But that's why I like them. They milk the greedy scalpers and the type of dumb gamers who keep their games sealed on their shelf.

Re: Limited Run Games Reveals Golf Story Collector's Edition, Pre-Order Next Friday

BigKing

@RupeeClock Wow, a VHS tape of the ingame videos for all those people who don't even have a VHS recorder anymore. And you can probably just watch it on Youtube.

VHS tape, golf balls and fake trophies for $50 added on top. All crap if you ask me.

The reason why these games are printed a few thousand times is just because the demand is low. It's a great business model though, so don't get me wrong: the peeps at Limited Run Games are smart as hell... their customers not so much.

Re: Nintendo Offering Exclusive Splatoon 2 Gear For 12-Month Switch Online Subscribers

BigKing

@Razer The Switch isn't that powerful. It's basically the Nvidia Shield hardware from 2015. The only reason it's the most powerful handheld hardware is because they're the only one. If Sony didn't pull out, we would've had a PS Vita 2 that was way more powerful. Hell the Vita supports voice chat, bluetooth headphones, has a browser and plays older PSX games instead of just NES games.

The thing with Nintendo is that they have been a generation behind for over a decade now. It's not only the graphics, but we even get old games from way back. You know the next Nintendo console will get PS4 graphics and PS4 ports. And all Nintendo fans will be celebrating it.

The first party games are the ONLY reason I buy Nintendo consoles. Other than that it has been pretty terrible for years and it seems like they've even gotten lazy with their first party games. No new Mario Kart(they didn't even bother to include more tracks), Smash Bros looks like Smash 4 Ultimate with a whole bunch of rehashed content.
A console version of Pokémon should be like what Monster Hunter World is compared to the 3DS games. A big open online world. Not that gimmicky stuff they are releasing in november.

Where are F-Zero, Mother/Earthbound, Wave Race, 1080, Star Fox, Rhythm Heaven, Wario Ware, Sin & Punishment, Advance Wars, Kid Icarus, Golden Sun, Pokemon Snap? How about a 3D Yoshi or Kirby game? Hell, tell Konami to make a new Mystical Ninja Starring Goemon. Recruit the Timesplitters team to make a FPS with split screen multiplayer like Goldeneye/Perfect Dark. Do something.

Nah let's make Luigi's Mansion 3. Who the hell wanted that?

Re: UK Charts Reveal That Only 2% Of NBA 2K19's Launch Sales Were On Switch

BigKing

@JaxonH Revelations, that's a 3DS port, nobody cared about that on the PS4. You know why? Because they have Resident Evil 7 and everything before that.

Let's talk about the games with a bigger profile: Doom? Wolfenstein 2? LA Noir? Skyrim? NBA 2K? FIFA?

There is a reason why third party developers are reluctant to get on board. Even Ubisoft is ignoring the Switch besides some family friendly games.

It was the same on the Wii U. And the Wii. And the Gamecube. And the N64.

Re: Nintendo Offering Exclusive Splatoon 2 Gear For 12-Month Switch Online Subscribers

BigKing

@Razer I'm not only about competitive gaming. I like the Nintendo titles too like Mario Odyssey. I played Zelda, Mario Kart and already on the Wii U.

The thing is that I need to buy almost every Nintendo console for only a few games. Other than that, they're just really lazy: from the underpowered hardware to the lacklustre online support to the horrible third party support. It has been the same since forever. Now they're also recycling all their old games. The Wii U had games like Tekken, Mass Effect and Call of Duty, free online and N64/DS/SNES VC. Now they come with 3 NES games a month and mobile ports.

I'm not just being negative. The Switch has way more potential than it's current state, but fanboys are parading every turd, so publishers don't even care. They just re-release some old PS3 titles and Humble Bundle games and get 9/10 reviews all over the place.
