Splatoon is one of my favorite games of all time. But the single player mode is just one of the worst I know. Too easy, slow and just dumb. Not even remotely close to Mario's genius level design.

Everything is way too easy, including the boss fights. Enemies are boring and dumb. The whole 'paint your own path' feel is nullified because the levels are so linear.

It would've been better if it had more sandboxy levels with some objectives. Or had the intensity of Salmon Run

And since when are PR talks a thing to go by? Holy christ, just look at the sales on any Nintendo platform. Even on the Switch, just compare the sales of a random old Nintendo Wii U port to those of a third party title. I remember third parties being 'very satisfied' with the Wii U and Nintendo around that time. Of course they were... It's almost like they're trying to sell their products...

@JayJ Yeah, just like you ignore that major third party publishers are never performing well on Nintendo platforms, a lot of times even when the Nintendo installed base is way bigger like on the Wii.

But you were talking about in indie developers when the subject was third party support. Lol, so predictable. Man, those ugly 2D retro platform games are a real alternative for triple A games released on other consoles. CoD, GTA, SF5? Nah, we got Animal Super Squad. Nintendo fans are delusional.

You must be talking about about some crappy indie title, because games like Doom, FIFA, LA Noire, Skyrim and NBA 2K18 sure as hell aren't breaking any records on the Switch.

Everybody knows third party games don't sell well on Nintendo consoles. Nintendo fans are always convinced it will bring a new audience to the console(it won't) but they don't buy the games themselves. Every generation it's the same. First one or two years you will get some third party support (mostly ports)and then it will die out.

Ubisoft won't be releasing any AAA games on the Switch anyway.

Those Bit Generations games on the GBA were amazing. Missing Sound Voyager though, that is one of the most unique games of all time.

This is a 3/10 game for me. Very very boring and shallow. And I really disliked this game, which a did not expect. No way it's 8/10

Rayman Legends is a free game on Playstation Plus this month. Otherwise it's still cheaper on PS4 than here on sale.

Even the physical Switch version is barely more expensive.

The (S)NES mini just showed how rotten the gaming community is. Everybody got so greedy and tried to screw each other over for a measly little amount.

Everybody who sold their NES Mini for more than the original price is just a sad person.

Nintendo should've hired that Mario 64 Online hacker. Now that would be something worth paying paying for. Dr Mario online? Not so much.

How about we stop making excuses for horrible moves by Nintendo? The online service years late and way worse than that of the competition.

I own almost every Nintendo console, including a Virtual Boy, but this is just horrible. It's not about the money(it's cheap), it's that they ask money for a crappy service with barely any online multiplayer games available.

Where are all the first person shooters like CoD/Battlefield/Destiny? Overwatch? Fortnite? Competitive sports games with a big community behind it? GTA? Competitive fighting games like Street Fighter V/Dragonball Fighterz/Tekken/Soul Calibur? Racing games?

On Switch you pay for Splatoon, Smash Bros and maybe some Mario Kart. And you get no voice chat/leaderboards or anything. It's basically just basic matchmaking.

The fact that nobody minds paying three times as much for PS+ but do for the Nintendo service just shows how bad it really is.

@Captain_Toad There won't be any. My whole point is that sports games flop on Nintendo consoles. The fact that Nintendo fanboys grasp onto PGA Tour 2010 further proves my point. That's the only sports game that sold more than on other consoles and only because of the motion controls.

I love Splatoon but the singleplayer is just horrible. Really boring and bland. The enemies are dumb, the levels forgettable. I don't like the floating platforms, make it feel like it uses a random level generator.

It would be better if the levels were bigger and less linear. More sandboxy with different routes to paint.

Nintendo found out that they could just re-release old games and charge full price.

No they don't. They offer a great service with a ton of content for systems with a ton of online games. You get hundreds of dollars worth of games every year that are actually worth playing. You have hundreds of online multiplayer games.

On the Switch you have a hundful of games and they give you nothing, besides old NES roms.

@maruse I don't have a problem paying for a great service. I have a problem paying for a crappy service. It doesn't matter how cheap it is. How does that not make sense to you? Even when PS+ is three times more expensive, it still offers way more value. I got a 103 games/apps/demos in my library and only own a PS4 for half a year.

I would have zero problems if it was more expensive but you got, let's say, Gamecube and Wii games every month instead of NES games. I would pay $60 a year if I could play No More Heroes and Killer 7 on the Switch. And even that is stretching it, considering that you get PS4 games on PS+

Online services are for the more hardcore gamers out there.

PlayStation Plus is more expensive but an amazing service. You got tons of online games, free to play games, sales with retail games for ($5-$10) and free games every month, including 2 Switch games(Rime, Rayman) the last few months that would've cost more than PS+. Plus the ecosystem is way more engaging, with trophies and video streaming.

On the Switch you pay to play the maybe two online games you own, get crappy 10% off discount on games that are cheaper in regular stores and get crappy nes games. Wooohooo Dr Mario and Balloon kid.

This is the worst service ever. Just embarrassing.

On the Switch I will pay $20 a year just to play splatoon and Smash Bros when it comes out. Switch has no games.

I'm amazed by how many releases the Switch gets and how many of them suck. This is rivaling the OG Wii in crappy games to total ratio.

For every 20 games there are 0 good ones.

It seems like every developer/publisher wants a piece of the Switch pie, but none of them wants to put any effort into it.

@moe_vega I also love DKC and even Donkey Kong Land on the Gameboy. The newer games are pretty bad though. Very linear level design with almost no verticality, movement feels less precise. Donkey Kong controls like the rhino from DKC. No button for running like in Mario/DKC. Gameplay seems more trial and error(memorization) instead of exploration.

@Laxeybobby Local multiplayer CoD on the Wii U was probably the most fun I had on the console. One person on the gamepad and the other on the tv. They were cheap as hell to pickup too.

Everytime I go to Japan(4 times in the last 10 years) some arcades are closed or the video game cabinets are replaced with UFO catchers(crane games).

Still, Japan remains one big playground for adults.

I guess this won't be the huge 3D home console adventure everybody is hoping it would be, but more similar to the 3DS versions but in higher res.
