@saintayu All those Final Fantasy games(some of them Vita ports) can't hide the fact that the Switch does not get XV. Same for Monster Hunter Worlds. Dark Souls Remaster is no substitute for Dark Souls 2 & 3.
Outlast 1 & 2 are fun and decent digital only titles, but no triple A games. And those are lacking: barely any third party triple A titles.
Luckily I have my PS4. The Switch is fun for intercontinental flights and some Splatoon. Other than that it's a drought until Smash Bros.
I've been telling you this for months, but every time all those stans keep saying the same things: stop trolling, the 3rd party support is just on the way, just wait and see!!!
And then developer after developer keeps telling you what I said for ages: the Switch just isn't powerful enough to run the newest current gen games.
So basically you are all bullying me for speaking the truth.
@Wexter I don't hate Panic Games, I dislike the gamers who use Panic Button ports as a false narrative as to why it would be lucrative/possible to port PS4 games to the Switch. It barely ever is, unless it costs very little work, just like with the id Tech engine and ports of older games.
That is a totally different story than porting something that runs on a custom engine. And it shows time and time again. It's not the developers who are at fault here, yet Nintendo stans keep bashing developers who cannot port their games over. It's really sad.
@Wexter You don't know anything about development do you? Do you even code?
That an engine runs on different hardware does not mean it scales like id Tech does. id Tech allows for dynamic resolutions and 'streams' assets. id Software has always been known for pushing weaker hardware with smart optimizations. Unreal Engine was never known for that. It was always heavy.
Warframe is another 5 year old game. Totally different situation than here. Fallout also runs on a custom engine.
If Panic Button were the most talented developers in the industry... then they wouldn't be making Switch ports.
And Rocket League improved massively on the Switch after Panic Button stopped working on it.
The fact that you talk about Fortnite shows you have no idea what you are talking about. The whole idea with Fortnite was that they wanted to have it running on as much hardware as possible. That's why they went with the basic cartoony look.
@hadrian Yeah the people who scream 'Panic Button' usually aren't the brightest of the bunch. Quite the opposite. All they did was configuring the id Tech engine and changing some assets.
And somehow that convinced all the fanboy n00bs that they can port any PS4/Xbox game to the Switch.
@Indielink 'Objectively speaking'... That's where the KDKKSKDB sets in with the reviews. People don't really like the game, but try to objectively review it and give it higher scores because they think somebody else might like it. That's why games like God of War score so high. Game journalists copy paste their opinions and are too scared to go against the grain.
'Strings 8 or 9s can very simply mean that it's a good month. What is NL supposed to do? '
The last months have been nothing special. Those are usually the weaker months before the bigger releases at the end of the year.
Hell most of these games are full priced re-releases of 6 year old indie games that run worse than the original, but still somehow manage to score an 8 or 9.
But that's ok. For you every somewhat fun 3 hour game should score an 8+. My standards are higher.
@NoxAeturnus the lack of storage is part of the Switch being underpowered and it's a valid argument. So is the low return of investment because Switch owners are the worst
@Indielink My point is that the average game should score 6/7. Games that are good and better than average should score an 8. Truly great games a 9 and near perfect classics a 10.
When every game scores an 8 or 9 it devalues the scores of all games. A 9 is nothing special if 20 games get a 9 in one month.
Just because I have a good job or because the reviewers get free games does not mean that the games offer more than other games. A fun game with shortcomings like a very short length is still a game with shortcomings. There is nothing wrong with a score of a 6 or 7.
God of War is one of the examples that shows that gaming journalists tend to overrate everything and blindly follow the hype and marketing dollars. That game seems really boring and repetitive to me. Looks like a walking simulator with some axe throwing and pretty graphics. I don't believe for a second that nearly every critic out there thought this was one of the best games of all time.
And that's my point. You probably regretted that game because you thought it would be amazing judging by all the raving reviews.
I like how the Nintendo fanboys always bash the games that won't come to the Switch because the Switch is underpowered.
Then some old PS3 era game gets a re-release and they're all like: WOW DAY ONE PURCHASE, LOOK AT THAT THIRD PARTY SUPPORT!!1
Switch storage is a real issue. Just look at the horribly compressed audio in some games, how the world of Xenoblade Chronicles 2 is less detailed than that of X and so on.
This reminds me a lot of Tokyo Mirage Sessions with it's Shibuya setting. Hope the graphics get improved though, because it looks like an upscaled PSP game.
@Indielink bastion is mediocre at best and an old 7 year old indie title that has been on sale plenty of times. Pinstripe does look like a flash game, you can even play a demo in your browser at newgrounds: https://www.newgrounds.com/portal/view/692487
Outcry over MK4? It's the second best selling Switch game. Like I said; Switch gamers love getting ripped off.
Most review sites are ran by fanboys who overrate everything. A 100? Really? You think this is up there with the best games ever made?
@Supadav03 So if a mobile game sells 500 ingame socks for $1 each and they release a Switch version for $200 with all the 500 socks, that's a great deal.
@Supadav03 Who the hell buys everything for a mobile game? Saying it's a bad deal because you could spend more on buying all items on a mobile game is ridiculous.
@Indielink You can get full triple A titles in the PS store for less than $10. This is one of those indies that were in a humble bundle and now get milked on the Switch.
It's like how Bastion got a 9/10 here for $15, when you can get it in a bundle wih Scribblenauts Unlimited, Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor, Batman Arkham Origins and Injustice for $4.12
Switch gamers love getting ripped off every time but everybody seems to be in denial.
And no NintendoLife is not on the mark, it's once again scores it higher than average. A 6 or 7 for a 3 hour $15 game that looks like it was made in Flash isn't that bad. This isn't Ikaruga.
I hate this new lazy 'recycle everything' from Nintendo. If you only get one Rhythm Tengoku/Heaven, Wario Ware, Mario Kart and Smash Bros then I want totally new content and not some remastered old things.
@Dalarrun Yeah what is the big deal when a 6 year old game from a previous gen console advertised as a remaster isn't running properly? I don't understand why you don't like frame drops. Because 60fps only matters for FPS and online competitive games. I mean, it makes sense that a complicated 3D FPS runs at 60fps, but this 6 year old 2D indie title is struggling.
@mister_magnus That's the problem with reviews these days. Nobody really tests the game anymore. Especially here they pass out 9 outta 10 scores like skittles.
How can you give a near perfect score and not test the game in undocked mode? How is that credible?
Plus a remaster should run better than the original.
I understand though, everybody is running to get the first review online. There is no time to thoroughly play the game. Just make stuff up.
The COD games were some the best couch multiplayer games on the Wii U. Player vs player, gun game, one person the gamepad, the other on the tv. I also play CoD MW3(which they gave away for free on PS+) locally, great fun.
Now that I think of it: where are the split screen multiplayer FPS games on the Switch?
Ah, other 9/10 on NintendoLife, so that must mean it's more near a 7 or 8 on other sites.
Especially with the:
'Its gameplay loop does run out of steam after a while thanks to the required grind'
Which sounds like standard Ubisoft fare and stuff that I tend to avoid at all costs. Nothing more boring than games that are padded with repetitive tasks.
But that first stage in Sonic Adventure 2 (Dreamcast ofcourse) where you dropped out of a helicopter with the catchy music... that is one of the best levels in gaming of all time.
@Richnj Ofcourse we aren't there yet, it's the first generation. First generation consoles were way worse.
But it's already very good.
What about playing with a buddy? VR is actually a very social thing. It's really fun to have someone playing and have other people watching on the tv and giving the player tips. It also encourages you to pass the headset to other players because a lot of games aren't made for very long sessions. Besides that, there are also games with asynchronous multiplayer, so where one player uses the PSVR and others use the tv. PSVR gave me the best couch multiplayer sessions of this generation. More so than my Switch, which I use more in handheld mode.
Even girls who don't like consoles(besides Mario Kart) loved VR.
@Richnj Like I said before, it does not have to replace anything. It's a totally new experience.
The difference with 3D tv's is that 3D tv's did not really add to the gameplay. You just saw depth.
With VR it totally changes the way you play. You don't control the camera with a thumbstick, you ARE the camera and look around. There is no disconnect. Motion controls aren't vaguely mapped to something on screen, you actually see your hands moving in 3D and where you expect them to be and actually have the idea you can grab stuff.
Flying around on a 3D tv does not have the same effect as actually being able to look around you. Same for first person games. Horror games actually become scary when you have a feeling of presence.
The only problem I have with Taiko No Tatsujin is the huge skill gap between normal and hard. It goes from hitting all the notes to how the hell am I going to do this?
@Razzy you don't need to look into the future, it's already awesome.
Besides that, it's not so hard to see which tech has potential. It reminds me of when the first smartphones were released(way before the iPhone) and people were like: who needs a color screen on a cellphone and who is going to use internet on such a small screen?
@Richnj VR doesn't have to be a standard, it is a new way of experiencing things. It doesn't replace your casual couch gaming sessions, you can still do that. Some games are better without VR, some are impossible without
@impurekind get it man, trust me. I know the trailers and stuff aren't that impressive, but it that Area X is magical. The best VR experience to me, right next to Superhot

So many.
Doom is from 2016 and runs worse than on any console back in that year.
Where is Red Dead Redemption 2?
Re: Bethesda Confirms It Won't Be Bringing Fallout 76 To The Nintendo Switch

Re: Review: NBA 2K Playgrounds 2 - Microtransactions Can't Sink This Enjoyable B-Ball Romp
Well, this is NintendoLife.
The last month they reviewed about 20 games that got a 9/10, so an 8 is actually low.
On NintendoLife you need to subtract 2 points of the score on every review. So this is a 6.
Just read what they're writing: 'It doesn’t quite capture the blissful mayhem of NBA Jam,'
NBA Jam is an 8 outta 10 game. This one is worse and has microtransactions. You do the math.
