Re: Wall Street Journal Reports That Nintendo NX Will Indeed Use Flash-Based Game Cards

Arctic_Nights

This might get buried in the comments section but recently I re-watched Nintendo's 2012 E3 presentation. When they discussed the Wii U they talked about wanting to free up the TV (Off-TV Play). They said it couldn't be dependent to just the TV because for the past 30 years they always were. So they wanted the Wii U to have its own screen to break away from being tied to only one screen. So I can see the NX being a portable console that isn't dependent on a TV screen. So the carts make sense if you have a hybrid system. We will know more in a few weeks time.

Re: Tatsumi Kimishima Reiterates That Nintendo NX Is A New Way Of Playing Games

Here's my interpretation when he says it isn't a pure replacement. Think about the Wii U and what it was intended to do. Everything you had for the Wii and everything it could do (minus playing GameCube games and some other small features) could be done on the Wii U. The thing was designed as a total replacement for the Wii.

Now the NX could be a game changer, or it could be a flop. I'm keeping an open mind about it for now. If it is a "new way of playing games" then I'm excited for it. We were all taken by surprise (for better or worse) when the Wii released in 2006. Sure the motion controls were odd at first, but they were fun... when they worked. I'm hoping for a big surprises that catches everyone off guard when the NX is revealed later this year. I would be surprised if the concept of the NX brought integration of all your devices together. Home console, portable gaming (3ds, etc), mobile gaming, and the likes of that all together somehow.

But to get back on topic. I think the best thing to do is sit back and wait. The announcement could come in mid September at the Tokyo Game Show, or in a direct. As for now, I'm happy to just wait and see.

This article is the poster child of clickbait. Whoever thought this was a great topic to write about and keep the comments open is ridiculous. This shows a serious lapse in judgement. The comment section isn't full of constructive discussions, just a lot of arguing. I'd expect to see this on a Gawker site, but not here.

Re: Nintendo Is Ending DS Phat Repairs In Japan

I haven't seen the offer to repair a DS Phat in the US for a while. Anyways i've been looking for a replacement housing for my silver phat for a while. Can anyone link or suggest places to find a quality replacement housing? I would love to repair my hinge.

I stopped by my local store last night. Asked if there any special events going on this Saturday. The employee confirmed the store would open 1 hour early on Saturday for an "event". They strongly hinted at coming an hour earlier before the store opens early in order to wait outside. Hinting that there will be limited quantities for this event and it is first come first serve. There was no mention about having a PowerUp Rewards Card to get in early.
