Re: Feature: Six Things That Need To Change In The Zelda: Ocarina Of Time Remake

-wc-

@AussieMcBucket

"I'll bet we're getting both though."

in the fullness of time, this must be correct. I mean one would hope.

"And there's probably a decent chance that this is partly meant to hold us over until the next "new" one gets here."

You may be right, but announcing this when we haven't had a new Zelda game like Ocarina in like 15 years just isn't the move. I would be way more receptive of this game, say, four years into this cycle, after we've had plenty of original titles and sequels and this is in addition to that. ditto star fox.

or if they like, SUPER teased a new Zelda game, and then soon after announced this and even released this before the new Zelda, I think that'd even be better.

anyway if they want to "do Ocarina" again they could do something so much more interesting than a remake, a la Link Between Worlds. Or Majora, in a different way. my 2c.

Re: Feature: Six Things That Need To Change In The Zelda: Ocarina Of Time Remake

-wc-

reading this article and comments made me really sad for this all time favorite, almost perfect game. in a lengthy era in which we have been begging and pleading for a new Zelda game with dungeons and logical narrative, they are working on messing with an established classic instead.

especially putting more "interesting" (i.e. boring/pointless) crap in the field. my god, are we trying to make prime 4 more like ocarina, or ocarina more like prime 4?

Re: Kingdom Hearts Collection Key Art Has Fans Sleuthing To Work Out If AI Was Used

-wc-

@Wexter

"not defending the use of AI, but professional animators ***** that up all the time."

just go get the pedantics/semantics out of the way, animators get away with lots of errors that would not likely be tolerated in front facing illustrations such as this. (Liefeld notwithstanding 😂)

I'm aware of Liefeld 😂😂 but I'd counter for starters that if it was all that common in the world of professional art, Liefeld wouldnt be "Liefeld," would he?

I'd be extremely surprised if anyone reading this can provide an example this egregious, on professionally produced box art, from any time between say 2000-2020.

Re: Kingdom Hearts Collection Key Art Has Fans Sleuthing To Work Out If AI Was Used

-wc-

@AmplifyMJ

thanks for expanding on that. I actually think we can both be right on this one, or rather that two things can be true at the same time. ✌️

but, I do believe strongly that all gamers want to enjoy games! 👍 and we all have different ideas about what that even means, and what is enjoyable about games, and what might make a game un-enjoyable.

on the other hand, there are also people that are even on the internet, or following Nintendo per se for reasons other than just personal passion for the games (not us of course 😎) and I may be a bit slow to acknowledge that. so thanks for reminding me.

as far as being stung, I think tone is hard on the internet, and I can be kind of severe in my argumentation. My aim was to get a well reasoned retort and I got it! thanks my friend 😊

Re: Kingdom Hearts Collection Key Art Has Fans Sleuthing To Work Out If AI Was Used

@AmplifyMJ

"Nobody wants to just enjoy anymore, we want to find a reason to ruin and boycott everything, and the media only amplifies the worst instead of celebrating and enjoying the best. Tiresome"

how dare you accuse other videogame fans of not wanting to enjoy games? it's so preposterous on its face that I don't believe you actually think that, frankly.

in truth, the corporations are ruining everything and we've simply had the gall to notice.

in my opinion, what's tiresome is the insistence that the only important thing is personal enjoyment when it comes to consuming media.

Re: Zelda: Ocarina Of Time Remake Is Real, And It's Launching This Year

-wc-

@VeganH

"This is for 2 types of people. 1, the people who played the original and wanted a remake. And 2, the new generation of gamers who've never played the original. For the others, nintendo doesn't care about you."

yes, I am the "played ocarina many times and not interested in a remake" type, and I'm feeling the "doesn't care" hard from my canonical favorite company ever lately on many levels.

Re: Zelda: Ocarina Of Time Remake Is Real, And It's Launching This Year

-wc-

@Skunkfish

Thanks for asking! 😊

A new Zelda game that has dungeons and is not "open world" in the sense that it has a logical narrative and progression would be a good start.

But, if it has to be open world, "non linear," and for some reason dungeons are off the table, then something new that isn't another BOTW retread

Re: Nintendo Fined €35 Million Over Widespread Joy-Con Defects

-wc-

Nintendo remains stubborn over the issue, however, stating that it did not mislead customers and that paying the €35 million fine "does not constitute an admission of guilt and reflects only the amicable resolution of legal proceedings."

obv the important thing is that they've learned nothing.

Re: Feature: Nintendo Switch 2: Year One - Looking Back, How Would You Rate It So Far?

-wc-

I'm really glad for the people here that are having a blast with their Switch 2s! That's what it's all about, truly. 👍👍

Personally, Nintendo has lost its lustre for me and its a bit of a stretch to imagine the Switch 2 "killer app" that would really bring it back. I need a true "return to form" sequel for Zelda and/or Mario, in either 2D or 3D, or an out of the blue excellent Pilotwings, F-zero, or even Excite game, and in all honestly it's no longer a matter of "will they," but rather, "can they," even if they wanted to. 😕

Again, I'm certainly happy for the people that are into Pokopia, Tomodachi, and Yoshi, but we are far from the Nintendo that I loved for decades at this point. ✌️

Re: UK Charts: 007 First Light Leaves The Competition Shaken

-wc-

@WeHaveKirbyAtHome

I hadnt considered that angle, but perhaps I didnt make it clear: I dont particularly care about the breakdown, but it just so happens that the breakdown is the only place on the chart one might see a platform mentioned, at all. does that make sense?

it seems normal and customary to have a column for the platform that the game exists on. to me, that is the relevant information. I dont actually care which platform a multiplatform game sold best on, personally. ✌️

Re: UK Charts: 007 First Light Leaves The Competition Shaken

-wc-

these are the only industry wide game sales charts ive seen in my 3+ decades of following such that don't mention the platform for each game in the list. I can't imagine why you've chosen to do it this way, but it does make the chart very uninteresting to look at or follow week to week, at least for me personally.

just to point one out: mortal kombat X has appeared on the list, with no breakdown of platform split, not any mention of the many platforms it is on, at all.

@JimNorman

"While it wasn't confirmed at the time, the removal statement came the very same day that Epic Games announced it was laying off over 1,000 staff members — Aquiris was acquired by Epic back in 2023, let's not forget. So you can see how dots could be connected there."

Jim, would you mind connecting those dots for us? it seems your audience is not quite following, myself included ✌️

Re: Mina The Hollower Is Now Metacritic's Highest-Rated Game Of 2026

-wc-

@Otimus

this is an interesting take. I think an experienced gamer can look at a game (or play a well designed demo) and determine "yes this game seems worth X amount" whether they put the money down themselves or not. but i take your point that its only "real" if it was your X amount and youve already laid it down and are playing your paid for copy.

For example, I thought generically that TOTK would be worth 70 bucks because "hell, its a ZELDA game!" and I certainly got my moneys worth out of BOTW, and from videos and screenshots it appeared to be more of the same. but then once id spent the money and started playing, the cold hard truth finally hit me and I wouldnt spend 20 dollars on that game, in retrospect.

Re: Valve Follows Switch 2, PS5 & Xbox With Major Steam Deck Price Hike

-wc-

@HalBailman

I like prices that reflect the value of the item in question, as I see it. I am very skeptical of people on team Valve or team Nintendo, et al, accusing one company of the same practices they excuse "their" company for.

Generally, lower prices are good. As a consumer, I'm not obligated to think harder about it than that, period. I'm not an industry analyst, and I think people pretending to do a job that people actually get paid to do, just to justify spending more money on the same product are seriously misguided, regardless of which "horse" they like in the race.

The Steamdeck was the best value in gaming last year, when the LCD was 399 at full price. I love mine. If I lost it (heaven forbid,) would I spend ~1k to replace it? Hell no.

EDIT - 5000th comment 🍻

Re: Nintendo Expands Switch Online's N64 Library With Another Game Next Week

-wc-

can't imagine what time has done to this game, given its tepid reception at the height of N64s (and DKs) (and 3D platformers') powers.

personally I played it for 5 or 10 minutes at a department store and that was enough for me, frankly.

OG DK, DK'94, and DKC1 will always be my favorite DK games, I suppose.

EDIT - random thought: imagine an OG DK made in the style of SMW, where mario controls like SMW mario and everything is designed/balanced around those mechanics. I think I might love that.

Re: Valve Follows Switch 2, PS5 & Xbox With Major Steam Deck Price Hike

-wc-

I feel like the luckiest kid in town, getting my Steamdeck LCD for 320 last October. I've been a hardcore Nintendo fan my whole life, until the Switch era, and Steamdeck is the rugged, "Nintendo tough," experimental yet conventional, logical, ergonomic, affordable, Dpad having console that I've been begging Nintendo to make for years. A modern GameBoy that was, and then wasn't.

Pour one out for the Steamdeck. I'll be clinging to mine for the foreseeable future, for better and worse. ✌️

Re: Valve Follows Switch 2, PS5 & Xbox With Major Steam Deck Price Hike

-wc-

@HalBailman

Now THAT'S a price "hike!" 😅

@the_beaver

"Now the Switch 2 is even more worth it."

it's exactly the same amount of "worth it" as it was yesterday.

@8th_Observer

"But Valve is so pro-consumer!!"

personally, I think they should open their veins, so the consumers can drink their blood.

Re: A New Tetris Game Is Heading To Switch Next Week

-wc-

@ShadLink

sure, but what do they mean?

its kinda weird releasing something like this pretending it makes sense, and everyone reading just sort of going along. whats the point of copy-pasting it at all? is this really what the company intends to communicate with its western audience?

Re: A New Tetris Game Is Heading To Switch Next Week

-wc-

"- Implemented in accordance with AI learning policy guidelines."

what is this fragment supposed to mean?

additionally, why would they "adjust" the difficulty of Master mode? is it easier or harder? why would Switch players want to be challenged differently? What's a "title name" and how has it been changed "as a result?"

what's a "USB keyboard connection type?"

Re: Round Up: 12 Switch 1 & 2* Games We Played At BitSummit 2026 - Here's What We Thought

-wc-

"Round Up: 12 Switch 1 & 2 Games We Played At BitSummit 2026"

"These Vikings will likely make it to a Nintendo Switch someday, although nothing is officially confirmed quite yet."

it kind of bugs me that y'all won't mention the breadth of platforms most games are coming to (Nintendo Power style) but on the other hand will discuss games that havent been announced for a Nintendo platform as though they are.
