"zero mission" has been on my backlog forever! i think I'll get into that and just pretend they aren't even making Metroid games anymore 😆 as a form of self care, haha
I'm gonna be real honest and say the only metroid games I've actually fallen in love with are og, super, and Prime 1, so the odds of this one really pleasing my tastes were pretty slim.
(OTOH i genuinely believe those are the best in the series, so I dont think it's unreasonable that I should want a new game that's more like those. ✌️ i give up hoping to see my taste reflected in nintendo's contemporary works again. ¡Viva la emulación!)
you know what? you've unlocked some third party repressed traumatic experiences for me 😂
I got tekken 2 and realized that if I didn't have a memory card, i couldnt retain the new fighters i was unlocking. so, I got my mom to take me to software etc... and i picked out a PERFORMANCE memory card! after all, it has SIXTEEN X the storage capacity of the more expensive sony one! ...
and yes, of course i wore out every third party controller i ever owned back in those days, while my first party controllers are mostly all still working to this day ✊
i remember all those "cooling" fan accessories, and i almost bought one for my glitching model 1 PSX, but it died first 😆 (i forget, was the PlayStation console first party? lol jk)
so, i take your point! I think in my mind the risks became so internalized and obvious that hearing you spell it out sounded odd to me, or over the top. ✌️ if that makes sense.
OTOH, I'll leave you with this:
If Nintendo made a TV and said "you should only play Switch 2 on this TV," there would be people on here saying "well thats your fault for not using a first party TV!!"💀✌️
"At least these probs can be fixed with updates and such….. back then it was HIGHLY recommended you stick with first party accessories due to compatibility issues as well as quality issues."
i grew up in the NES era. I always considered first party to be the benchmark, and generally my preference, ive used 3rd party stuff this whole time and never had a problem, and never really heard of them before the switch era either besides the boilerplate "warnings."
its funny how the "if you were interested in X, youd have already bought a Y" people randomly show up or don't for these announcements.
personally im bored with even hearing about these same two games over and over, but im not going to try to yuck anyone's yum if playing it again on the new thing appeals to them.
this is a ridiculous nitpick, but why cant they just call the movie "Super Mario Galaxy?" when did everyone start using only the "The blank Movie" format?
(if it's LEGO, at least that makes sense cause you cant just call the movie LEGO lol)
it seems like another tiny lurch towards Idiocracy, to me.
relax everyone, its just an excuse to talk about the big news from a Nintendo perspective. of course its a stretch to say anything with orthogonal faces and corners is basically a gamecube 😂
i missed steam machine the first time and i always wanted one, so im interested in this device but since i just got a steamdeck i cant justify even thinking about it.
but, i wont miss it again! if these like like they'll be phasing out of production again you can bet ill grab one.
and, that controller has serious potential, if its close to as good feeling and well featured as the deck controls. 👍
Man, was I curious about Tail of the Sun back in the day!
I'm still curious!
any art dink game is interesting by default. im delighted to hear about this "preservation project" and I really hope the games come to steam. (or, if they are really serious, GOG 👍)
(is putting a game on switch 2 really "preserving" it? honest question, i have my thoughts. ✌️)
"But the slide is important, because Kaneda is establishing himself in the movie; he is the one to beat, he is the 'hero', he is the character we’ll see the world through."
Respectfully, I disagree with this analysis. IMO the slide is part of a red herring, the narrative tricking the audience into believing Kaneda is the big hero in the making when actually he is just a tough kid, blindsided, perplexed, and humbled by the happenings of the film as the rest of us.
"Yeah, kind of feels like they wasted their opportunity to make a new F-Zero, eh?"
for me, it's the final insult. id be surprised if a single other racing game from nintendo comes out this entire generation, now that we've had two already.
fzero 4 should have been the blazing fast, rock solid HD showcase launch game to prove the switch 2 thesis, silence the haters, and demonstrate that Nintendo hadn't yet completely lost touch.
"(LttP's) dungeon and world design can be considered outdated, and the narrative is relatively linear by today’s standards [and] Nintendo would supposedly be wise to approach it in a similar way to the Switch remake of Link's Awakening."
surely they dont mean the remake of links awakening that did not to my knowledge alter the dungeon and world design or narrative 🤔
i recently got a steamdeck and I'm just so much happier with it on every level 😄 i shouldve realized it sooner, but my latent Nintendo fandom was still too strong.
in particular, the ergonomics, build quality, and flexibility are just light years ahead. the eshop is so much better it's not even funny, from the filtering, the promotions, the prices, and the actual performance of the app. the 16:10 screen is perfect for pc gaming and applications, and a perfect compromise for emulation and media.
not to mention, its a full on PC, all i had to do was hook it up to a mouse + keyb, and get a little usbc hub for a monitor. and, I didnt have a PC for many years, so thats huge for me. 👍
i realized over the switch generation that I'm just not that into what Nintendo is doing anymore, which is sad for me, but it is what it is! onward and upward.✌️❤️

i dont see the conflict, both say they plan to acquire developers.
unless we are hung up on the word "organically," which is actually meaningless corpo fluff language imo. 👍
[EDIT - I think I was reading it wrong. I took the word "over" to mean "by way of," as opposed to "in lieu of." ✌️ still, there's nothing "organic" about anything Nintendo does, regardless of how they hire talent or whatever it is, and I'll continue taking anything they "say" with a grain of salt.]
