Re: Soapbox: Nobody Does 'More Of The Same' Better Than Nintendo

xerneas

My problem with TotK boils down only to the fact that if we look at BotW, it was absolutely PACKED with surprises: there were countless new places to explore, so many interesting new mechanics and fun things to discover (like shield surfing, temperature variation, climbing, food, horse taming and the list goes on forever). So so many fresh things that it didn't even matter in the end that the story wasn't good or that there were no real dungeons.

But if TotK has the same overworld and most of those same mechanics overall, then it needs something new that is just as big, surprising and fun as BotW's new features were. You can't even compare these new four abilities + some sky islands with all those new and fresh features that BotW had. It's just not nearly enough to justify this being a MORE expensive game than BotW was.

I'm looking forward to knowing WHAT exactly are the huge and fresh surprises they are holding in store for us in TotK that will keep players hooked for 200-300+ hours on this game, like BotW did for many. If there isn't much anything substantial, then for most people who already have played the ***** out of BotW I think that this will be a ~30 hour game which never gets played anymore after going through the main story.

Re: Poll: What Did You Think Of The New Zelda: Tears Of The Kingdom Trailer?

I feel so bad for saying this, but honestly I was bored watching the gameplay... I don't really care for a lot of new mechanics and gimmicks, instead I would prefer many more new overworld areas (some separate, detached sky islands aren't doing the trick for me), themed dungeons, a lot of characters and an interesting story arch that keeps me hooked on the game.

I loved exploring in BotW and played it for over 300 hours. But I probably will never play it again from the beginning, I felt like it was "fresh" for just one playthrough honestly, since there was quite a lot of repetition (especially the shrines, divine beasts, copy-paste Bokoblin camps etc.). If this game is going to be mostly just more of that same repetition, I don't think I'm gonna buy it. But I sincerely hope I'm wrong!

Re: Eiji Aonuma On Zelda Tears Of The Kingdom: Expect New Gameplay That Will Change The Game World

xerneas

I'm not the only one who said this, but honestly I don't care for a Zelda that is just crammed full of side quest-y stuff like building and customising etc. From a Zelda game I want a solid, interesting, unexpected and touching story that is the driving force of the game and the things I'll do in the world. In BotW there really wasn't anything like this, the story was poor. A different kind of a sandbox-y Zelda was fun once, but I don't know if I'm interested in a second one.
I just wish they would make something similar again to OoT, Majora, TP... Just imagine a Zelda game like the good old ones but with modern day graphics and a larger world (not necessarily open though)

Re: Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Is Finally Getting DLC

xerneas

A bummer for someone like me who bought MK8 for Wii U 8 years ago... Was hopeful for MK9 and won't even be able to utilise this DLC since it's only for Deluxe. It sometimes sure feels like Nintendo wants to sh*t on everyone who trusted them and bought a Wii U back then

Re: New Zelda: Breath Of The Wild 2 Footage Shown, Aiming For A 2022 Switch Release

xerneas

One of the things I liked the least in BotW were the mobs: basically just Bokoblins, Lizalfos, Talus and Hinox over and over again. It got absolutely boring as heck and towards the end of the game I tried actively to avoid all battles. What concerns me is that the only battle we saw in this trailer was a Bokoblin camp on top of a... Stone Talus. How very interesting. 😐

Re: New Zelda: Breath Of The Wild 2 Footage Shown, Aiming For A 2022 Switch Release

I'm just worried that the game will feel mostly like a BotW expansion and not enough like a new game to keep me interested in it. BotW had virtually no story so if it's the same world mostly with the same npc's and as lackluster of a story, I don't know if I'll enjoy it. Hope I'm wrong! I've been loving Zelda games since OoT so it would be a real bummer if same thing happened to them as Pokemon these days.

Re: Nintendo Confirms Pokémon Omega Ruby & Pokémon Alpha Sapphire Special Demo Version

@Tsurii897 true, though before the current type GTS I always had a kind of a fascination with event pokemon and I would always go to those events even if they were far. They were also a chance to meet other Pokefans... these days they, luckily for some, just give everything through wifi tho.

I'm pretty sure they'll put a demo on eshop too. THey did with SSB, why not with this?

Re: Review: Hyrule Warriors (Wii U)

xerneas

@NintyMan I've never played a Warriors game but I'm really enjoying this so far. I don't find the quality bad either, honestly the nitpicking about the graphics especially is too much. I think it looks gorgeous mostly, so much better than any real Zelda game ever and that's enough for me.

Re: Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS Demo Smashes onto the EU eShop

xerneas

I don't get the big hype about the demo tho. There's almost nothing in there... but, the game really feels great! I am SO surprised about how good it looks honestly even on the small 3DS. I would definitely buy if I didn't have a Wii U. Great job nintendo! I wish I could try out more characters...

Re: Review: Hyrule Warriors (Wii U)

Buying it tomorrow, mainly because I'll get the free DLC pack. 50 euros is a bit rough price but whatever I guess I can treat myself once in a while haha. I think I will like it anyway.
