Re: Nintendo Obtains High Court Injunction Against Internet Service Providers To Block Switch Pirates

twztid13

@sanderev so you think everyone who pirates a game would buy it if they didn't pirate it? I've always known ppl who did it to play games they wouldn't buy, so that doesn't really seem to take money away from anyone. It doesn't make it right, though.

If companies like Nintendo continued to manufacture & sell their old games from legacy systems, it would eliminate the need for anyone to download ROMs for game preservation, but it doesn't seem important enough to them (not just them, but that's what's being discussed here),, sadly.

Re: Best Of 2021: Developers Respond To The Recent Twitter Furore Over The Definition Of 'Game Dev'

twztid13

@Ttim3r "your wrong" what? Your opinion is wrong, maybe? I think u mean "you're wrong?" 😜

This is good ol' social media type fun, am i right?

Regarding the subject, i have to say that QA, beta testers, etc aren't developers, sorry. I'm sure most on the team wouldn't care if they claimed to be such, since they contribute to the overall game development; But, since the term developer has a specific connotation among the gaming community, a distinction should be made in certain circumstances. A quality assurance employee could claim to be a "game developer" to deceptively influence people to think they have more creative control than they actually did (possibly to benefit from a Kickstarter, or donations of some sort, and other things like that). A job application would most likely require more detail, so i don't think they could use this in that manner, but there are probably other situations that I'm not thinking of where one could benefit by deceivingly suggesting they had more to do with the creation of a game, & it's direction. That's when i think a distinction should be made, personally. Otherwise, it doesn't really matter to most people, honestly (i don't think, anyways).

Re: Best Of 2021: The Exquisite Liminality Of Zelda: Skyward Sword

twztid13

I have to say, i usually don't agree with Kate's reviews that i have read, therefore I have started not to read them on games I'm interested in, especially that i know i will like (I'm only saying this to make what comes next that much more meaningful, not to hate), but this was a magnificent article. I really enjoyed it, great job!!

Re: Review: Chicory: A Colorful Tale - A Masterful Marriage Of Mechanics, Themes And Visuals

twztid13

I really wish the art style was different, it's so unappealing & basic looking to me. When art is the main theme, i think i would probably need to at least appreciate the look of a game I'm expecting to spend 25+ hours with, but with this game i keep thinking everyone speaking so glowingly about it has to be looking at a different game than what the screenshots show...? Oh well, maybe I'll snag it on sale.one day.

At least i learned a new word today (twee, which my phone tells me is misspelled, or doesn't recognize either, lol).

Re: GRIME Is A 'Soulslike Metroidvania' Heading To Switch Next Summer

twztid13

@bimboliquido no, it refers to dying & having to go collect all ur currency, etc from the spot where u died. That's a specific souls mechanic. So disappointed im that game FWIW. I planned on 100%, all of a sudden it ended when i was about 50% through it, just randomly, i thought there should have been tons of lore/story left. I never went back, except to see how it ran for series s when i got it. Wasted $25.

Re: Digital Foundry Gives Its Assessment Of Shin Megami Tensei V

twztid13

@kobashi100 exactly, the sales are great & most of us don't want to buy a new console again,, already. I think Nintendo is too Smart to split the player base between a pro & Normal system, which would screw developers (having go make 2 different versions of every game). A switch successor may come in a few years, but it's not needed ASAP, IMO.

The games all look great, they just need to be stylized & not photorealistic. Ppl who want that look have other systems they can play on. I like that look sometimes, but own PlayStation & Xbox, so i can get those game types if i need them. The games on the switch are perfect for me & i have been a graphics whore my entire life. I dislike the bad framerate, but that's present in bad games on every platform, not unique to switch. 1st party & quality games don't usually have that problem tho, anyways, on switch. I honestly haven't had any issues in SMT V yet, framerate wise. I've played mostly in docked, FWIW.

Re: Bill Gates Apparently Put "A Lot Of Pressure" On Xbox's Team Leaders To Respond To The Wii Craze

twztid13

@Anti-Matter the hardware is what matters, but not 10 years later. You have to support hardware when it's normal price at retail. If you buy it from second hand, or when it's not sold in retail anymore, that doesn't help at all. They need it to sell well to know people like it, not just comments on websites they will never see. The games usually only help the publisher & developers, so unless all those games are 1st party developed & published, it didn't help Microsoft profit. They need retail sales to decide to continue supporting specific hardware. If you didn't buy it when it counted, i don't think you can be upset they stopped forcing it on the masses, who didn't want it forced on us.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (December 11th)

twztid13

@Vortexeo man i wish this was ported to switch. I still have my digital version & vita, but it's in the closet somewhere & that screen is way too small as i get older & my eyes get worse. The switch screen is definitely better, but the fact i can play it in the tv when i need to is a huge plus. I only got about half way through the game, sadly (so i didn't read most of your spoiler tagged portions), but definitely plan on finishing it eventually. Glad u enjoyed it. This may motivate me to get that vita out, i think.

Re: Nintendo Loses German Court Appeal Over Switch eShop Pre-Order Cancellations

twztid13

@Hikingguy the only reason they haven't went full digital is because of the retailers. If the console manufacturers strip this ability to get people in the retailers' storefronts (whether B&M or digital), & occasional profit, the retailers will refuse to sell & advertise the consoles needed to run these games. That's also why they don't make the digital copies cheaper (the retailers protest, or at least that's what's claimed. Possibly to make retailers look bad, because once all that exists are digital games, do we really think they would lower prices?).

Re: SteamWorld Dig Is Getting A Third-Person Co-Op Sequel "With A Twist"

twztid13

@aSmilingMan yeah, I don't think it would be for me either, but it goes in sale for like $3.50 or so often, so i almost snagged it just because, but all of the games I've bought on eShop for 80+% off have been duds that i haven't played more than 1 time when i first got it. Those steep sales kinda scare me away these days, cuz it makes me think there has to be something wrong with games that they sell that cheap, lol. There probably are good ones, just not in the genres i like, & since i can't see prices for games I've already bought (in the eShop on the console), I can't see how much of a discount games i like get, to judge accordingly. Oh well, i may give in 1 day, but not while I'm broke, since if i bought all those games on sale, it would add up to a game i know is good, probably.

Re: Doug Bowser Comments On The Battle Against Joy-Con Drift, Says Nintendo Are Making "Continuous Improvements"

twztid13

@Vacant3 exactly, i don't understand why they can't offer Nintendo 1st party aftermarket joycons with actual quality parts & charge extra for them. MANY of us would be all over that. Instead, we only have a single option, that will 100% eventually drift, the only unknown is how long it will take for each individual joycon. I wish we could at least get info on which ones took longest to drift, like with the original Xbox DVD drives (i think i remember a Samsung drive being the ones that u didn't have to worry about, but most other disc drives were faulty on original Xbox), or the Jasper version of xbox 360. That qay, we could at least hedge our bets & find the most reliable (if there is such a thing), since they're not willing to go the premium route, where they could pass the extra cost on to customers (if that's even truly the issue, like some say).

Re: Doug Bowser Comments On The Battle Against Joy-Con Drift, Says Nintendo Are Making "Continuous Improvements"

twztid13

He certainly can't admit it was a design flaw, else it would make them liable in the lawsuits.

I have experienced joy con drift, as have most people who bought a switch in the 1st couple of years after release, and many of us got screwed because we sold the half of the joy cons that still worked, & either smashed or disassembled the other trying to fix it, before Nintendo finally started offering free repairs. However, i was scared to buy 1st party joy cons after that, so I can't say if they're any better recently.

I hear even ps5 controllers have this drift because it's the hardware manufacturer that causes this issue. I don't understand how I've never had this issue on a single other system i have owned, if that's the case, though. I have owned all of the big 3 consoles every generation since they all 3 existed simultaneously except the Wii U. My Dreamcast, N64 & PS1 before the big 3 had analog sticks, & maybe more that I can't remember. I keep my electronics in pristine condition, & none of those ever had drift (except the controllers that were mistreated by friends after i gave them away, maybe). All of my controllers were bought new, so the people who try to justify this drift citing the way people treat their controllers doesn't apply in my case.

I have moved to 3rd party joycons, sadly, the 1st console generation i have ever used 3rd party controllers. I used to dread playing in handheld mode because of this, but i have found the kinoca c25 joycons, blue & red are pretty decent. I also have the hori split pad pro, but like the c25 better, because they are fully featured. I would actually like to get the zelda special edition joycons, but i just don't trust i will spend $80+ & not get screwed. I love my pro controller & thankfully i haven't had that issue there, because i heard many have. Mine was bought on the week breath of the wild released, i think that was launch week, but can't recall exactly without looking it up. I have always only had to use the controllers that came with every console i have owned. When a special edition controller came out many years later, sometimes i would trade the original controller towards that, like the halo reach controller with my 360, but all of those controllers were immaculate & i was pleased. I guess those days are gone permanently. 😥

Re: Feature: Metroid Dread Has Plenty Of Other M's DNA, And That's No Bad Thing

twztid13

@Einherjar i understand, i was in a bad mood when i posted last night, but i agree with everything you said, also. I even tweeted about the item music (same username as here on Twitter, but i also post political things, so anyone who checks it out, beware) early on. I couldn't believe the item music wasn't there for all the items, it just barely acknowledged it. I saw some in comments say the music was great, so i decided to use headphones & i couldn't disagree more. It was average at best (but even more disappointing because we had expectations from past games in the series). I included mercury steam & Nintendo on all my tweets, tho I'm not sure if they'd ever see them. I still wanted to complain directly, especially after all the heat David jaffe took for criticism of the design. I showed clips of me sitting in the water w the emmi going in circles around me & asked, how is this fun? Very frustrating, but also to see such glowing praise, it doesn't feel good when I see something so different than 99% of the reviewers. It makes me question things, tbh but i won't get into that here.

Re: Feature: Metroid Dread Has Plenty Of Other M's DNA, And That's No Bad Thing

twztid13

@Einherjar i doubt it would help, cuz i had 1 HP left on the last 2 that could stun u, because i had to sit there invisible while they ran around the room in circles while i was underwater or something. Worst design decision i have played through, personally. If i wouldn't have made the mistake of buying digital day 1, i wouldn't have tolerated that, honestly. That wasn't fun & i had no commitment to the series as a whole, i didn't play handheld games, so i missed fusion & whatever other 1 was there, so they had already screwed ppl like me. Oh well, indies will get my money from now on, at least i don't feel so burned when i buy them & they suck. Dread was a huge letdown for me. I know better now, at least.

Re: SteamWorld Dig Is Getting A Third-Person Co-Op Sequel "With A Twist"

twztid13

@aSmilingMan there's a game that seems to copy heist i keep seeing on sale on switch, i think it's "there will be blood", or something like that. Have you played this? I'm curious if it's worth getting. I see user reviews on metacritic, but not much else. They complained about the platforming segments it has, but the look of it seems similar besides those portions.
