If you've been patiently waiting for Doctor Who: The Edge of Reality to launch on Nintendo Switch, you'll be pleased to know that its release is finally just around the corner.
You might recall that the game, which stars none other than actual 'Doctors' Jodie Whittaker and David Tennant, was originally supposed to launch for Switch on 30th September. It was soon pushed back to 14th October (when it launched on other systems), before being delayed again to 28th October – which didn't happen either.
Now, developer Maze Theory promises that the game will arrive on the Switch eShop on 25th November and has offered to reduce the price of its Deluxe Edition as an apology:
"Doctor Who: The Edge of Reality will be available on the eShop from Thursday, 25th November 2021.
We would like to thank our fans for your patience as we worked on optimisations for this release by offering the Deluxe Edition at the same price as the Standard Edition at launch."
If you're interested in learning more ahead of its upcoming release, a gameplay trailer was shared by the team just last month. We also recently sat down for a chat with key figures from the two development studios involved in its production – make sure to check that out here.
Here's hoping that 25th November date sticks this time.
Thanks to WoomyNNYes for the tip!

Reality checked huh?
been waiting for this one for a while, looking forward to hoping in!
A flux in the development
The multiple delays do nothing to inspire confidence in the finished product.
I think the BBC bringing back Russell T Davies is as close an apology as we're likely to see for the current state of Doctor Who
@WeltraumDreamer @sleepinglion I completely agree. Actually, when I heard RTD was coming back, I first felt unbridled joy, followed quickly by the cynical realization that the BBC is pretty committed to their course of action for the show, and that even RTD is unlikely to change what needs to be changed as he won't get permission from the BBC to do so. So really, all he'll likely succeed in doing is tarnishing his amazing DW legacy, which will be unfortunate. I'd love to come back to my favorite show of all time, but if he doesn't retcon the "Timeless Child" arc, I won't be back, and I suspect I'm not the only one.
The game may turn out to be bad, but I wish more developers were like them. Apologizing and reducing prices should become the norm; it’s a proper response! Thank you!
@WeltraumDreamer I used to dislike Capaldi as well, but I rewatched his series a few times, and he's honestly one of my favourites now. Totally agree with you on the current run, though.
As game design goes, on other platforms it's gotten OK and below average reviews. But it's Doctor Who, and some fans like it. I'm fairly certain I am getting it.
I didn't like season 11 at all, even upon rewatch, but season 12 with Jodie's Doctor is one of my absolute favorites and I'm currently fully enraptured with Flux and have rewatched every episode at least three times. And hey, if you don't like what's going on, more power to you. My opinion doesn't invalidate yours
Just wanted to add some variety to the comments section. Because it has Jodie, I'm quite intrigued by this game, but would probably prefer to get it on another system, if at all
@Debo626 I'm with you. I ejected right around the time they rewrote series history. It had nothing to do with Jodie or any member of the cast, the writing is what's killed this once great show. Because of the way the series has been treated, I no longer get excited about gaming announcements involving The Doctor
@sleepinglion Jodie Whittaker was great on Broadchurch, coincidentally the last time Chibnall was able to write competently. There was no good story reason to change the Doctor's gender, and definitely no good reason to rewrite the show's lore. Bad writing and an overt topical agenda killed a long-running, formerly awesome franchise. Sad.
@Debo626
"No story reason to change the Doctor's gender."
Its been written into the lore for years that it could happen, before we even saw any female Time Lords. It would be weird if it didn't happen at some point.
@Debo626 Agreed, she was great on Broadchurch. It's why I was initially excited to see her in Doctor Who
@sleepinglion Same. Well, I was never excited for a lore-breaking bit of unnecessary sjw pandering, but I was thoroughly impressed with her acting in Broadchurch and gave her an honest chance because of it. Same with Chibs, as well as due to his prior DW work. But it was all a giant disappointment, which, again, ruined the show's very long, very established history and lore. Oh well. Thank goodness Red Dwarf hasn't jumped the sjw shark yet.
Hope this gets a review. I couldn't find anyone that played it when i saw it on Xbox store. Or a review.
@Debo626 When entertainment puts messaging first and entertainment/story/logical character choices second, we all lose. So much of current sci-fi isn't watchable and I'm hopeful it doesn't bleed into our video games
