I've heard all kinds of build up for this game. Are they THAT good? I'm not an anime or visual novel fan, so i probably wouldn't like it. I love JRPGs & many turn based strategy games, so i will look at reviews. It's just strange; Usually, when a game is delayed so often, ppl eventually forget about it & move on, but not w this game. Is it just cuz so many ppl like the anime, or are the games that good?
The original concept sounds like a great game, actually. I wonder if the 3rd storyline would show how eugenics ended up in current society (or if Margaret Sanger was 1 of the 3 bounty hunters or bosses 🤣)...?
@OrtadragoonX IIRC, it's because there wasn't anything else, & people were wondering why we needed a GC at all, if we had Xbox & playstation 2 already (like myself). Wind waker was the answer for me, but Metroid prime was another great addition.
@Wexter the problem used to be, this information was seemingly only available on websites that are for pirates. I didn't want to visit those sites. If a reputable site would give information for people who didn't want to break laws, pirate, etc, it would be really helpful. U never know if the people who tell u what is "legal" know what they're talking about, & it's not worth risking for many. A website like this giving info for people who want to do this legally would be really helpful, i think. I never knew how to rip the digital version, i didn't know u needed another program, i downloaded dolphin, then tried to use the disc via a DVD player, or rip using applications by Microsoft etc that came installed already, but nothing worked,,so i gave up (in 2014 or 2015, IIRC).
@GrailUK "It uses a custom version of the Dolphin Emulator to introduce the upgraded features."
It seems u need a PC & download dolphin emulator, or maybe just this download includes everything u need. Regardless, i couldn't figure out how to play games i owned on the emulator (rip them to digital format, or with a DVD player) back when wii was main console, so i gave up. I think u still have download the games on ROM websites, which i wasn't comfortable with
Now i don't have a PC, so i don't care, but it would be nice for them to give information. I think they're scared of getting sued, so they're very careful not to tell ppl how to play these things.
I still haven't been able to force my way to get all the way, through 1 of these. Got a bit into the 1st one 3 times, wii, 3ds, & now switch. Never had the urge to get even half way, but everyone keeps saying how good it is online, so i think, "it must get better, right?" Played through 1st quarter of part 2, got really bored with it, but i liked the way it looked. I planned to go back eventually, but that's getting less & less likely as my backlog continually grows. Oh well, this is good for those who enjoy it. I just prefer turn based rpgs & this didn't do it for me enough to put up with gameplay I don't enjoy. I hate having AI controlled characters in any game, but now they're forcing it in every game, so what can u do.
@Tendogamerxxx people have said this every generation a Nintendo console has existed, at least since the Nintendo 64. If Nintendo haven't cared about everyone that "needs" the console to be more powerful before now, what makes u think they'll care all of a sudden? They have said many times, they're about making new experiences, not the most high tech, future proof console. There are other systems for that, which they don't care to compete with. Buy a ps5 or series x, or PC, & u have the perfect companion console. The switch is just for exclusives & games I'd like to play in handheld or w touchscreen, etc. Works great, & i have no desire to spend another $500 so soon (a new system will not be $300 w the tech that ppl are expecting, FWIW).
@nessisonett ahh, ok, I didn't know what else was nominated. I think death's door should definitely have won that. I understand, but these big companies probably feel they are the ones that need the public recognition to put on their game boxes. I still liked Forza, but i was thinking u were saying it was crap, or something, & was wondering how u could think that. It's definitely more of the same (iterative greatness, lol?), & I agree that others should get the recognition, but we should know better than to expect that.
No one can deny the industry is biased. Look at metacritic for any multiplatform game, u will see 10x the number of reviews for ps5 vs xbox or switch. If that's the console all the media play...u do the math.
Not interested. Maybe I'd have tried it after i beat the game, but i already deleted it to make room for new demos & games. The game definitely didn't interest me enough to want to play the bosses over & over, but it may have been better than having to do the EMMI zones.
@NintendoByNature same for me. I actually never played it before, but i loathe retro games' graphics. I love turn based rpgs, so I'm hoping that will override the retro aspect for me, especially if it's as good as everyone i know has told me it was (the PlayStation version).
@NintendoByNature 81 metacritic w 13 reviews, FWIW.
Edit: Sorry, i see others have pointed out similar things. When an article has this many comments, i stop scrolling after a few, because no way I'm reading all of them, lol.
@JasmineDragon i do the same thing. This is the first I've known of anyone else doing this. I wish i could force myself to avoid all side quests & play only main story, but my OCD always makes me want to do everything. I will then get halfway & have lost the excitement, so when something else comes out that gets me excited, i move on & put the game on "hold". I always intended to come back to the game i leave behind, but I've stopped kidding myself at this point...🤣
Darn, i wish this had more compelling game play. I hate visual novels, but love everything else vanillaware made. I guess I'll be skipping this, as i don't care for RTS, either. 😥
Not a fan of the graphics. It's hard to get both good graphics & gameplay in an indie game, tho. I personally hate the "retro" style, but it's cheaper, so that's what we're stuck with. I hope I'm alive to see a generation where indies can be affordable to make without having to use this style of graphics. I realize there's a market for it, but there's also a market for better looking games, & the indie devs can only provide good art direction, at best, when wanting to make a big, ambitious game. They can't afford to invest much in the graphics until their 2nd installment, it seems. Hopefully, one day that will change. I also hope zelda-likes aren't extinct by then, cuz those are my favorites, but i cannot get immersed in games that i don't like the look of.
Wow, looks good, but if pQube is the publisher, it will be horrible. It's like they search out bad games to publish. Maybe if it gets a 90% off sale, I may try it. But i know I'll be disappointed, like w all their games.
You got me w that. I wouldn't have clicked if i had known it was kit, who has a podcast to tell us his thoughts, I don't need to read them here. I thought it was some inside source, or someone who actually helped develop or publish games...🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️
@-Juice- to be fair, visual novels are considered games, & don't have challenge. It's not something i would play, but i played Kirby's epic yarn & it was fun, even tho it's easy. I like seeing their creativity. I wouldn't pay $60 for a game like that, but worth a rental sometimes, for me.
@somebread well, i see it's in the news tab on switch, too, where it talks about the update, so that's a fair assumption. I didn't know that when i typed that, but i was just trying to say u could be a little nicer about it, & u could probably bring ppl around to seeing the issue like u do.
@somebread yes, cuz everyone knows u can do that...🙄 It couldn't possibly be more combative to disparage people instead of giving them helpful information.
Meh, not that useful for me, if u can't use on the home screen. The home screen doesn't seem well thought out, at all, at least for players who play many games.
@Wexter cyberpunk was insanely profitable for them. What makes you think Witcher 4 won't be too ambitious for the hardware they're targeting? I won't believe they learned a lesson until i see it.
I am LOVING this game right now. It would definitely be better to play in handheld, but i would have to wait forever (if it were even coming to switch). It takes a bit to get good, like many games, but after the 1st big boss, i was hooked. I really hope switch only players get to experience this game, especially fans of the original Zelda (as it's a game without any handholding).
@Octane_st1m ouch, thanks. So, u have to pay almost 50% more if u don't give them money ahead of time (which I will definitely not do on a product like this). I understand that it's an incentive to get more backers, but I'm just not comfortable with that, considering I'm lower middle class in the US. I guess i will just wait & see how they're received & read some reviews, but i think that extra $79 puts me off enough to not buy it,, because it would only be for that 1 feature,, which i could live without. Thanks for taking the time to reply with the price, much appreciated.
@MostHandsieBoy idk, ppl working retail jobs get to take home products the stores sell sometimes. I think it's akin to that, but it definitely could be seen as a bribe of sorts.
