I think a really good hybrid way to inject a traditional Zelda feel into an open world like BotW would be to at least have a few key items discovered throughout the game (preferably in dungeons) as the story progressed, which allow you to access previously inaccessible parts of the world - I think BotW is just lacking that part of the magic, but otherwise is excellent of course.

@Damo Nice one, I don't agree with the others thinking there needs to be a picture of him. The original complaint I was referencing was @Cosats: "Nintendo Life, You don't announce the death of a man putting on the cover place the picture of another man."

@Damo I think it's more that the lead image is a picture of a different man. You could argue it's disrespectful to do so, or that on a first take, you could be mistaken for thinking that Miyamoto passed away.

Yep, I think you're absolutely right that this is what he intended to write. However, even if it was, the first line still doesn't make sense. Why would a few titles early on in the Switch's lifespan be an exception to their non-continued investment?

They need to scrap it and start again.

I like powering mine off completely, as well as closing games, so that any memory leaks that may have built up will be cleared next time I play.

@SLIGEACH_EIRE yes but you saying that the switch is gaining a reputation as being a port console isn't fair because it's a trend with all current consoles

@rjejr can't tell you for Nintendo's own stream. But if you are watching it on YouTube, Google will be the ones worrying about how the content is distributed live globally, and they are the masters of it. Makes no difference that the source is Japan. As long as they have enough bandwidth to provide YouTube the video (they will), then all is fine.

Also, the joy-cons don't just have hidden shoulder buttons, but rather it looks like there is an extension to the joy-con with shoulder buttons (notice the curved edge, darker plastic - just compare the two stills of the videos in this article!)

@MADGAZ @Blester Where have you read that it /only/ does tv-out and charging? I think a lot of people are thinking that it also enables 4k streaming and perhaps other things.

I'm still not ruling out the possibility that the dock gives supplemental power - seeing as they didn't mention the inclusion of this in what may be the base SKU.

My theory:

Nintendo planned to officially announce the NX in August or September, but something big happened; Pokemon Go - which was a huge and unexpected success.

Because of this, they want to capitalise on the marketing potential by either adding functionality to the NX that was not planned before, like GPS, that will allow an ultimate version of Pokemon Go to run on the new system (perhaps battling will become exclusive to it). Or, they have changed the name to Nintendo Go - which has required last minute changes to branding and pushed back the reveal date and possibly manufacture date.

In any case, it is either not being shown in Paris because they plan to reveal it at a later date, or either it or its launch games are not ready to be demoed yet.

They probably didn't want them to publish the off the cuff bit where he says "before we begin", because you know... the interview hadn't begun yet.

"Nintendo Go"

It's had a magic mix of ingredients to make it a raging success. It's very easy to say that nintendo should have focused on mobile years ago, but the timing wouldn't have been right years ago. No-one predicted this, and it will be very hard for any developer to replicate this kind of success in the future.

I would LOVE it if the NX used cartridges. Quicker loading times, less moving parts to fail, smaller and QUIETER console. Also wouldn't mind it being big for nostalgia reasons, so I can see my gold zelda cartridge in it while playing

@Damo I think in this case you're entitled to react to this in the way you have. Because, come on, it looks absolutely awful! I was surprised by the amount of non-negative comments about it. Having said that, I think you should leave the argumentative comments to the readers - you already know you're right.

I hope they improve the FPS for the hub world. It's always jarring when going back to it from a match.

@Einherjar Thanks. I understood the concept, I just didn't realise that the individual calculations were still referred to as 'frames', as I thought a frame was an individual rendered image.

I was just wondering why it was called 'frames' per second, rather than samples or whatever else you may call it. Hopefully the NEO in the FAST title means that it's a proper new game, I'm really looking forward to it.
