Airship Syndicate and THQ Nordic have just released a new trailer for the upcoming Darksiders Genesis which shows off the game's innovative new "Creature Core" system.
This feature allows players to upgrade their character's battle skills by collecting the titular cores after killing enemies and end-of-level bosses. These skills range from increased power to monster allies which appear during combat; you can also use them to trigger boons such as health and ammo drops from fallen foes. Cores can also be purchased at an in-game store in exchange for souls. The intention of the Creature Core system is to allow you, the player, to tailor the game's two lead characters – WAR and STRIFE – to your own playstyle.
Darksiders Genesis launches on PC and Google Stadia on December 5th, 2019, with the console editions – including Switch – coming next year, on Valentine’s Day.

Man, I just feel like my hype for this game keeps getting crazier and crazier every freakin' day, man. That Valentine's Day wait is no bueno.
Oh that does look great! Will be a nice Valentines present for myself
Nobody loves me. I will just get this next month
Just hoping it redeems the franchise and is better than the last game.
Is it just me or does this look more Diablo?
@suikoden it looks like a Diablo game a bit due to the top-down camera but plays like a Darksiders. They addressed that in some interviews.
It's looking sooo good!
This one is looking pretty good so far.
Interested to see how it turns out.
Nice audio for the weapon discharges.
Yes, I need this one. Looks fantastic.
Will I have had to play the second and third games though? I only liked the first one.
There was a third one right?
Glad they're taking a new spin on the franchise. This looks really good so far.
@Kalmaro There was a third one, though sometimes it's easy to forget that. Haven't seen if it's any good.
I would play a full fledged ARPG set in this universe.
Looks great, but also looks completely hijacked.

Hello, thank you for calling Blizzard, how can I help you? Hello, we made a franchise called Darksiders and just wanted to ask if it’s okay that we make our new game from your guys blueprint, don’t worry we’re not going to take the name. It’s very different. It’s called Diablosiders. Cool? Sweet, thanks!
In all seriousness I’m a huge Diablo & Darksiders fan, so I’m super stoked for this.
@GhostGenAgain I'll be sure to rub it in in December
@Kalmaro the story hasnt moved on since the first one. The second and third games run parallel to it.
@PhilKenSebben Fart face.
@PhilKenSebben Alright, so I could skip them and still kinda get it?
I played the second and the controls felt so different from the first that I couldn't get into it.
@Kalmaro - Kinda? Basically the first Illida- I mean, War is basically framed and incarcerated for hundreds of years. And starts after that. 2 and 3 essentially running the story of while War is in eternal damnation essentially.
3 Ain't too bad, but 2 is the best for far.
@Paraka I may have to give it another shoot, especially now that I have a better PC.
@Chlocean you right about that. I completely forgot about the third one until it was free on ps plus.
@Kalmaro yeah. What @Paraka said. 3 is pretty decent if you like the combat changes. They made some what Dark Soulsish. 1 is a decent grimdark Zelda like. 2 was the best so far.
@GhostGenAgain That's Mr. Fartface to you sir.
