Re: Hands On: Legend Of Zelda: Breath Of The Wild VR Made Us Want To Puke

sr_388

@frogopus @DartBuzzer Yeah I have PSVR and I enjoy plenty on it. I am a little more prone to VR sickness but I can play certain games. And like I said BotW is surprisingly playable for me.
I was merely arguing against calling it a failure simply because the game made the author sick. That's simply what happens to some people, especially if they're not used to VR.

Re: Video: How Do NES Games On Switch Compare To The NES Mini, Virtual Console And More?

sr_388

@jobvd I guess but it's basically the same. And I can just imagine explaining to non gamers: "The B button is the A button and the Y button is the B button." and there would be mass confusion lol.

Anyway, I just mentioned it as I've seen a number of people talk about how uncomfortable it is to play Mario because they were using the B button to run, which would be an awkward way to play.

Re: Feature: Xenoblade Chronicles 2 Team Talk Torna, Female Blades And The Ending That Never Made It

sr_388

That's funny, the original ending idea he described was actually what I was expecting, but while I typically like more subtlety, I actually am okay with the way they went with it.

The game is great, one of my top games ever and Torna has been great so far (over 20 hours in). In some ways I almost like Torna more as it doesn't feel so overwhelming and it doesn't have random blades.

Re: Soapbox: We Like To Grumble, But Nintendo Switch Online Is Actually A Very Generous Offer

sr_388

@NakamaRise That’s the thing though, people didn’t buy the 3ds and so they lowered the price and pushed some great games and it became a great system. Complaining doesn’t do anything but bring negativity which just invited more negativity. Whatever you feed is what will survive.

If you don’t like it, don’t purchase it and that will communicate more effectively without all the constant negativity. I’ve found myself staying away from these sites more and more just because all the negativity really gets to me after a while. This is a hobby after all; I’d rather have fun with things I enjoy than complain about things I don’t.

Re: Review: Cosmic Star Heroine (Switch eShop)

sr_388

Heard a lot of good things about this. The review seems pretty positive and doesn’t really read like a 7 but maybe that’s just me. Definitely will get this, though I still have so many others to work through first.

Re: Sushi Striker: The Way of Sushido Has Shockingly Poor Launch In Japan

sr_388

That’s a shame. It’s actually a really good game. I believe most of the people saying it should be $20 haven’t actually played the full game. It’s very similar to Theatrhythm (same developer) in that its a simple concept but put in a great package and a lot of content. I guess Theatrhythm was okay at full price because of the Final Fantasy name.

Re: Out Today: L.A. Noire and Rocket League Lead the Way in Fresh Switch eShop Releases

sr_388

Played a bit of Rocket League last night. Just as fun as I remembered it. One match had some stuttering, but I think that was an internet issue. Even playing handheld, it performed great. So excited to play this again.

Also, looking forward to Ittle Dew 2+, though I'm not sure if I'll get physical or digital.

If the week wasn't so jam packed, I might have considered LA Noire.

Re: Review: RiME (Switch)

sr_388

I really have been anxious to play this, but after reading all the performance problems the PC port had, I figured this would end up poor as well. Every time the devs would talk about the game, they would complain and it seemed like ultimately their optimization was just really poor. That's a shame as I hear really good things about the game otherwise.

Re: Talking Point: Nintendo Has Embraced DLC, But Must Resist The Worst Industry Norms

sr_388

I think the way Nintendo has handled season passes has been good. They don't start working on them till the game is done, so it's not cut content, it's additional content.

One thing that is funny is that people judge a season pass before the content is released, which is really odd since there's no way to know whether it will be worth it or not. It's just a way to know that there is even more coming so if you want more, you can buy more. You can also wait until it actually releases before buying it so again... I don't really understand the rush to judge it.

Also, price has very little to do with length of content. Price is determined by how much time, money and man hours went into making something.

But most importantly... less than three weeks to Xenoblade!

Re: Xenoblade Chronicles 2 Gets Expansion Pass and Surprise Breath of the Wild Crossover

sr_388

Well I'm glad Link doesn't get the Pyra outfit lol

Not sure why people are so upset over the DLC. It seems like more content than the BotW pass and it's pretty common practice nowadays to announce DLC before the game comes out. It lets people know that even after they finish the game they can enjoy even more if they want. (Kinda funny how people were upset when Mass Effect Andromeda cut their DLC plans).

And at least Nintendo is good about paid DLC being made AFTER the game is finished, so those who don't get it aren't missing anything from the main game.

Re: Video: 11 Reviews for Super Mario Odyssey that Are So Bad They're Good

sr_388

As some have stated, definitely finish the game before you make a final opinion. The first few kingdoms, I was a little underwhelmed but the more I play it, the more I enjoy it. And the post game content really is awesome.

It’s funny that people complain about difficulty in a mario game. They haven’t been difficult since Sunshine. They always are really easy and then the very final (post game) level is suddenly ridiculously hard. Lol.

Re: Review: Putty Pals (Switch eShop)

sr_388

"While colorful and filled with happiness-inducing sound effects, the worlds are bereft of the type of details and life that make other games feel like a genuine place."

Funny as I read this on a Steam User review yesterday:
"One of the best things I can say about this game that so many other platformers fail to accomplish is it feels like you're actually in a living, breathing, world."

I'm not arguing this review, just made me laugh at the difference in people's perspective.

Re: Feature: Japanese Dev Legend Tak Fujii On His Switch Music Exclusive Gal Metal

sr_388

"Additionally, people don't like to play unknown songs so I picked famous classical pieces from the past 400 years, which are no doubt recognised as 'great pieces of music'."

Also, public domain lol.

But I will actually keep my eye on this. Seems like it could be cool, if the joy con can actually work. Given that he is a musician first, I would imagine getting the feeling of playing right would be a priority.

Re: Nintendo Publishes New Interview on the Making of Super Metroid

sr_388

@Lost_Hope Nice to see another person who actually enjoyed Other M.

@OuterTsuchinoko It’s not a perfect game but it’s very fun and while very melodramatic, the story isn’t that bad. Don’t let other people’s negativity stop you from trying it. Other M is just one of those games people jumped on and made a big deal out of its flaws.

Anyway... yes, Super Metroid is one of the greatest games ever made and one of the best examples of good game design.

Re: Review: Piczle Lines DX (Switch eShop)

sr_388

@Nincompoop lol Yes, I have played it.

From the review you posted:

"Swiping a block will extend it in a direction of your choice along the grid.. A number in each block tells you how many spaces a line from it should extend, so you have the blueprint and materials all right in front of you.

The catch, however, is that you can’t directly control the length of a line; it will keep shooting outward in a direction until it hits another block."

The lines only go straight and have to be a specific length. This game just requires a specific length. Or is it because I said draw instead of extend?

Re: Review: Piczle Lines DX (Switch eShop)

sr_388

@Nincompoop It's similar, but not the same. Tappingo has you drawing straight lines. This has you drawing lines in any shape. It's a small change but the way you go about solving it is very different.

I think it's a good puzzle game. The puzzles are not overly challenging but they are satisfying. As mentioned the music gets very grating and there is a lack of polish in the menus but the game itself is solid.

Re: Review: RPG Maker Fes (3DS)

sr_388

@zipmon thanks for the quick reply! That's a shame. I don't mind preset art (I'm not an artist), but I would have loved to put my own music in the game.

Re: Review: RPG Maker Fes (3DS)

sr_388

Can anyone say how music works in this game? Does it just have some preset tunes you choose from or is there some way to add music like a music editor or something? That would make a big difference to me.
