@Wexter Oh wow, anime characters with goofy plush-looking sidekick characters exploring themes of existentialism and religion in a hokey manner.
Sounds too me like tonal inconsistency or just plain clashing of aesthetics.
If I want my RPGs too be taken seriously, then I'll just go ahead and play the Witcher games since they do a better job at conveying a serious narrative while dealing with heavy themes.
@Olliemar28 So, you'd rather Super Sonic always be relegated to a final boss encounter instead of the developers do something different for a change?
I'm sure the wow factor of seeing Super Sonic is kind of gone now, so it's better to be able to use him if we find all the emeralds, hopefully that doesn't deter from any of the game's challenges, though.
This new direction they're taking Sonic in seems interesting and I'm interested to know how the story unfolds.
@Wexter Nah, that's just me coming up with something describing some of Nintendo older IPs that deserve some love and attention compared to the plethora of generic JRPS that constantly see release. Same old, same old, story of a group of friends that happen to meet along a journey to fight an almighty god in the end and learn the value of friendship.
I hope there's a Steam release at some point. Looking at videos of people playing as Kermit the frog has me more interested than just the base game on consoles.
On another note, looking at who's releasing this physical edition, it makes me glad that Limited Run Games didn't get their grubby hands on the rights to release a physical special edition of this since I've been hearing nothing but negative things about how they handle collectors editions releases.
@ModdedInkling Well, Skyward Sword was the most recent title compared to those that may have not too deep stories. And using "Sky" in the title would sound a bit generic now since I'm pretty sure the title hints at the main theme of the game, probably lore-wise and also related to how you travel between worlds.
@Jimmy_G_Buckets You make it sound like there's a shortage of those types of games. Well, since this is a NIntendo console and a bit underpowered, that's a bit expected.
And by the way, the only one who has an issue with me appears too be you. I'm not bragging about owning a Steam Deck, I just wish more people didn't support this.
@Jprhino84 How am I being obnoxious when I'm saying that supporting these types of practices by companies is why we get the bare-minimum when we've could've gotten better.
It's when we don't object to these sorts of decisions by companies they will try to find a way to take more out of the consumer.
It's why I don't like Online Expansion. Because we don't get better quality games and keep them. We're only renting them for a set period of time.
If Cloud gaming takes off in the future, you bet your bottom dollar that we're not going to own anything anymore.
Guess the word "Sky" was already taken from their previous game, Skyward Sword, so this is probably the only other name to be given not to cause confusion.
Oh well, I have a Steam Deck so I'm going to do something that these companies really dislike and that's emulating games because they won't provide any better alternatives.
At the very least, this would be the only collection that would acknowledge the existence of the other acclaimed version of TMNT aside from the already nostalgia-milked 80s cartoon.
@Olliemar28 We never know, it's a Japanese business thing and I remember recently how Sonic creator Yuji Naka edited out Naoto Ohshima out of a photo of them in the Balan Wonderworld team for undisclosed reasons as too why and it really makes me question the attitudes business partners have over there and what's considered "normal" compared to here. Because it should be apparently obvious how different business culture is over there.
@Edu23XWiiU Neither MGSV nor Guns of the Patriots will ever be re-released on modern consoles because of how the online component of MGSV, that being the F.O.B. missions and Metal Gear Online multiplayer, is directly tied to story/gameplay progression in some ways and I doubt they will carry that over to modern consoles because that would also mean they would have to create new servers for already mentioned online components.
MGS4 being a PS3 exclusive would be very difficult to port over due to the architecture of the PS3 being really complicated, which wouldn't be worth it for them to spend that much time or money trying to port that game in the first place.
I've really been hoping for an MGS collection on Switch after I saw Snake return for Smash Ultimate and it would be a crying shame if there were no MGS games to accompany him being on a console where he came back for a crossover game.
That being said, however, I'm kind of concerned if these remastered releases if they'll edit out Hideo Kojima's name out of the credits, because we know about Konami's long-standing grudge with him after he left.
@greengecko007 No, I don't typically like seeing "masculine-looking women", but it's obvious to see girl-ish looking men with long hair and makeup that typically appear in Asian media. It's not something I see in other parts of media in the world, it's mostly exclusive to Asian media meanwhile if something like that were shown here it would be mistaken for being gay, which ironically most of the time it isn't since Japan thinks muscular guys with beards is gay but men with a soft face complexion and wearing cosmetics is hetero. Again, this is only an Eastern thing more so than a Western thing.
It's just something that people who don't consume Japanese media would notice. And I don't want to come across as racist or whatever, but I'm just pointing something out for anyone who might be out of the loop. That's it.
And when I mentioned, "girls with absurdly curvy figures and huge busts."
I was talking about anime and anything related to it. And I can't exactly tell where a good chunk of Western mainstream media has it since there's there's been actual pushback against it with feminism and such.
@JayJ When you support mediocrity, that's sending a message to companies that you're perfectly content with them not putting any effort to make something good, especially when it's from a well-established franchise.
You are what you consume. And if people want slop, that's they're getting.
I always find it funny whenever people use language like "shaming" to describe people that don't like something and expressing it as if being critical of something poorly made is some sort of offense.
@Magician I really hope Embracer Group commissions Night Dive studios to remaster those old games for modern consoles.
I especially want them to work on Soul Reaver and convert the Dreamcast version for the remaster and include some additional difficulties like with most of their newer remastered titles.
But I especially want them to remaster the old Thief games, that would be a dream come true.
@greengecko007 Yeah, I dunno. A game where you play as a petite android girl that's young wearing a sexy maid outfit using a katana and being accompanied by some cute robot friends and also an androgynous boy (1B) that appears far younger than her while also coming across other similar androgynous male characters really makes it obvious this was made for a Japanese audience in mind and just distinctly makes it obvious where it was made from, Japan.
It's very rare for Japanese developers to make something with a wide appeal like towards Westerners with games like the Souls series, Metal Gear Solid, and I guess Resident Evil. I'm more speaking along the lines of aesthetics and not including stuff that typically appears in anime like cute little girls, toy-like-looking animals or monsters, and I guess really androgynous skinny male characters.
There are probably some more specific examples that I could mention, but since I don't watch anime I can't exactly remember too many off the top of my head.
Oh yeah, girls with absurdly curvy figures and huge busts.
@greengecko007 Ugh, if there's one thing that irks me it's how Japan in their media handles heavy topics with also having around weird cute robots and little girls, both clashing aesthetically and sort of making it difficult to take seriously when presented together. It seems too be a trope of theirs in anime. I noticed similar topics be brought up in stuff like Evangelion, and I don't think it handled it well, in fact it was almost cringe-inducing.
Since Japan doesn't practice Christianity or any other religions or even understands them culturally, they probably shouldn't be discussing them in their media because the way it's presented it's hard to take seriously. Not to mention, they do produce a bunch of degenerate stuff in their media, so I don't think think they have the right to criticize other religions when they make the type of stuff they make.
First time I'm seeing this game after hearing nothing but praise from fans and weebs.
Can anybody answer my question of how weird is the story and premise of this game?
Because I get that it's the post-apocalypse in the future and you're a robot swordswoman dressed up in a French maid outfit going out to destroy other robots. That setup alone is pretty out there and I imagine it gets more ridiculous.
@NatiaAdamo This is a serious real world topic about harassment allegations that may or may not be true and you're bringing up a fictional character in a whimsical fantasy game that doesn't exist all while making some sort of comparison that makes no sense because said fictional character doesn't exist.

I still don't get why this game should be made when there are dozens of similar games on Steam or elsewhere that can be sold without this type of mainstream backlash.
Heck, why not just read hentai books instead of this. It honestly, shouldn't exist because of how cringey it is. And everybody is fully aware that only that only social outcasts as well as guys who have never been with a woman buy this type of stuff.

Re: 'The Legend Of Zelda: Tears Of The Kingdom' Launches In May 2023
@ModdedInkling Honestly, "A Tear between Worlds" sounds way better than what we got for "Tears of the Kingdom" as the final name for the title.
You should be hired to come up with better names for games than Nintendo does

@Friendly I was expecting an Arkham collection with the Unreal 4 engine graphics... Sadly we might not know if it's happening.
No Zelda ports is also disappointing. and the lack of anything outside of typical jrpgs is underwhelming to say the least.

And I doubt Konami kept the source code for that game, so that really brings down the chances of that game getting ported.
