Spike Chunsoft has revealed Master Detective Archives: Rain Code, a noir-adventure game set to release on the Switch in Spring 2023.
From the creators of the Danganronpa series, the game certainly displays a similar visual style to the iconic RPG series, with gameplay that actually reminds us of Atlus' Persona franchise.
Here's some info directly from Spike Chunsoft:
Yuma, an amnesiac detective-in-training, and Shinigami, the spirit haunting him, tackle unsolved mysteries in a strange city caged by unending rain.
A city of rain is gripped by innumerable unsolved mysteries, under the complete control of a megacorporation. Master Detectives from around the world, each possessing unique powers, must rise to the challenge of uncovering the truth. With Shinigami by his side, Yuma joins the investigation as a trainee of the detective agency. Travel freely within the fully 3D environment of the city to gather evidence and testimonies.
As the investigation progresses, a realm known as the Mystery Labyrinth will appear, creating a path toward the truth. Once inside, however, the mysteries shrouding the case materialize as gimmicks and traps, lying in wait to consume Yuma. The rules of reality don't apply here: delve into the ever-changing Mystery Labyrinth and get to the heart of the case.
But that's not all! Monstrous Mystery Phantoms will do whatever it takes to prevent Yuma from reaching the truth. Dodge their barrage of lies and slash the contradictions to pieces with the Solution Blade!

Really, really hoping this'll be good. Kind of gotten the impression Kodaka's kind of a one trick pony - even the attempts to step outside of the killing game format within Danganronpa itself really don't work at all - so not terribly optimistic for it but really hope it sticks the landing.
looks interesting. I'll keep my eye on this one.
That being said, it said FIRST on Nintendo Switch.
So its a timed exclusive for Switch then
More cute deathmurder? Sold.
It's looking really sweet. I'm keen.
This was one of the few highlights for me. Been waiting on more news on Enigma Archives (pretty sure it was the original name). I love me a good mystery, detective adventure game.
Anyone else think the art style looks like danganronpa or just me?
Also will kyoko be in it?
Edit: looking closer I realized that the main character has a ahoge.
So if he says “no that’s wrong” can we qualify him as a official danganronpa protagonist?
Hyped for this one! The storytelling in Danganronpa is interesting and entertaining, so I have high hopes for this game.
Absolutely excited for this one! It's a shame the Danganropa series is finished though because I miss that franchise so much.
I love Danganronpa. Since this has ghe same writer and the same character designer I'm very excited.
I want none of this Dang Old Rompa
Very cool and unexpected , gonna definitely check it out.
the danganronpa guy can really only draw like 3 faces, huh
Definitely getting this, really enjoyed Danganronpa and this looks even crazier somehow.
I'm hope that the game will get better localisation(translation) work than Danganronpa series... Danganronpa's localisation sucks. Not bad, but... I can't say that it's good. There is quite a lot of stupid changes from the original Japanese script.
I have high hopes. Hopefully the plot is as off the rails as Danganronpa.
Looked like Death Note: Rain Edition to me... which is cool! Love the cel-shading and art style. Seems like a game I'd watch a review or stream of, but not necessarily get into to play myself.
... Wun can only hope.
This was about it for me from the direct this looks bonkersly good
Well obviously I'm gonna need to buy this.
As a friend of mine said during the direct, "finally, I felt there was a serious lack of children killing each other"
Not fully sold, but it definitely looks promising. Won't be going in comparing it to Danganronpa, though, as that'll likely be a quick road to Disappointmentville.
Is it weird to say this was the biggest surprise for me? There was little shock value in this Direct, and this felt like the only out of left field announcement.
This was my favourite trailer in the Direct. Looks bonkers, and totally unlike anything else we’re getting for Switch. No idea if they’ll stick the landing, but this is certainly different. Can’t wait to slash some contradictions with a sword!
When he was looking in the mirror and crying out in horror, I thought he was reacting to his cowlick.
@Ralizah Go in comparing it to World's End Club, it'll probably be at least like an 8/10 in that case.
@Greatluigi That was the first thing I thought when I saw the art during the Direct.
