Re: Poll: Where Do You Stand On DeNA, Smart Device Games, Nintendo 'Membership' And The Nintendo NX?

@kobashi100
Except he won't find the "premium" experience he'll find in a dedicated Nintendo console. He'll find out later that his favorite Mario platformer or Pokemon RPG are only on the Nintendo hardware.

Ragarding the gamepad, you can always buy a pro controller if you don't like it. But most of us like it. It's convenient to use for browsing the web, eShop, map, inventory, etc. I like the gyro controls too over the R Stick for FPS aiming. Nintendo would be stupid not to include one on the Wii U. If a developer would utilize the gamepad, he's 100 sure every Wii U console has one so no risk of losing a possible buyer if he wish to utilize the gamepad features. One big mistake of Nintendo is not including a high capacity storage. Common users aren't inclined to buy an external hard disk. Let alone a Y cable to complicate things.

That's why Nintendo would never go full 3rd-party (as long as they have plenty of money/resources). They design their games on their hardware and vice versa. They aren't limited to what their hardware has to offer because they could modify the OS or the hardware as they see fit.

The Wii U isn't doing well not because of the gamepad. I think it's primarily because it isn't graphically superior by a huge margin against the X360 and PS3 when it was released so no point to jump or upgrade. Not to mention the Wii U naming which is confusing. And thirdly the architecture is different making it difficult to port games. The wii u succesor should be graphically superior by a huge margin than the PS4 and XOne, it should be easy to develop games, a sizeable hard drive and a good name if they want to win 3rd parties back.

I was super excited when I saw the new rewards. Then I found out I already most of the Wii U offerings. Also there are different pricing even for games on the same VC category. GBA mostly. I'll probably pick some 3DS VCs but:

Will they add more physical rewards? I want Game & Watch back. Maybe SNES Classic Controller or gold nunchuk.

@Yorumi
You prefer Nintendo go full 3rd party? LOL no. They specifically said they will make hardware that'll complement their vision on softwares. By going full 3rd party, they'll be stucked to whatever mobile or PS4 has to offer limiting their abilities to incorporate gameplay and controls in their games. Going with mobile alone limits them to just touch-controlled games.

I'm gonna watch this with my kid (if it's for kids and up) because it features one or two of my favorite videogame characters regardless of the reviews. Movie reviews suck anyway because they rate movies if it's an Oscar-worthy or not regardless if it's fun or fulfilling. Plus I'm not jumping on the Sandler hate bandwagon like most of the internet do. ('can't view the video for some reason).

@Quorthon
I don't think they can fix the problem with 3rd parties on the Wii U and 3dS. Generation-behind consoles compared to the PS4/X1, different architecture, inferior account system, etc. If they could fix anything, it'll be with the NX. They just implemented an account system with the NNID on the Wii U. I didn't expect Nintendo to get it right the first time. As I said before they're testing and learning. That's why I'm confident going digital with my Wii U games. I expect (hope) it'll carry over on the next system (at least in VC form).

@rjejr
Nintendo of Korea will have a Direct on the 19th. Quick-scanning their previous Directs, they are mostly the same dates as Europe's and US Directs. I hope we get one on Thursday since it's my day-off.

Anyway on the resolution issue, they could do two settings/resolution for every games they make. Handheld resolution/settings and home console resolution/settings. It's like low/medium/high settings on PC.

Also F-Zero NX confirmed as a sequel to F-Zero GX. (I'm kidding)

Re: Nintendo Working On New 'Dedicated Game Platform' Codenamed 'NX'

@Josaku
I could be wrong but I was thinking there'll be some sort of dock that'll make the handheld more powerful where you could also connect multiple cotrollers and addons. Hence my comment. I see now that it could also be two separate consoles but with the same OS like Android/iOS phones and tablets. Sorry for the confusion.

@drkdtvngr @chewytapeworm @RainbowGazelle
If you happen to live in France or Spain, their respective Amazons are selling them (boxed with download code) for 15 or 16€). You might want to buy there or wait for your local retail to have them on discount soon.

Re: Talking Point: It's Time for a Nintendo Direct to Set the Agenda

outburst

Seriously Nintendo, give me Yoshi's Wooly World, MK8 DLC, Mario Maker and Splatoon for the Wii U all before E3. I don't give a suck on Kirby Rainbow. Give us codename STEAM next month and not the Wii U-filled May.

As for announcements:

-new/remaster Metroid on the 3DS
-Metroid U
-Metroid 3DS XL
-SNES and GBA VC crossbuy on the New 3DS
-GB and GBC crossbuy on the Wii U
-DS VC crossbuy on both Wii U and New3DS
-remasters of a number of N64 and GC games on either the Wii U and 3DS. Forget N64 and GC VCs.
-new club Nintendo
-new Gamepad for the Wii U.

"We didn't want to start 2015 with announcement of delays so our second direct will focus on announcing the delays. Yoshi's WW is delayed that's why you didn't see it last time. Splatoon is delayed on last week of June for Europe. Mario Maker is delayed as well. Amiibos are delayed but it's not a bad thing:

New club Nintendo is delayed until next gen. Mewtwo DLC is delayed. "

Re: The Nintendo 3DS Was North America's Best-Selling Hardware Platform In February

outburst

@Quorthon
They are re-introducing the franchise to newer audiences and old ones alike. Its not that we're not getting new games but remasters are "easier" to make needing only little resources and/or with little help from outside developers. They also act as fillers since we're lacking games compared to other consoles. Yeah, you already knew that of course. Nintendo screwed up with the Wii U. I hope they'll make it right on the next gen.

@ULTRA-64
I'm with you. I prefer them on the big screen as well. I'm a first time 3DS owner with the N3DS and I'm underwhelmed playing Luigi's Mansion 2, 3DLand, Smash3DS, etc. I prefer them on the Wii U even with NES/SNES/GBA VC games. The only ones I would probably enjoy on the handheld are turn-based games or puzzle games (not puzzle platformers) like Fire Emblem, Codename STEAM, Pokemon-like games (since I'm not into Pokemon), Animal Crossing, etc.
