@Luceus that is how I bought mine. Pulled up via zip code and told me what stores had them. (A handful of like 1s and 2s between 8 Targets in my area). Ordered it/paid for it online, walked into the store and picked it up. It was ready for pick up in less than an hour. Honestly great job Nintendo!
Thanks Nintendolife! I've been meaning to replace my new 3ds XL. Thanks for the heads up on the deal! There was only a handful available in my area. I'm now the proud owner of a New 3DS; I'm loving these plate covers!
Oh wow! Luigi's mansion 2 was great! The download play function in that is great! Road trips seem 100x times better when you have this and three other 3DS plus kids that share the passion for video games!
@mjhopkins81 the Prime series was awesome! Full of life and really pulled you into the story and environment like the 2Ds ones never could. I really enjoyed them and will absolutely buy four fed Forces day one. One for each of my kids and myself. It is going to be a amazing adventure just like Triforce heroes was.
Long time reader, occasional commenter here. The comments don't seem to reflect the polls. I for one really enjoyed Blast ball. I downloaded into 3/4 3DS's in my household. played us vs bots on a 1 or so road trip with my two younger boys. They loved it and I honestly enjoyed it too. Memories were made today. Realized this made the decision to buy three copies at release. We are going to have a blast!
@foodmetaphors true; knowing there is a huge unexplored world out there would be nice. But for playing with my youngest being only 6. This works out. He never leaves our "settled" area without his map or compass. Either way, I know he really won't get too crazy lost out there.
@happylittlepigs yup it does have pro controller integration. This is a cool feature for me. I won't have to lug the useless gamepad with the stand in dirt block image. I patiently wait for the full gamepad support. Besides on my phone, this is the only other Minecraft I own. It is a blast playing with my oldest son.
@skywake while Nintendo may not be in a unique position (as you pointed out. I concede to that fact). It still costs money and I believe when pressed on the subject of cross play; Nintendo stated the reasons of one) being costs and second) being if the developers are fine with that fact. Which basically; if the developer was fine eating that cost of giving it away free. And yes, sure it feels crummy to have to repurchase a game you literally own the real physical copy, but that is the cost of the convenience of playing it on a updated system. Owning GTA 3 for the Xbox doesn't mean you get to download it free on the App Store for your tablet. Why should it be the same with good old Ice Climbers? It costs money to transfer and have servers to store it ready for you to download it at your leisure into the NX's infrastructure. Bottom line; yes others have and Nintendo can too. But it costs money and money needs to be made from that investment. Is it a shameful to be given the opportunity to download the same game you just bought on a different console? Sure, it stings if you do it. But not everyone has the same games or both a Wii U and a 3DS. Perhaps someday Nintendo will finally join the rest; but that day I feel will be a different defeated Nintendo. "Sales!" they will scream; "discounts!" they will say! It deappreciates the games outlook if people know to just wait it out till the annual summer and winter sales. I believe there is a whole article on that fact somewhere...can't recall where I read that... But yes, you sir; I appreciate your existence and it has been a enlightening exchange. I surely would not object to cross-play functionality with my faithful handheld and favorite Home console.
Oh and @Kolzig, read above... Games are linked to NNID/Hardware; kinda of a hybrid..blah blah, read up, friend.
@skywake in regards to gaming; the commonality of all those items you mentioned? Same Hardware. Laptop/desktop? Same. Ditto for Steam that operates on PC platforms predominantly. But from a full blown console to its handheld that is different beast. Takes man hours to make that work flawlessly. Give the folks their hard earned money.
@skywake sounds like you are trying to get it in free. "If it's free. It's for me!" "I'll buy the new 3DS I swear!...if you give me freebies that is." But,, in the end. Maybe at the end of the New 3DS cycle they will give in to your demands. Pay your admission ticket and quit waiting for handouts.
Cross buy is appealing but; I have to agree with @Socar on not needing on another console. Quick pick up and play games sure. Ollie Ollie is perfect for cross play. But Super Metriod? Earthbound? If I am investing hours into the Wii U one; why would I want to pick up a new/different save on my handheld? Perhaps if the save file transferred and updated one an other somehow automatically via "cloud" service/spot pass? What if someone is at home currently playing it? Will it cause issues to the point that the save file is erased? Maybe a big WARNING splash saying to turn off the other console to update the save? I know steam does a nice job of it. I go From laptop to desktop. Quick server sync.
@helbertpina not really linked to the hardware...well more like a hybrid of the two. True you can't simply login to your NNID on cousin Jimmy's 3DS and start playing your eShop copy of Ice Climbers. But if you lost or had your Nintendo hardware stolen; it is just a phone call away to transfer your account into a new hardware.
@dublae they have a family account Main- like mine for example. I'm the main account and my two boys and wife are under mine. BUT they each have their own unique Nintendo account. Not too sure what it means for download except that I get email notifications whenever they(I) buy something from their 2DS or attempt/input parental passcode.
@Nintendian yup. Sure can. They ask you for your Nintendo network account name and a few other questions. And of course what is the new unit's serial number is. Basically who ever stole your Old one will be unable to play your games the moment he hits a Internet connection. It will see that it is no longer connected to you. Instant brick.
@Judgedean Nintendo totally does link your games to your account. Not the hardware. Haven't you heard of people losing or their Wii U being destroyed and simply calling Nintendo and recovering it all onto a new device? It may not be as simple as logging into another system and boom there it is. But it the games are tied to the account. I've lost and broke several 3DS'. Every time all it took was a simple call. To paraphrase it: Me: "Hey I lost one and bought a new one. Hook me back up?" Nintendo Rep: "Sure thing, Boss. Wow you have a huge library of games! You are keeping Nintendo afloat! What is the Serial Number of the new unit?" And boom. Quick 24hrs later and a restart. Access to all the games I bought.
Metroid FF? Yeah day one buy! I've bought Triforce Heroes and play it with my two young boys. This will be another great game to enjoy with them. It really is a great concept. I've grown up playing these games and now get to share these experiences with my kids. Not sure if I am the majority demographic anymore; but the amount of money I've been throwing to Nintendo has been very significant.
Acthually, I've been very surprised to see that my suggestions have come to fruition. Back in the club Nintendo survey days, I would always mention how I felt my left over odd dollars on my Nintendo account seemed stagnant. Always had like a $2.37 some odd change on there after loading a $60.00 eShop card. I started suggesting like if they could put like small Nintendo exclusive content or something of that nature. I didn't suggest anything as directly as badge arcade but I did voice my slight annoyance for a perpetually locked away "loose change." Thank goodness now for just "add needed funds."
Completed it. Yes, very long. Worth it to get y input out there to Nintendo. Hopefully the are listening. Don't flake on it ladies and gentlemen. Here they are asking for our input. Give it to them!
DL games and DLC content question, I just said, "refer to my Nintendo network ID _____________"
But yeah, the survey team that assembled this, they need some work! This could have been much less of a grind...
Sounds great to me. Get my kids to try a bite size of a game before I decide to buy it for them. I know I love the games of the past and played the best Nintendo has to offer. But what my kids like and what I like are very different. Found out the hard way. Lot of classics sitting on the Wii U that they just don't appreciate at this point in their development.
There is so much potential left in the console! I have yet to see a fully realized RTS of my dreams on here! A mirging of FPS/RTS hybrid; think like Battalion Wars!
Can't wait for mine. Wow sold out already? I put the order in on Monday. Pretty much as soon as I read it on here! Thanks Nintendolife! It is shipped and will be in my hands hopefully today!
Account wise, I have transferred my Wii onto Wii U onto another Wii U. 3DS to 3DS XL( which was broken unable to turn it on) onto a new 3DS XL over the phone and then finally onto a New 3DS XL. Maintaining my huge volume of digital content. Not as quick as login link new user but it works. I haven't lost a thing in the transfers.
@DarkKirby my experiences have been for the most part been positive. Most of steams features have been implemented in the Nintendo network- Miiverse differentiates users who own the game when it comes to posts. Ratings are in the eShop reflect those who bought it, can't leave a rating unless they own it. Kind of hard to see these things from an external point of view. Buying games is easy, you have the option of saving credit card info and click(touch) away. While they haven't had any large Steam size sales, sales do happen. I remember buying mega man games and others for 50% off a while back.
@crzysortagamer Not if you keep your distance with all your projectiles And then mix it with well timed dodges/sword play. Grab and launch into the air as much as possible too! Don't keep the fight on the ground!
@Jayvir For the most part I favor Shulk and Pac-Man in For Glory 1v1.
It was a hell of a learning curve for Shulk on when and where to use each Monado buff. But it was for the best. I was losing match after match at first. Then things started to turn around. Little Macs, Bowsers, Zero Suits, Foxes, and Game and Watches seem to get into this particular pattern every fight. Shulk and his Monado arts throw them all off. I am in a good winning streak....except when it comes to Jiggly puff...they get me every time! It is very funny!
@rjejr Day 1 update a last gen thing? I don't think it is something worth of merit. I say it is a sign of not getting it right the first time. Better issue a mandatory day 1 update.
