Re: Poll: How Much Do Early Access and Free Downloads Affect Your Purchasing Choices?

orravan85

Long time reader, occasional commenter here. The comments don't seem to reflect the polls. I for one really enjoyed Blast ball. I downloaded into 3/4 3DS's in my household. played us vs bots on a 1 or so road trip with my two younger boys. They loved it and I honestly enjoyed it too. Memories were made today. Realized this made the decision to buy three copies at release. We are going to have a blast!

@skywake while Nintendo may not be in a unique position (as you pointed out. I concede to that fact). It still costs money and I believe when pressed on the subject of cross play; Nintendo stated the reasons of one) being costs and second) being if the developers are fine with that fact. Which basically; if the developer was fine eating that cost of giving it away free. And yes, sure it feels crummy to have to repurchase a game you literally own the real physical copy, but that is the cost of the convenience of playing it on a updated system. Owning GTA 3 for the Xbox doesn't mean you get to download it free on the App Store for your tablet. Why should it be the same with good old Ice Climbers? It costs money to transfer and have servers to store it ready for you to download it at your leisure into the NX's infrastructure. Bottom line; yes others have and Nintendo can too. But it costs money and money needs to be made from that investment. Is it a shameful to be given the opportunity to download the same game you just bought on a different console? Sure, it stings if you do it. But not everyone has the same games or both a Wii U and a 3DS. Perhaps someday Nintendo will finally join the rest; but that day I feel will be a different defeated Nintendo. "Sales!" they will scream; "discounts!" they will say! It deappreciates the games outlook if people know to just wait it out till the annual summer and winter sales. I believe there is a whole article on that fact somewhere...can't recall where I read that... But yes, you sir; I appreciate your existence and it has been a enlightening exchange. I surely would not object to cross-play functionality with my faithful handheld and favorite Home console.

Oh and @Kolzig, read above... Games are linked to NNID/Hardware; kinda of a hybrid..blah blah, read up, friend.

Good night Nintendolife/everybody!!

Cross buy is appealing but; I have to agree with @Socar on not needing on another console. Quick pick up and play games sure. Ollie Ollie is perfect for cross play. But Super Metriod? Earthbound? If I am investing hours into the Wii U one; why would I want to pick up a new/different save on my handheld? Perhaps if the save file transferred and updated one an other somehow automatically via "cloud" service/spot pass? What if someone is at home currently playing it? Will it cause issues to the point that the save file is erased? Maybe a big WARNING splash saying to turn off the other console to update the save? I know steam does a nice job of it. I go From laptop to desktop. Quick server sync.

@Judgedean Nintendo totally does link your games to your account. Not the hardware. Haven't you heard of people losing or their Wii U being destroyed and simply calling Nintendo and recovering it all onto a new device? It may not be as simple as logging into another system and boom there it is. But it the games are tied to the account. I've lost and broke several 3DS'. Every time all it took was a simple call. To paraphrase it: Me: "Hey I lost one and bought a new one. Hook me back up?" Nintendo Rep: "Sure thing, Boss. Wow you have a huge library of games! You are keeping Nintendo afloat! What is the Serial Number of the new unit?" And boom. Quick 24hrs later and a restart. Access to all the games I bought.

Metroid FF? Yeah day one buy! I've bought Triforce Heroes and play it with my two young boys. This will be another great game to enjoy with them. It really is a great concept. I've grown up playing these games and now get to share these experiences with my kids. Not sure if I am the majority demographic anymore; but the amount of money I've been throwing to Nintendo has been very significant.

Re: Sound Your Survey Klaxon, Nintendo of America Wants Your Feedback

@Dankykong

Acthually, I've been very surprised to see that my suggestions have come to fruition. Back in the club Nintendo survey days, I would always mention how I felt my left over odd dollars on my Nintendo account seemed stagnant. Always had like a $2.37 some odd change on there after loading a $60.00 eShop card. I started suggesting like if they could put like small Nintendo exclusive content or something of that nature. I didn't suggest anything as directly as badge arcade but I did voice my slight annoyance for a perpetually locked away "loose change." Thank goodness now for just "add needed funds."

Completed it. Yes, very long. Worth it to get y input out there to Nintendo. Hopefully the are listening. Don't flake on it ladies and gentlemen. Here they are asking for our input. Give it to them!

DL games and DLC content question, I just said, "refer to my Nintendo network ID _____________"

But yeah, the survey team that assembled this, they need some work! This could have been much less of a grind...

Re: Masahiro Sakurai Praises the Achievements of Steam, Isn't Content With Other Download Services

@DarkKirby my experiences have been for the most part been positive. Most of steams features have been implemented in the Nintendo network- Miiverse differentiates users who own the game when it comes to posts. Ratings are in the eShop reflect those who bought it, can't leave a rating unless they own it. Kind of hard to see these things from an external point of view. Buying games is easy, you have the option of saving credit card info and click(touch) away. While they haven't had any large Steam size sales, sales do happen. I remember buying mega man games and others for 50% off a while back.

Re: Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS Update Includes Adjustments to "Balance the Game"

@Jayvir
For the most part I favor Shulk and Pac-Man in For Glory 1v1.

It was a hell of a learning curve for Shulk on when and where to use each Monado buff. But it was for the best. I was losing match after match at first. Then things started to turn around. Little Macs, Bowsers, Zero Suits, Foxes, and Game and Watches seem to get into this particular pattern every fight. Shulk and his Monado arts throw them all off. I am in a good winning streak....except when it comes to Jiggly puff...they get me every time! It is very funny!
