I'm thinking unveiling through Direct, followed by a Treehouse press event where they show off the games and some console features. Kind of like a Nintendo-centric E3.
@Phil_Kavadias Given that most of these kinds of Directs were presented by the local hosts (apart from bigger segments), it didn't feel too weird. E3, on the other hand...
@MrGawain Wii U discs have the same amount of space as single-layer Blu-ray discs (25GB), just as early PS3 discs did. IIRC, PS4 games only use dual-layer discs (50GB) with the rest downloading from the internet.
@MrGawain Well, with Wii U discs, they already have a Blu-ray style medium. Nintendo's typically avoided having to pay licensing fees by producing their own disc format.
Considering you can't even play all of the Wii U made courses on this one, plus there isn't the full range of content to make courses, this isn't really worth the money unless you're desperate to play the game. I'll stick with the better version.
@Yorumi Where is it reviewing poorly? 27 of the 37 critic reviews on Metacritic are average-to-great (60+). Given the number of negative user reviews on Metacritic are from people who actually admit they haven't played the game, you can count those out.
If this is true then the Eurogamer report would be false - it wouldn't make sense to have the only 'Share' button on a detachable controller because then only one player can use it when the sides are taken off of the screen.
Considering Human Revolution was ported to the Wii U by Straight Right and not Eidos, it's not outside the realm of possibility that Mankind Divided will come to the NX. Only Square Enix can give a definite answer.
@AlphaJaguar Hell, imagine if they unveiled it last night...!
It makes sense that they used Mario, not just because of the impact he (and Nintendo) has had on Japanese culture, but because he's in the official Olympic video games. That's why it's weird that we didn't also see Sanic.
The point is that you are acting as though 'real Metroid' sells by the bucketloads and Nintendo is somehow being idiotic in not making another 'real Metroid' game. The reality is that the last game you and others might consider 'real Metroid' (which, in itself, is ridiculous as only the game's creator can determine what that game truly is - anyone can have their own interpretation, but it doesn't mean they're right) sold only 1.81m from 2007 to last month. To put that into perspective: Mario Party 10, considered the worst Mario Party game, sold as many copies in just over a year; Splatoon, a new IP on a dead console, has sold nearly as many copies as the Prime trilogy combined in just over a year.
By your reckoning, the Prime trilogy must not be 'real Metroid' otherwise all of these Metroid fans would surely have voted with their wallets and purchased the games, rather than send the message that they didn't want that version of Metroid.
@ThanosReXXX I can understand them not divulging their sources - for both job security (for the source) and to avoid being blacklisted - but at least some physical evidence of what the source has said would be nice.
The thing is, given what Iwata has said in the past, it looks a lot more likely that the NX is two separate devices using the same operating system and scaling down games to fit those devices - similar to what the PS4 Neo and Project Scorpio are doing.
@ThanosReXXX Just to emphasise this point, because it's been bugging me since Eurogamer released their article: 'What we mean by integrating platforms is not integrating handhelds devices and home consoles to make only one machine. What we are aiming at is to integrate the architecture to form a common basis for software development so that we can make software assets more transferrable, and operating systems and their build-in applications more portable, regardless of form factor or performance of each platform.'
The problem with the Eurogamer article is that it basically says the NX is only 1 device which, as we know from reports last year, isn't true.
The difference is this is more for collectors, whereas the NES Classic Mini is just a cheap nostalgia item - a stocking filler designed to get people who want to play more than those 30 games to buy a 3DS or Wii U/NX and buy games on the Virtual Console.
In times like this, I always think of Iwata: '[it] is true that there are some Internet sites and certain media who have written stories about Nintendo as if they were official when, in reality, they did not come from any official sources such as interviews or announcements, nor were they confirmed by the company'.
@RainbowGazelle For people who want to play these games and don't own a Wii U or 3DS? Like the millions of people playing Pokemon GO who haven't bought a Pokemon game in years?

Re: Nintendo Appears at Apple Conference to Announce Super Mario Run
@rjejr Completely forgot about Sony's event this evening - nicely done Nintendo!
Re: Talking Point: The Scale of the Mobile Industry Makes it an Important Market for Nintendo
Animal Crossing in November, Mario in December. Where does that leave Fire Emblem?
Re: Talking Point: What Approach Should Nintendo Take With Its NX Reveal?
I'm thinking unveiling through Direct, followed by a Treehouse press event where they show off the games and some console features. Kind of like a Nintendo-centric E3.
Re: Metroid Prime: Federation Force Flops on UK Debut
Metroid Prime Hunters: 6,810 units
Metroid Prime 3: 13,143 units
Other M: 36,164 units
To say the UK's relationship with Metroid is weird is an understatement.

Re: Talking Point: The 2017 Role of the 3DS Was Established in its Nintendo Direct
One thing that is clear is that the portable part of the NX probably won't be released until next Christmas based on that Direct.

Re: Animal Crossing Mini Nintendo Direct Confirmed for 2nd November in Japan
Now we just need some info on the Fire Emblem game.
Re: Yoshi's Woolly World Will Soften Up Your 3DS In 2017, Poochy amiibo Also Incoming
@Pokefanmum82 The only real differences are that the 3DS version appears to be easier, has a few new features and doesn't look as nice.
Re: Super Mario Maker Is Coming To 3DS
@SmashbrosFtw1306 The 3DS wouldn't be able to run either Splatoon or XCX. It'd probably struggle to play 3D World as well.

@MrPuzzlez Next Level Games are a Canadian team.
Re: Metroid Prime: Federation Force Power Bombs in Japan
@Yorumi 66 isn't good, but it's not poor either - it's average.

Gravity Falls? Yay!
Guardians of the Galaxy? Boo.
Re: Fresh Nintendo Patents Reinforce Concept of NX Featuring Detachable Controllers
The NX rumours are incredibly interesting though: two separate, different devices that both sides are sure is the NX - for all we know, they both are.
Re: Video: New Metroid Prime: Federation Force Trailer Arrives, and It's Still Fighting Dislikes
@Yorumi Read again: 'you are acting', not 'you have said'. Key differences here.
Re: Video: New Metroid Prime: Federation Force Trailer Arrives, and It's Still Fighting Dislikes
@Yorumi Talk about not answering the question.
The point is that you are acting as though 'real Metroid' sells by the bucketloads and Nintendo is somehow being idiotic in not making another 'real Metroid' game. @Yorumi So the Prime trilogy wasn't real Metroid then?
Re: Nintendo Issues Takedown Notices for Impressive Fan-Made Metroid II Remake, AM2R
@Luna_110 Hell, Splatoon sold better than each of the Metroid Prime games despite being on a console with a smaller install base than either of them.

@Olmectron It confirms Dragon Quest X, not XI.

Re: Nintendo System Exclusives Continue a Summer Run in the UK Top 40
@MrGawain I know the feeling - the next game I'm looking forward to is Mass Effect Andromeda and that doesn't even have a release date!
Re: Nintendo System Exclusives Continue a Summer Run in the UK Top 40
@MJInnocent I think their issue is more with it being written in paragraphs rather than as a table. Right, @manu0?

Re: Just Dance 2017 Demo Set for the eShop With Bieber's "Sorry" Track
@shaneoh It was, and September is Earth Wind & Fire, but I'm guessing it's cheaper to do a cover.
Re: Just Dance 2017 Demo Set for the eShop With Bieber's "Sorry" Track
@Tsurii You don't know What is Love...? 'Baby don't hurt me, don't hurt me'... Or even September? 'Love was changing the minds of pretenders'...

Re: Gallery: Let This Awesome Nintendo NX Mock-Up Excite You
@A01 The bars on the far-left and far-right look like sensors, similar to those on the GamePad and Wii Remotes.
Re: Lead and Assistant Designers Quit Nintendo Software Technology
@The__Goomba Maybe, as long as Nintendo gives them a fixed budget so they don't waste another $1m on something ridiculous like billboards.
Re: Team Marie Triumphs in Splatoon's Final Splatfest
@SLIGEACH_EIRE It lasted from Friday morning to yesterday morning - that was more suited to Europe than anywhere else.
Re: Darksiders is Coming to Wii U
@The_Dude_Abides Production is stopping in 2018.
Re: Autumn Animal Crossing: New Leaf Update To Bring amiibo Figure And Card Support
@Sakura It looks like cards visit and figures probably move in.

Man, I was just robbing - I mean, helping to collect fruit.... in my town last night because of this stupid heat.
Re: Random: Turns Out Mario Kart Might Make You A Better Driver In Real Life
Not really - red shells keep stopping me on A roads.
Re: Nintendo Is Now More Valuable Than Sony Thanks To Pokémon GO
@Piersen So ancient. Such ruin.
Re: Nintendo Classic Mini: Nintendo Entertainment System Leads Best Seller Charts on Amazon in Europe
@OorWullie Not just that: if the NX is indeed announced in September, Nintendo could very well end up dominating gaming news for months.
Re: Guide: Where To Preorder The Nintendo NES Classic Mini In The UK
@Kirk Given the subtitle 'Nintendo Classic Mini', there's clearly a series of these coming up in the next few years.

@Anti-Matter This is my NEXt.

Downloading now - gonna grab my bike and ride through Kalos later. Wait: this doesn't teleport you? Fine, I'll take the stupid bus then...!
Re: Pokémon GO Global Rollout Delayed While Niantic Fixes Server Woes
@Uzuki I think Nintendo are also producing the accessory, but that's about as far as their involvement in this app goes.
Re: Pokémon GO Global Rollout Delayed While Niantic Fixes Server Woes
@gatorboi352 DeNA partnered with Nintendo, not Niantic.
Re: Pokemon GO Isn't Just Leading in Downloads, It's the Top Grossing App at Launch
No surprise really - Ingress was just as popular.
