Pokémon GO has become a global hit without a global release, thanks to workarounds, but Niantic is continuing to increase the roll-out in new countries; it seems to be shooting for regular arrivals this week.
After landing in Germany recently, it's now confirmed to be available on iOS and Android in the UK.
We've checked on our phones here in old Blighty and, sure enough, it's there and ready to be downloaded.
Niantic seems to be at the stage where it's managing servers and increasing availability at a gradual rate. There are still plenty of countries waiting - including Japan, Canada, France and many others - but progress is at least being made.
Let us know how you get on with it, UK Trainers.

Gotta Catch them all, UK!
Won't work on my iPhone 4S. :/
Has the battery issue been resolved? That's a deal-breaker for me.
Downloaded. Was the gmail privacy thing sorted? I couldn't create a separate account as the servers were busy.
The night only be on App Store for now, I just downloaded it, glad I got a iPhone 6s now lol I'm just waiting on Nintendo store to dispatch my go plus
So far works much better server wise than the Australian work around I've been using for 5 days! Loads instantly every time and doesn't prang out during gym battles!!!
Got it on android..........need to put it in search box though to find it
Downloading now - gonna grab my bike and ride through Kalos later. Wait: this doesn't teleport you? Fine, I'll take the stupid bus then...!
I downloaded the APK to see what all the fuss is about and it appears there are no Pokemon to catch here in Thailand,at least in my city anyway.
Here's a heart-warming story I heard on Dutch television: A boy is playing Pokemon Go and finds a Pikachu....on the grave of his younger brother. Now comes the crazy part: The younger brother was a huge Pokemon fan and he especially liked Pikachu. He even has a Pikachu gravestone. So how sweet is it that of all places there's a Pikachu to be found on his grave?
@Judgedean I hope so because that's what I used.
Seems to be I'm really not original with coming up with nicknames as they're all taken. I guess that's what happens when it's got tens of millions of players. I gave up and went back to bed.
@BensonUii
Cor blimey guv'nor! You should know by now UK = England 😉
@BensonUii @BarryDunne can't find it either
It's already on charts on Android I've seen a couple people walking around Leeds, now I presume I'll be seeing more haha.
But I've been watching people from UK playing it plenty....
@Fandabidozi No wonder they have several "independence" movements. Like the Scots, the Irish, and the Sealander.
I was hoping that when it was released in the UK, Ireland would get it too...sadly, that is not the case
@BensonUii behave yourself you!
@whodatninja
It's the official Google Store release, nothing was stopping anyone from downloading the *.apk package and installing it with bypassing the shop (assuming it was the version for the Android, don't know about the iOS, as I don't own any OSX device).
I'm from Poland and I've been playing the game for several days now - and there's no official Polish release (and I highly doubt there will be any ever, as Nintendo actively ignores our nation since the beginning of time).
@Phil_Kavadias
The same thing happened to me on my phone when it first came out here in Australia. I'm not entirely sure, but I think it means the device isn't compatible due to an OS that isn't good enough.
I believe Androids need at least 4.4 OS and iPhones 5+ will work, as long as they are iOS 8+. They will also need a GPS connection built into the device.
So I've been using the android apk for the last few days, should I use the update function for this now on the play store? I assume my save data will be ok
Several newspapers in Russia cited Nintendo of Russia promising rollout there by the end of this week. Not that Valor hasn't already taken over most of the gyms in Moscow...
@VanillaLake What battery issues? It uses the GPS, Data, Screen and Camera so if you expect your battery to last, it won't with any application that uses all of that.
@ikki5 Some users reported battery lasting a few hours only.
It's not available for me yet in googleplay.
@VanillaLake
Yeah, it does. What's your point? You go use the GPS, Data, and Camera all at the same time with your screen on and tell me how that affects your battery. You'll be surprised with how much it puts a drain on it. If you want them to fix the "issue," then there is going to need to be a lot of stuff changed on this app where it doesn't use all those things.
Psst...
Has someone tried to find Pokemon near of Buckingham Palace or Madame Tussaud Museum ?
Why does Ireland share the damn Pokemon Go website with the "UK" if we aren't going to get the game at the same time for ducks sake. I'd love to see NintendoLife writing about problems like these every once in a while. Oh, and while you're at it, don't forget Ireland cannot buy the Go Plus device as it is a "Uk" Store "Exclusive" who do not ship to Ireland or Fowarding Services. Gotta love being a Nintendo Fan in Ireland
@ikki5 Am I allowed to have my opinion?
@VanillaLake
Did I say that? No, I am just saying you should be more realistic when classifying "issues" because any app that uses as much as Pokemon Go would suffer the same battery drain.
@ikki5 My opinion is that if it is such a battery-sucker that's a deal-breaker. No need to argue about it.
@Judgedean The Google account privacy issue was fixed recently.
I wonder how japanese players feel about this game being out first in several countries EXCEPT their own (yet).
@Sunset758 Aww I'd guess if the UK are getting it now, Ireland will follow shortly after! ^_^ I'm surprised it came out here so soon, before Japan.
@VanillaLake Yep, you have to buy at least a couple of portable chargers to play Pokémon Go for a prolonged period of time. It spends too much energy reporting every possible personally identifiable detail about you back to the Google mothership...
And yes, you do get to have an opinion that's different from others, but only if it's different in the same way.
@Waninoko Yeah Nintendo sucks with any European country that ISN'T France, Germany and UK.
Oh yeah! What if the next Mystery Dungeon just starred a bunch of Poképeople who all have REALLY thick Cockney accents?
@PlywoodStick Thank you much for your answer! Also, we know that battery cycles are limited, so not only you need two chargers but also a few spare batteries, too.
The first thing I check when I am thinking of getting a new phone is its battery life.
Not seeing it on the UK Play Store.
@Morph All save data is linked to the google account/trainer account you're using.
@VanillaLake A mobile game using GPS and camera on top of graphics and network, draining the battery of the said phone? GTFO!
-.-
@PaperMario64 Yeah and it sucks.
And it sucks all your private info, too!
UK peeps, is the game crashing and freezing a lot or is it playing okay? I'm in the US and it has been running sooooooo crappy, though today was much better! It still crashed every fifteen minutes, but that's better than every three minutes like it has been doing.
@nab1 They have Pokemon Centers....it is a fair trade. lol
@VanillaLake In other news: The sky is blue and water is wet.
@PaperMario64 Comments section are to express how you feel about things, it does not matter if the things that I am talking about are obvious or not. If they are obvious sometimes it's even worse. This is why comments section exists, in case you don't know.
