Re: Review: Motorsport Manager For Nintendo Switch - A Winning Formula For F1 Fans

madmatt213

@Agramonte It costs at least $11 on mobile to get the same stuff that's in the Switch version, and even then the Switch version has a new track plus more enhancements and changes, including actual modeled cars during the race as opposed to colorful number blobs cruising around the track on the mobile version. Also, you can play with a controller on Switch, whereas touchscreen-only on mobile.

The base game MM3 on mobile is $4, but it cost $7 for the editor (changing racer/team names, etc) which you can do in the Switch version, so that brings it to a closer cost parity. I don't own the game on iOS so I don't know what the other in-app purchases are. Also of note that the name on Switch looks better, with the clear difference being that actual cars are modeled in-game during the races in the Switch version, based on videos/trailers I've seen. On the mobile version, the cars are only represented as dots with racer numbers on them. MM1 had real cars, but MM2 and MM3 only had dots representing cars. This was one of the reasons why I never bought MM3 on iOS, but I think I will buy this on Switch.

@Wanjia Take it up with Nintendo, they’re the ones posting North American eShop update press release on Thursday mornings (local time). Thursday is when Nintendo updates the eShop, so that’s why Nintendo Life posts this article each week.

Re: Review: Ape Out - A Short But Oh-So-Sweet Action Title That Every Switch Owner Should Play

madmatt213

I’m bummed that Devolver doesn’t give 15% off for customer loyalty anymore on the last several games they’ve put out. I skipped GRIS to wait on a sale, but I may buy this now because I’ve really been waiting to play it since it was first shown.

Edit: I checked the store and GRIS does have the 15% off discount for me. I guess I was thinking I’d wait for a bigger sale. I must have been thinking of Pikuniku being the new game without the discount. Downwell also did not have the discount, but that’s only $3 so I bought that immediately. I did also buy Ape Out too.

Re: Reminder: SEGA Classic Out Run Hits Switch Today, Here's A Launch Trailer To Celebrate

madmatt213

Debating if I wanted to double-dip on this, but I think I will buy it now. Being able to play it on a TV, along with the larger Switch screen itself, sounds very appealing to me, though I’ll miss having 3D turned on. I thought about waiting for a sale, but I’d like to think the extra $2 I spend now will encourge Sega to keep commissioning M2 to put out definitive ports.

Re: Review: Horizon Chase Turbo - A Worthy Successor To Sega's Out Run

Clowns dismissing this as a mobile game are... clowns. Do you call Civilization VI a mobile game? Fortnite? Sonic the Hedgehog? Final Fantasy VII?

Garbage boy gamers will always be garbage day gamers, no matter if we make trash day seven days a week.

Now that I vented, I’m very happy to pay $20 today to buy this on Switch. This game flew under my radar somehow, even though Top Gear 1 and 2 are on my personal top SNES games list. I tried the demo of this on PS4 last night, seems like a blast, but I’ll buy it on Switch based on performance being good according to this review, and because I prefer all games to be on Switch.

Re: Nintendo Download: 15th November (North America)

Since people always question the list of titles that are and aren’t here...

I believe this is just the PR breakdown straight from Nintendo. So NoA is to blame when they are a week late to announce HAMSTER games, and when they don’t include games, like for instance Super Hydorah this week.

Re: Zen Studios Announces Williams Pinball Volume One Is Coming To Pinball FX3 This October

madmatt213

@JayJ Recreating pinball tables takes a lot of work, and I’m assuming that Zen didn’t start work until sometime after May when the Williams/Bally contract leaving FarSight was announced. Zen also made a whole new physics engine for these new tables, so that took time too. Once they streamline their workflow in regards to digital scanning real table and tweaking settings, I’m sure their output will increase.

Re: Zen Studios Acquires Bally And Williams Pinball Licence, Tables Headed To Pinball FX3

madmatt213

I’ve been playing the Pinball FX 3 open beta of these tables on Steam, and I can attest that their new physics engine for these real tables feels great! Way better than the feel of their virtual tables. These tables also look fantastic, better than I’ve ever seen them look in The Pinball Arcade. This was the absolute best thing that could have happened with the Williams license after they bailed on FarSight Studios. I’m going to definitely buy all the Williams & Bally tables that Zen releases, so long as they perform just as well on Switch (my preferred digital pinball system).

Re: Nintendo Download: 24th May (North America)

madmatt213

@mystman12 It drives me crazy too. I think the developer is using confusing phrasing in the hopes to mislead people. The table is only made to look like a table that could exist in reality (as opposed to Pinball FX tables). The screenshots make it look very poor for even $2, can’t imagine the physics would feel good to play either.

Re: Review: N++ (Switch eShop)

madmatt213

N++ is one of my favorite games of this generation, just like N+ was one of my favorites of last generation.
This will be the third time I buy N++, and I’ll be very happy to do so on Thursday. Can’t wait to see the custom levels that the community creates this time around!

Re: N++ Ultimate Edition Backflips Onto Switch Later This Month

madmatt213

This is one of my favorite game series, if you can call it that. I think this will be the 5th time I’ve bought a N game, which of course does not count the original freeware version. This newest version is fantastic, easily worth whatever they charge. I have it on PS4 and Steam, and will be buying this day one (or preordering if it becomes available).

Re: Nintendo Download: 5th April (North America)

madmatt213

FYI: I just noticed tonight that a new Switch Channel popped up for The Pinball Arcade, announcing that TPA will be launching on the eShop tomorrow (April 6th)!! I can only speak for the North American eShop, no clue if this will launch in Europe too. The news item says it will be free to download, with "Tales of the Arabian Nights" table for free. It will launch with 94 tables for purchase, which I think might mean that covers all 7 seasons that has been released on other consoles/devices. The news items also mentions it will launch with 60fps docked and handheld (docked 1080p), and will have TATE/Vertical/Portrait support both docked and handheld. Will also have leaderboards. Since the game is basically Stern Pinball Arcade, but with a different interface and covers more table manufacturers, it should hopefully run as well as SPA does now after the patch. If you don't follow TPA on other consoles/devices, the seasons of tables are usually priced $30, or $40 to upgrade to Pro tables. No mention if they'll have Pro tables when it launches tomorrow.

I own a bunch of seasons of tables on Steam, but I'm very excited to see how this Switch version turns out. I'll definitely give Arabian Nights a good playthrough before I drop any money, in case this is a complete wreck (I am praying they did lots of testing before releasing this)!

Re: Flipping Heck, That Pinball FX3 Switch Patch Is Coming After All

madmatt213

@Mommar As someone else pointed out, a pinball table only has digital paddle buttons. I don't know of a single table in the entire history of pinball that has any sort of analog interface with the paddles. Having digital triggers on Switch controllers actually feels much better to me playing pinball than it does on PS4/Xbox/PC. I actually change the paddle buttons on those systems to the digital bumper buttons, since the analog triggers don't feel right playing pinball that way.
