$10 for a mobile game certainly sounds pricey, but...people have spent far more than that on free-to-play games.
I won't be buying it as I carry my 3DS practically everywhere and I have New Super Mario Bros. 2 digitally, but I'll probably get the free version for a minute.
Honestly, I like the control scheme and I'll definitely consider picking up the full game...but Blast Ball is broken and certainly does not mesh well with the GameCube Metroid Prime control scheme.
I only see the same, relatively masculine, Link except from a lower perspective with a hood.
On the topic of a female Link, I have no issue with it at all. Why would I? Yeah. The hero of the goddess can be female. I just want to enjoy the game.
I don't want a gender option, though. I want this to be an incarnation of Link I can say "Oh yeah, that's Zelda U Link." I want Link to have their own identity per game. Wind Waker Link has his own identity, Twilight Princess Link has his own, and Skyward Sword Link has his own. If this Link is female, so be it. But not a choice.
@BensonUii has a good point with the Shulk vs. XCX Protag comparison.
@Mayor_Patycake But why, though? That doesn't make sense.
With the 3DS Ambassador system, it was a price drop mere months after launch. They did that to try and make early adopters not feel burned when they could have waited and spent $80 less.
The NX is a new console and buying a new console always comes with risks. On top of that, it's not like the Wii U's life is being cut short or anything by NX. Wii U launched November 2012. By the time NX launches, the Wii U will have been out for 4 years and some change--a typical console life cycle.
Rather upsetting news, but nothing that upsets me too much.
I still have a large backlog to go through. There are still plenty interesting Wii U games (to me, anyway) in the coming months I want to grab. This likely means the NX won't be launching too soon, so that's good. It also means (maybe) that the NX will continue with a GamePad, so that's another plus for me.
I am upset I won't be playing Zelda U this year (or perhaps at all), but at the same time, I'd be lying if I said I didn't enjoy my time with the Wii U and that this one game delay warrants dropping Nintendo or even selling my system.
And while the delay to release them simultaneously is upsetting, I'll take that over getting a "remastered" version of a three month old game like the PS4 and One's library was full of (if not the libraries' entirety) for the first several months.
Hell, I was just talking about a backlog to go through... I just bought the second Nintendo Humble Bundle yesterday.
Personally, I'm more offended that other big titles I was interested in for my PS4 last E3 ended up being episodic releases instead of a single game.
@Moon Agh. Sorry about that... Completely forgot about region lock...
Well, you heard it here, folks! I'm from North America. If you're from NA as well and you want Darksiders II (Wii U) or Street Fighter IV (3DS), let me know and I'll send you the code.
If the NX is a home console and has a second screen as its controller, I'll be satisfied.
The GamePad isn't used to the fullest, but darn it, when it is used, it's an incredible experience. And even used at it's most basic with a map or inventory management, it's still extremely helpful. When I'm playing my PS4 games, a Wii U GamePad equivalent would be greatly appreciated there.
I absolutely love the Wii U GamePad. From the moment I held it for the first time at a demo station, it became my favorite controller.
I wish it was utilized in more games, but the games that do take advantage of it (Batman Arkham City, Zombi U, Super Mario Maker, Splatoon, and others) are a joy to play.
Still wish we could have gotten something like L. A. Noire where the GamePad is your notebook or GTA V where it's your phone.
@hiptanaka It'd certainly be a challenge. However, that's not to say that if Nintendo went with x86 next time around that they'd suddenly find themselves with third party titles.
For that, they'd basically have to make their own PS or Xbox. We'd have three of the same system on the market. The only difference would be exclusives.
@RoomB31 And that's only weird to me because they kind of have backwards compatibility with PSNow, but that's a subscription service instead of just letting you download the game. And I know that's streaming the game to the PS4 and not running it off of the hardware itself, but...I dunno. Microsoft put the money into backwards compatibility...why shouldn't Sony? Why shouldn't Nintendo keep doing so?
@hiptanaka Power and hardware do come into play, but that's not all there is to it. If Nintendo made something that still used PowerPC and was slightly underpowered, but sold like hotcakes, third parties would jump on it regardless.
And no, it's not trivial to make a console backwards compatible, but it wouldn't hurt to have. Wii and Wii U are backwards compatible. Pretty much all of Nintendo's portable consoles are backwards compatible. Even the One's got some backwards compatibility.
Again, I'm just against previous generation remakes/remasters. I'd much rather have backwards compatibility.
I just feel like the game would be better if one is picked. I would love to play as a female Link and learn more lore from the Zelda Universe. I just don't want the game, as others have already said, to be generalized for both gender options. I want the game to be as great as it can be crafted around who that incarnation of Link is.
Just as an example, I feel that many of the Zelda games would be way different if Link was female or if Link had the option between male and female. The interaction with Ruto would be way different in Ocarina of Time. The whole story would be different for Skyward Sword. Heck, Link's interactions in Twilight Princess would even be different.
How about just make the NX backwards compatible instead of making ports? That way, anyone who didn't get a Wii U can still play the must-have games in its library and development time and money doesn't have to go into remasters/ports/definitive editions/HD versions/etc...
And, you know, it's not like that'd cut profits for Nintendo or anything. They could also put that development money into bringing the Wii U eShop library over to the NX so people have the option to buy Splatoon, Super Mario Maker, Smash, and so on straight from Nintendo.
I'm just really not in favor of ports to recent games. Wii remasters on NX? Fine. GameCube? N64? SNES? Go for it. Wii U remasters...? No. That just leaves a bad taste in my mouth. There's an audience for it as evidenced by the PS4 and One launches, but I personally don't get it. Cross-generation releases also fall into this category, but I've been more lenient with them on Nintendo systems (Wii and Wii U specifically) because it's not usually a straight port with slightly better visuals, it's the same game with a different way to play (Wiimote and Nunchuck vs. GameCube Controller).
It's looking like the game's playable without looking solely at the GamePad, but, like the man in the video said, you can look there to fine-tune your shots.
Seems like it's going to be kind of like Splatoon in that regard.

Glad we have a rewards system back. I wonder if there'll be a way to register products that released post Club Nintendo (Splatoon, Xenoblade Chronicles X, Animal Crossing: Amiibo Festival, Super Mario Maker, etc.)
Also, I can't wait for this to have some actual use. It's pretty empty right now.
...? 30 FPS isn't good...? What world is this? So many games are 30 FPS and 30 frames is not only totally playable, but is still a smooth looking game. Is it as smooth as 60? Well, no, but it's a stable 30 frames for the majority of the game and, like I said, is still perfectly playable.
And in my opinion, 30 FPS doesn't automatically make a game better (nor does it being 1080p for that matter). If the game is good, it's good. If the performance actually struggles, that's when it's a problem for me.

Re: Nintendo Switch Won't Have Miiverse Or StreetPass
Then I guess that app we'll have to use for voice chat will be the Miiverse replacement.

Re: Delays With The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild Due to Physics Engine and Dual Release Decision
As long as the game's coming out, I'll be happy.
Also, I'm pro-GamePad. If it's not the NX's controller, so be it, but a more streamlined GamePad would make me a happy camper.
Re: Talking Point: Our Hopes For Nintendo's E3 2016 Legend of Zelda (and Pokémon) Bonanza
If there are to be any surprises, I'd only expect them to be more information on games we already know.
Nintendo said we're only getting Zelda and Pokemon? Fair enough. That's what I'll be ready for
Re: E3 2016: Nintendo E3 Zelda Badge Appears to Suggest Male and Female Link

Re: For What It's Worth, Watch Dogs 2 Launches This November
I got the first one with my PS4, and I haven't spent much time with it. I should actually sit down and play it at some point.
From the little bit I have played, my favorite thing to do is just walk around and see what the NPCs are all about.
Re: Talking Point: Retro-Focused, Innovative and Inexpensive Portables Should Be Part of Nintendo's Future
Not sure if I'm missing the whole point of this article, but...why?
Honestly, I think the itch you want scratched here is basically solved by Nintendo doing exactly what they've been doing with the 3DS except better.
Have apps that allow you to make games (SmileBASIC) and just have a larger library of VC games.
Again, if I'm missing something, please let me know.

Re: Humble Friends of Nintendo Bundle Offers Games at a Huge Discount
@Ashthearcher You pay on the Humble Bundle website and you get the codes to redeem them on the eShop after you've paid.
Re: Humble Friends of Nintendo Bundle Offers Games at a Huge Discount
@scubydo Don't forget to tell people whether you're in NA or EU as the codes are region locked.
Re: Humble Friends of Nintendo Bundle Offers Games at a Huge Discount
@ALinkttPresent Awesome! Thanks!
Re: Humble Friends of Nintendo Bundle Offers Games at a Huge Discount
@Deadlyblack Apparently, you can get it now and get the games they add later, too.
Re: Humble Friends of Nintendo Bundle Offers Games at a Huge Discount
Just so I'm not constantly checking here to see if someone wants Darksiders II, I'll just post it here.

Oooh. Games are downloading. Looking forward to playing...
Just kinda wish I had more willpower during Finals Week...
Re: Humble Friends of Nintendo Bundle Offers Games at a Huge Discount
@CreamyDream Uh. Refresh the page or something. The code should be the right length. If not, email Humble Bundle about it.
Also, double check that you entered it correctly. Sometimes it's the little things.
Re: Humble Friends of Nintendo Bundle Offers Games at a Huge Discount
@PewnyPL But, like...there aren't two different websites? humblebundle.com vs humblebundle.co.uk or something? Sorry dude...
Re: Humble Friends of Nintendo Bundle Offers Games at a Huge Discount
I will say that this has changed my stance on the Region Lock issue. Heh.
Edit: Also, either my university internet is bad (likely) or we're putting some strain on these servers with this bundle.
Re: Humble Friends of Nintendo Bundle Offers Games at a Huge Discount
@PewnyPL I think that's a Nintendo thing, not Humble Bundle.
Re: Humble Friends of Nintendo Bundle Offers Games at a Huge Discount
@ALinkttPresent Have fun, man!
Re: Humble Friends of Nintendo Bundle Offers Games at a Huge Discount
Spent all this time trying to give out my spare codes, I haven't started downloading my own, yet... Haha.
Re: Humble Friends of Nintendo Bundle Offers Games at a Huge Discount

@gcunit It's supposed to be an EarthBound-esque RPG, right? I'd go 3DS just to have it with you.

@Angelic_Lapras_King You can redeem the codes and download them at a later date, I believe.

@Moon Is Street Fighter working for you now? Reading through the comments it just occurred to me that the codes may be region locked...and I'm NA.
Re: Humble Friends of Nintendo Bundle Offers Games at a Huge Discount
@Moon No issue at all! I'll just screenshot it.
Re: Humble Friends of Nintendo Bundle Offers Games at a Huge Discount
@Moon Don't mention it!
Re: Humble Friends of Nintendo Bundle Offers Games at a Huge Discount
Wish I would have given out codes last bundle... I never play SteamWorld or Ollie Ollie on my Wii U.
Re: Humble Friends of Nintendo Bundle Offers Games at a Huge Discount
@ALinkttPresent Sorry. @Moon was first.
Re: Humble Friends of Nintendo Bundle Offers Games at a Huge Discount
I've already got
Street Fighter IVTo @Moon and Darksiders II. If you want the code for one, let me know.Re: Humble Friends of Nintendo Bundle Offers Games at a Huge Discount
@russellohh oh. Man. Going for it. Thanks for the pro tip!
Re: Humble Friends of Nintendo Bundle Offers Games at a Huge Discount
@russellohh You tellin' me I can spend $10 now and get all the games they release above the average price?
Re: Humble Friends of Nintendo Bundle Offers Games at a Huge Discount
I already have Super Street Fighter IV and Darksiders II, but I'll still jump on this bundle.
I'll wait a bit to see what else gets added. Man, I'm excited for this! Been wanting to get Shantae and Freedom Planet!
