Don't people compare indie prices to AAA prices? I think these small developers are psyching themselves out by comparing themselves to Hollow Knight.

This game actually looks sick. There's a lot of big money behind these classic IPs and they turn out some sleeper hits.

@RupeeClock The Glover re-release is said to be an absolute travesty made by one man who claimed he could do it when he could not. Bad textures, sounds, everything.

It feels like we've lost the plot.

@LastFootnote Dozens of games are released each month, at least. It's not Team Cherry's responsibility to plan everyone's release dates. Nobody complains when a game shadow drops. The real lesson apparently is they should have been even less communicative.

To me this is what a perfect release looks like. "We're working on it. See you when it's ready." You got it, boss.

I think the only visible difference is how far up the green patch is on the neck, but the wings (and everything else) are exactly the same dimension at all lines. People who value creativity, especially artists, take pride in creating something. Not in copying. If you want to be an author you can take inspiration from as many things as you want, but I doubt you would copy and paste whole pages out of another book. Right?

It actually is wild to see people defending plagiarism when even the pokemon company didn't want it.

The game excels in the first half, and like any Lovecraft themed work you are right that it teases a payout that doesn't quite live up to the journey. As far as these things go I thought the game did a very good job of wrapping it up.

I started a new game to play Iron Rig in tandem and so far I am having fun coming back to the world. The DLC demands a lot of material so solves that problem for you. At the end of the day you have to like the deep sea pokemon collectathon to get the most out of it. It's like Hoenn all over again.

@niner Yoshi's Story was the first game I ever beat and it was because of that player's guide.

This was THE game I wanted to love as a kid because it's so cool and the mechanics are fun, but it has a lot of flaws and missed opportunities. It really needs a full blown remake. RIP 1313.

Are they still charging $15 for World of Goo? That game came out in 2008.

I don't know if I'd even call it an homage to a specific game. Link's Awakening is obviously a big influence but it does its own thing. That said it's a great entry for capturing the experience of a solid gameboy adventure. Nostalgia is hard to do without pandering, but this is an original game that does it well.
