@ShieldHero The image is very obviously traced. I think the only visible difference is how far up the green patch is on the neck, but the wings (and everything else) are exactly the same dimension at all lines. People who value creativity, especially artists, take pride in creating something. Not in copying. If you want to be an author you can take inspiration from as many things as you want, but I doubt you would copy and paste whole pages out of another book. Right?
@AnonyQ The game excels in the first half, and like any Lovecraft themed work you are right that it teases a payout that doesn't quite live up to the journey. As far as these things go I thought the game did a very good job of wrapping it up.
I started a new game to play Iron Rig in tandem and so far I am having fun coming back to the world. The DLC demands a lot of material so solves that problem for you. At the end of the day you have to like the deep sea pokemon collectathon to get the most out of it. It's like Hoenn all over again.
This was THE game I wanted to love as a kid because it's so cool and the mechanics are fun, but it has a lot of flaws and missed opportunities. It really needs a full blown remake. RIP 1313.
@Bonggon5 I don't know if I'd even call it an homage to a specific game. Link's Awakening is obviously a big influence but it does its own thing. That said it's a great entry for capturing the experience of a solid gameboy adventure. Nostalgia is hard to do without pandering, but this is an original game that does it well.
The NL review is pretty spot on. Very nostalgic and well-built game. I find it odd the review mentions "emulation-style slowdown" as a negative when it actually hit just right and brought me fully back to Link's Awakening on the GBC. The game provides the right feeling for a GB game without getting stuck in the ghosts of design past. For example, backtracking is a little tedious after being spoiled by modern games, but the length of the game and map design keep it in check. There are a few minor complaints as NL mentions, like an uncanny lack of player sound effects, but overall it's very good.
The atmosphere is an awesome achievement for this format. The music is superb, area title cards are oozing with character. I only wish I could spend more time in the world they built. Would love to see another entry in this universe.
@dodgeskill100 There's an old-school manual and some frames in the settings. I think I encountered a little classic gameboy slowdown at one point so the ROM feels authentic to me. It's a very charming game.

It actually is wild to see people defending plagiarism when even the pokemon company didn't want it.
Re: Princess Peach's New Voice Actor Has Been Confirmed

Anyway, shame Charles Martinet is no longer voicing Peach but I guess all things come to an end.
