Hey, I've beaten this. I love Earthbound, of course, but the Earthbound comparisons here, though inevitable, are also pretty facile. However, I can confirm that it IS really good, with stuff that you absolutely won't expect (and yes, there are few parts that are really, really horrifying--but not, imo, in a cheap or gratuitous way). Recommended, on whatever platform.
Look: we don't know what this console will be called, but it's a cinch it won't be "Switch 2." So until the official name is revealed, why don't we just call it something cool, like the Nintendo Hypercannon? Plenty of time to get used to the real name later!
As a Mystery Dungeon fan, I played through this; I found the story way more gripping than it had any right to be, but do be aware that the difficulty is MASSIVELY toned down compared to other games in the series. I don't remember any notable challenge.
I played this back in the day; it was vaguely amusing for a very brief period, but it was VERY repetitive and got old fast. I'd honestly forgotten it ever existed until I saw this article.
Attack of the Friday Monsters is SO GOOD (though, granted, the card game could get a just a bit repetitive...). It's awful to think of it just vanishing when the 3ds store closes.
I liked Sticker Star. The general lack of much in the way of NPCs or storyline might turn some off, but I kinda dug the vibe. Not a masterpiece, but what the hey. It felt very different than any other Paper Mario, which I appreciated, and it's still better than Origami King, at any rate.
Not gonna lie: after V3 it would be VERY hard to make a new Danganronpa game that didn't feel like a complete betrayal. Or if you think "betrayal" is too harsh a word, let's just say that it would lack integrity. Prove very clearly that the ending of V3 meant NOTHING.
Still, the series has consistently confounded my expectations, so I dunno.
Somehow, this REALLY makes me want to go back and replay the original Zelda. That box is HELLA nostalgic, even if it never made it out of the conceptual phase.
I played the original Harvest Moon when it first came out; I was drawn to the idea, but it was very limited in execution, and I was never able to get into any of the follow-ups. I found the anime art kind of ugly and the characters generally boring stereotypes.
On the other hand, I've played Stardew Valley for over three hundred hours over the course of two playthroughs. I'm not sure if it's my favorite game EVER, but definitely up there. But I can't play the Switch version. Why not? Because then I couldn't install Stardew Valley Expanded, which is an absolute must. Most mods that add new characters and whatnot feel very fanfic-ish and clash in unappealing ways with the base game, but SVE is the exception. It makes a great game greater; y'all should try it.
I say absolutely more power to everyone who liked Bug Fables. You were able to have an aesthetic experience that I wasn't, so clearly you win, and I'm obviously in an extreme minority, but I found the "clever" dialogue so unbearably nails-on-a-chalkboard grating that I had to stop playing. It was just painful.
I'm a big SaGa fan, but please do note that RS1, whether the SFC version of PS2 remake, is more or less unplayable without a walkthrough constantly open. It is incredibly obtuse. And I love most of the games in the series.
Are we really just not differentiating between the North American and European covers? I like the art, but to me (an American, admittedly) the European one looks way too busy with that "pal version" and the unappealing clash of the black on the left and the greenish teal on the right (and also on the far left, for some reason). It's also kinda weird that it doesn't include the Capcom logo, though that doesn't bother me.
I've played and loved all the mainline Dragon Quest games (except for X, which of course I've never played, dangit), but I've had a pretty hit-or-miss record with these spin-offs: I enjoyed Torneko Mystery Dungeon and its sequel (even though I was never very good at them), and Rocket Slime on the DS was a lot of fun, but I gave up on the Dragon Quest Monsters games pretty quickly (not really into Pokemon-type stuff), and I tried to like both Builders games but ended up getting bored both times. So this one is a big ol' “maybe” for me.
Are there also legal rights preventing the inclusion of Jr. Pac-Man? I mean, there's no point in blaming anyone, but I'm just not interested in such an incomplete collection.
I like those 3ds and Wii U Nintendo Selects boxes. They look classy to me. As other have noted, though, those green Playstation greatest-hits boxes were hideous.
"It's continued this run on Switch, with a varied mix of titles but a particularly heavy focus on RPGs, which is undoubtedly welcome for fans of the genre."
I dunno...I'm not sure I'd say "undoubtedly." Or "welcome."
Probably worth playing, but it felt tonally very strange to me. There's one part near the beginning where the story gets incredibly dark, and then that's not even really acknowledged in any way. King of the Monsters is a pretty fun game, albeit shallow. The sequel, which is more like a standard brawler, is even better. Both of them will leave you with brutal thumb blisters and possibly destroyed controllers, however.

Dude gets PAID for writing banal conventional wisdom like this? Nice work if you can get it, I guess.
Re: 'Tetris Forever' Adds Curious Sequel 'Welltris' Via A Free Update
I remember playing Welltris on my parents' old Mac back in the day. I don't think it's a great game, but an interesting diversion.

Serious question: are you required to post a certain number of articles a day/week?

Re: 3DS Tactical Adventure 'Fragrant Story' Releasing Free DLC Expansion Before eShop Closure
It's silly, but if it's free, why the hell not? Fragrant Story could've been a fun game, if it had been more than six seconds long.
