I'm eager to try Suikoden (though I'll admit it unfortunately doesn't look so good) and The Legend of Heroes for the first time. Same with Yakuza. Hyped for the return of Power Stone as well. From the Indie World, I think only Neva really caught my eye. Overall a 7/10

I used to play it in a friend's house, the only person I've ever known who owned a Dreamcast. I'm so eager to play it again and see if it recaptures the feeling.
I'll have to refrain from buying this one. Tried some over at my friends and I can barely just beat the first boss. Funnily I was able to go a lot farther in Hollow Knight. Guess I'm getting even worse with age and the constant fear of failure
This review is HIGHLY exaggerated. The visuals of the game are mediocre at best, at least on the Switch, and things clip through each other all the time. The story and the music are nice, but the humor is not even close to being what you said. It's fun, sometimes kinda funny but that's it. Gameplay is nice but gets repetitive after a while, as does the music and themes of the game. I unfortunately think I went with a too high expectation because of this review and was somewhat disappointed. It's not a bad game by any means, but it's a 7/10 or 8/10 at best.
I'm finally playing it and I love Earth Born. However, the game is simply BORING. The pacing in the starting section has really put me off. I dunno if I'll keep on playing because the dungeons are boring, the humor is lackluster and the story is quite frankly not very interesting to keep me engaged through the "slug"fest that is the abysmal pacing
@Tyranexx Actually, I just started Ys Origin earlier after I saw your comment. Perhaps Ys VIII was a better entry point, but I dunno, Origin seemed more fitting to me. I am enjoying it, the gameplay is very tight.
I didn't read the whole thread, I'll take a look.
And Xenoblade is also my favorite ARPG series! Not only that, it's my favorite video-game franchise. It's nice to hear from a fellow fan, haha
@Tyranexx thanks for the very info-packed answer. I was kinda just joking, as I myself am not a connoisseur of both series to really make a hard claim about them, but it's nice to know I can easily get into Ys, at least, with relatively low difficulty. I was looking for info on this the other day and found just the site you recommended. I'll definitely give it a try! Thanks!
Another series that's impossible to get into, such as Ys. I always think of the conspiracy guy meme when I talk to people about them or check "where to start" guides
I don't get why people aren't talking about Schim, it looks AMAZING. One of the absolute highlights of the Direct for me, probably along Europa and TMNT
Edit: forgot about Little Kitty, definitely picking that up
@SpaceboyScreams well, you're not a movie director. But I don't want necessarily for him to direct it, I just meant he may be emotionally involved enough to put some extra effort
I played the demo and found it absolutely soulless. Peach plays, looks and feels like a robot. I'm really surprised this is getting good reviews, honestly from what I've seen first hand I don't feel like playing it at all
@Ooyah completely agree with you there on Balatro. I've been playing for a couple of hours for the last few days and it's fun and looks good, which is more than I can say for 90% of the games I've played, but I really think it lacks something more. A story, something about the joker that keeps teasing you and explores that kinda eerie aura the game has, I dunno, but something is missing for it to be a true great game IMO
Just finished the demo for Princess Peach: Showtime, but didn't like it, to be honest. Kinda clunky and soulless gameplay. Peach looks and feels like a robot, a far cry from what Nintendo attained with, say, Mario Odyssey
Honestly, I don't see how this is a 10/10. I have played it for some hours and yes, its idea is great and it's marvelously executed, BUT it's not really different in its presentation and it doesn't have that "flair", that extra flavor, that games such as Dicey Dungeons and Slay the Spire have. Maybe 8.5 or 9/10.
I absolutely hate the fact that they didn't show any gameplay at all. On the other hand, it would probably come with Game Freak's recent quality standards, so maybe that was a good thing. I hope one year in the oven is sufficient to make it significantly better. Not excited, tho.

Re: Review: Crypt Custodian (Switch) - A Charismatic Kitty Cleans Up In This Metroidvania
Seems like it will be too hard for me like 50% of all games existing on planet Earth

Re: Nintendo Life's Switch Summer Survey 2024
The game I want for Switch 2's launch is Metaphor Re:Fantazio. I'd buy it day one if it was a launch title
Re: Nintendo Direct Partner Showcase & Indie World Announced For Tomorrow, August 27th 2024
I was under the impression that we'd JUST gotten an Indie World, the one with Schim and such, guess my time perception is kinda off

@RojoDelMal lmao true, it was, amazingly, one of the highlights of the trailer for me

@Retrohero good god, I didn't know that. Thanks for the info, it sure is relevant to me when deciding which games to buy
Re: The Pokémon Games Have Had Tremendous Success During The Switch Generation
This is just sad. How will they improve the mfing games if people keep buying them as broken and mediocre as they are?
Re: Review: Braid: Anniversary Edition (Switch) - Exquisite Commentary Elevates This Indie All-Timer
@Retrohero why is he a horrible person? And what's messed up about his worldview?
Re: Review: Braid: Anniversary Edition (Switch) - Exquisite Commentary Elevates This Indie All-Timer
@MirrorFate2 why? I honestly don't remember it and also haven't read the article lmao

Re: Review: Tales Of Kenzera: ZAU (Switch) - An Emotional Metroidvania That Plays It Too Safe
@Captain_Toad I frankly don't know what you're talking about, can you please give me a summary or something like that?
Re: Review: Tales Of Kenzera: ZAU (Switch) - An Emotional Metroidvania That Plays It Too Safe
Honestly, I'm not considering buying this game based on its name alone. This has got to be one of the worst game names I've ever seen in my life
Re: Atari And WayForward Join Forces For A New 'Yars' Metroidvania
@Krambo42 well, to each their own
Re: Atari And WayForward Join Forces For A New 'Yars' Metroidvania
@Krambo42 why?

Tbh I really like WayForward but this looked really rough, bad animation and all

I'd suggest watching Zeltik's video on that subject

@SpaceboyScreams he's a huge Zelda fan tho
Re: Best Nintendo Switch Metroidvania Games
I've really tried Monster Boy but can't for the love of me get into it. It just feels so... Lame, I dunno really how to describe it
