Re: Poll: Have You Ever Had Problems With Nintendo Hardware?

ennan

I own each of these systems, often multiples of the handhelds, the recent Muni's and a virtual boy and the only time I've had an issue was with my joycon. Clearly an outlier though given that every other system/controller I have works fine despite some having had decades of use.

Re: Nintendo Releases Statement About Switch Joy-Con Drift Issue

ennan

I own at least one iteration of every Nintendo console and a plethora of accessories and the only one that has ever had to have a repair is my Switch's Joy Con. One had to be sent in as the analogue had failed so completely that it freely rotated in it's socket. Not long after getting it back the other Joy Con from the set developed drift which I've been fixing with contact cleaner. My pro controller's D-pad is also fiddly, often registering the wrong input, which for games like Tetris 99 makes it effectively useless. It's disappointing to see Nintendo have these kind of problems given their great history of solid workmanship but I understand that these things happen with every brand at some point but the thing that really bothers me is the total lack of response from them until now and that response is lackluster to say the least. It's a shame too because in pretty much every other respect they are absolutely killing it right now.

Re: Nintendo "Spending A Lot Of Time" Considering YouTube Livestream Monetisation

@Chandlero The hate comes from the fact that the creator puts all the time and effort into making content and Nintendo strips most of the cash and restricts what they're allowed to cover.
If you put time and effort into writing a script, capturing and editing a video, perhaps overlaying graphics etc and Nintendo come and take most of the cash away then yes they have the right to be pissed. It's hours of work for very little reward - essentially a Nintendo tax. At the end of the day it's free advertising for Nintendo and this backwards approach puts many people off covering their games. As someone who works in visual media I totally understand the frustration.

Re: Taiwanese Report Suggests Nintendo Expects To Hit 20 Million Switch Sales In Year One

Too early to say for sure but if they come out of E3 with guns blazing then it's certainly possible. The concept of the Switch coupled with Zelda has sold me and at least 1.5 million other early adopters but games will sell the system long term. If they can keep the momentum going and support it with a decent advertising campaign (Switch adverts are everywhere right now!) then I don't see how they can fail.

Re: UK Retailer GAME Is Cancelling Nintendo Switch Preorders Days Before Launch

ennan

The dude at my local Game sent me a text today to say that my Switch was in but that if I didn't pay for it within 48 hours after launch it would be allocated to someone else. I marched straight there and handed over a wad of cash. It's all bagged up with my name on it so I'm safe.
Apparently they're completely sold out of Zelda. Some folks have preordered the Switch but no games so they may be disappointed on launch day. Demand is high!
Also I got to hold the Switch for a bit - it's really light and that neon red joy-con is really, really neon!

Re: The Legend of Zelda: Breath Of The Wild Will Not Feature HD Rumble

Whereas Twilight Princess had it's map mirrored and motion controls added for the Wii version over the GameCube version...
It's not a huge deal but I would have liked to have had a taste of HD rumble in BotW - nothing over the top, just a few different sensations as I'm curious in the tech and 1,2 Switch is priced just a little too high for me right now (I just became a father and I have to be a lot more selective in my purchases these days.)
