@sanderev there's some potential reasons for increasing the display. Depending on suppliers it could be cheaper getting a 1080 panel since they are in higher demand and a newer panel may be more energy efficient than an older 720 one so it might make more sense to change it even though in real terms your eye won't see much of a difference
@Glassneedles No invert. I'm very disappointed - I was looking forward to this so much but haven't even made it through the first level. I can't rewire my brain after decades of reinforcement. Hopefully they'll patch it in.
I own each of these systems, often multiples of the handhelds, the recent Muni's and a virtual boy and the only time I've had an issue was with my joycon. Clearly an outlier though given that every other system/controller I have works fine despite some having had decades of use.
Took them long enough but at least they gave the correct response. Of course a permanent fix would be even better but until they figure that out this is the best course of action.
I own at least one iteration of every Nintendo console and a plethora of accessories and the only one that has ever had to have a repair is my Switch's Joy Con. One had to be sent in as the analogue had failed so completely that it freely rotated in it's socket. Not long after getting it back the other Joy Con from the set developed drift which I've been fixing with contact cleaner. My pro controller's D-pad is also fiddly, often registering the wrong input, which for games like Tetris 99 makes it effectively useless. It's disappointing to see Nintendo have these kind of problems given their great history of solid workmanship but I understand that these things happen with every brand at some point but the thing that really bothers me is the total lack of response from them until now and that response is lackluster to say the least. It's a shame too because in pretty much every other respect they are absolutely killing it right now.
@Rpg-lover If you have JoyCon drift try using contact cleaner - fixed mine in less than a second. Might work for you and it's way cheaper than getting it repaired (and way less Hassel than repairing it yourself) and way cheaper than replacing. I agree though the issue needs addressed.
He's right. When I received my Game Boy I got Metroid 2 and Tetris. I played Metroid 2 loads but my mum got hooked on Tetris. It's the only game she ever really played with the possible exception of Wii Sports bowling and that came nowhere close to the hours she ploughed into Tetris.
I'll most likely pick one up. The GameCube controller is still my favourite controller of all time. Shame it doesn't have a rechargeable battery, HD rumble or NFC but hey-ho. Perhaps the world just isn't ready for that level of perfection?
Personally I don't think Nintendo were being nefarious here. I reckon the specific features of the switch demanded that non compliant changes were made and this is just an unexpected and unfortunate result.
Never really got into mobile games. Gave a few a shot but the lack of physical inputs doesn't really work for me. I think the best game I've played on mobile was Horn - I really got into that. Generally though mobile isn't for me.
What boggles my brain-bumps is that you can have games like Zelda and Doom running just fine on the Switch. How did this turn out so bad!?! I hope they get their patch through and more importantly that it actually fixes the game. If it does I'll pick it up because it looks like something I would enjoy if it was functional.
Actually gidddy with excitement. This looks like so much fun and I'm sure my son and I will really enjoy this. So unexpected, so crazy, so Nintendo! Love it!
I loved the shrine concept and it totally works for the game. I also love the divine beasts but I would have liked a couple of traditional dungeons too. Maybe for the next game they could have a mix - perhaps three huuuuuuge themed dungeons in order to get the master sword or something and shrines for hearts/stamina again?
I'm kinda sad, though it makes sense that they'd want to focus on the next game. I can't help but feel there's so much more potential waiting in BotW though and I personally would have welcomed some extra content. Oh well - hopefully the next game will come sooner rather than later.
@Chandlero The hate comes from the fact that the creator puts all the time and effort into making content and Nintendo strips most of the cash and restricts what they're allowed to cover. If you put time and effort into writing a script, capturing and editing a video, perhaps overlaying graphics etc and Nintendo come and take most of the cash away then yes they have the right to be pissed. It's hours of work for very little reward - essentially a Nintendo tax. At the end of the day it's free advertising for Nintendo and this backwards approach puts many people off covering their games. As someone who works in visual media I totally understand the frustration.
I'd welcome new software for my virtual boy. I do love the thing despite it's many, many flaws. If other people are passionate enough to develop for it I'll certainly play their games.
Love my Switch. Solid start to the system - each month there's something new to play and that trend looks set to continue throughout the year. Plenty to look forward to. I mostly use mine docked but appreciate the ability to take it anywhere - certainly makes long weekends at the mother-in-laws a lot more tolerable...
I preordered the day they went live in the UK. I did it in store and everyone ahead of my in the queue was there to preorder one (there were many people ahead of me) I have an awful feeling that despite paying my £50 I'm going to get disappointed. I hope that's not the case but I've been burned so many times lately with Nintendo products just not having the supply.
It wasn't the greatest E3 from Nintendo but it was bloody good. Mario earlier than I was expecting which was nice. It also looks crazy fun. Looking forward to Xenoblade 2, Yoshi, Kirby etc - I don't think they showed any bad or disappointing games. But for me the highlight was that Metroid reveal... Can't wait.
I spend most of the time playing it on the TV because I don't spend much time out and about unless I'm at work. When I go visit the mother in law I've always got my Switch to save me from her typical Netflix/Rom-com combo.
Too early to say for sure but if they come out of E3 with guns blazing then it's certainly possible. The concept of the Switch coupled with Zelda has sold me and at least 1.5 million other early adopters but games will sell the system long term. If they can keep the momentum going and support it with a decent advertising campaign (Switch adverts are everywhere right now!) then I don't see how they can fail.
I've not had Zelda freeze on me. Occasional frame rate dips but nothing that really bothered me or impacted gameplay which is why when I saw videos of people experiencing these sudden freezes I was puzzled. Maybe this is it...
The dude at my local Game sent me a text today to say that my Switch was in but that if I didn't pay for it within 48 hours after launch it would be allocated to someone else. I marched straight there and handed over a wad of cash. It's all bagged up with my name on it so I'm safe. Apparently they're completely sold out of Zelda. Some folks have preordered the Switch but no games so they may be disappointed on launch day. Demand is high! Also I got to hold the Switch for a bit - it's really light and that neon red joy-con is really, really neon!
Whereas Twilight Princess had it's map mirrored and motion controls added for the Wii version over the GameCube version... It's not a huge deal but I would have liked to have had a taste of HD rumble in BotW - nothing over the top, just a few different sensations as I'm curious in the tech and 1,2 Switch is priced just a little too high for me right now (I just became a father and I have to be a lot more selective in my purchases these days.)
Totally agree - I'm interested in the game but at that price point I'll certainly pass. Maybe if it was around the £15-20 Mark I might consider picking it up. If it was a pack in I'd be very happy and would show it off to everyone I know. If I were them I'd pack it with the console. I can't see them making much from it at full price.
Pre-order in store is £50. I ordered one just because I'd like to increase my chance of getting one on launch day. I refuse to order through their site due to issues in the past but I've never had a problem in store.
I really want sonic 3 and Knuckles for my 3DS... Recently picked up the 3D versions of 1 and 2 - would love to complete the set. I was hoping this would have the whole trilogy... I still may pick it up though.
Reworked vitality sensor perhaps? The technology was pretty cumbersome back in the day. Maybe this is the time for it? I remember the idea of a horror game reacting to an increase in heart rate which I found pretty interesting... Could see a Wii Fit type application using it too.

Torn on this. Compilations are great - more games the better as it says above but having certain titles tweaked would also be welcome.

@Bydlak oh man, that's rough. I'll keep that in mind.
Re: Poll: Have Your Joy-Con Been Drifting?
Oh and I had stick kinda pop out it's socket so it was extremely loose and didn't work at all. Got a warranty repair so not all bad.
Re: Poll: Have Your Joy-Con Been Drifting?
Mines was drifting constantly until I used contact cleaner which cleared it up instantly but I fear it's just temporary.
