@sinalefa Glad you liked it and I'm sure it didn't take itself too seriously - that's pretty much a Platinum hallmark. There are things I wish I could like which ruin so many games for me - superheroes, sci-fi, guns - but I don't and that's OK. There are plenty of things I like that others don't and I shouldn't really expect to enjoy every game should I? Not even every game from one studio.
The superhero thing in W101 was a massive obstacle to my enjoyment of that game. So much so that after the demo I gave up any ideas of buying it (pre-release I'd veered from scepticism to enthusiasm). MadWorld was simply brilliant though and Bayonetta 2 was a main reason behind my decision to buy the console all the way back in 2012.
Does anyone know if there's a time limit on the Bayonetta offer? I'll be getting both games but I won't be playing them this week, so...
For anyone in the UK interested in buying the games digitally, the cheapest way that I know of right now is to buy B2 from the game.co.uk website. They currently have download codes for £32.99 (the same price they're charging for the disc version). Knowing how eshop purchases have worked in the past this should still activate the Bayonetta discount.
Now if only we could get eshop cards (or other credit) with the otherwise useless star points, like we still can for the Wii and DS. How long has it been now?
@AlexOlney As others have pointed out, I think you mean 'It's safe to say that Nintendo's Wii U hasn't been universally acclaimed by gamers and developers alike, but then again what console has?' As in 'what console has been universally acclaimed?'
Sorry, I don't mean to be a pedant and I know I can get annoyed when people correct my grammar but I think you'll agree that you lost track of the subject in that sentence. To claim otherwise is absurd, just own up and correct it.
I have no children and no interest in buying toys. (Yes, I know some adults will buy them for themselves, I'm not judging them). My concern then, is whether these figurines will give an advantage to someone playing the game that gives them a fuller experience. If so, I might just start to stay away from Nintendo games. (Someone must want a Wii U, right? Wouldn't hurt to bring some money into the house for something.)
I loved Micro Machines but that was what, twenty years ago? So maybe my memories are rose tinted. I can't remember what the handling was like in that but I don't recall it being like what's described here.
Weird. As others have pointed out, the technologies described in this article don't match the Wii/WiiU but do sound similar to those in rival products. Meanwhile, the Wii launched in 2007 and they're doing this in 2014?
Hardly makes sense for such a big company to do this unless they're pretty sure of themselves so I can't help but wonder if I'm missing something.
So now people who enjoy playing games on normal difficulty are designated as casual gamers? That word already carries so much baggage that I'm surprised studios want to encourage it.
IF this is true, which is a big 'if', it's worth reminding the chattering masses that hardware does not mean the same things as platform. The Wii U and the 3DS are not being retired yet.
Anything that resembles Micro Machines gets my attention. As an almost exclusively single-player game player these days though, I wonder if it has much to offer me.
Best Wii U news I've heard in, probably, more than a year. I remember my brother and I struggling with this game (and enjoying it) for a long time back in the early 90's. I'll definitely pick it up.
Nintendo should release Kirby's Return To Dream Land for Wii U. That game's as rare as anything in the West so most people, myself included, still haven't had a chance to play it.
@TheRavingTimes That's a very good point. I'm not sure I'd say 'casual' but I do see what you're getting at. I'm not really into superheroes or the bizarre Jap-American humour and, coupled with the garish colours, I just didn't enjoy the demo, which is a great shame. I still have high hopes for Bayonetta though.
Some good thoughts here - and I'm speaking as a Wii U owner and not a 3DS owner. Particularly good thoughts on the VC: when Nintendo first announced the discount for owners that transferred their data from their Wii I understood the reasons for still making a small charge - it seemed fair for their input. There was a backlash against it though and, a year on, I find myself reluctant to pay even the small fees required to re-purchase games for the new system. In other words, it's no longer a selling point.
This game alone made me glad to own a Wii U. I don't think I've ever loved a game so much - I played it through four times last year; it's the first time I've ever bought a game soundtrack and it's the first time I've bought a licensed novel. Since my laptop needs replacing now I've gone the high-spec route just so that I have something to play the first game on (even though I'll miss the gamepad, which was put to great use in DS2 on Wii U).
So, as I said in the EU eshop release comments - I'd urge any Wii U owners who don't have this to buy it. Given the comparative price of Wii U retail discs though I can't see many people picking this up digitally at this price and I'm worried that Nordic will use that as a barometer for interest in the IP among Wii U owners. Hopefully they look at original release sales figures, too.
To those asking about DLC, the Wii U version includes most of it, including the 'Argul's Tomb' story/mission DLC. It does not include the final story/mission DLC though, which was never ported.
Actually, none of the titles in 20-11 interest me, and I have Nintendo Land thanks to it being bundled. Not having video-game playing friends somewhat limits its appeal for me, I'd assume.
Wait a minute, Darksiders 2? The news here isn't the price reduction but that Nordic have made it available again after it was removed during the final days of THQ.
In all honesty, this is my favourite game on the Wii U and one of my favourites of all time, too. Anyone who doesn't have this should get it but, as others have pointed out, the disc is available for much less elsewhere.
Nordic recently announced a similarly overpriced 'collection' disc on the other formats, stating that they were using it to gauge demand for DS3. I hope the same doesn't apply to this.
As a Brit it's hardly a surprise I prefer the British version. I actually saw it tonight during the Arsenal v Bayern match: it's the first time I've seen a Wii U advert on TV.
@Shadowkiller97 Well written. This game shutting off the gamepad screen during regular play is being used as a stick to beat the Wii U with right now and yet this time last year, when developers were publicly using it as an excuse not to develop for the Wii U message boards here were filled with 'just turn the screen off and use it as a regular controller' comments. The first game I played on my U was Trine 2, which is a great game, but I immediately found the screen mirroring distracting.
After eagerly awaiting this as a "day one" title this time last year, I actually only downloaded it last week. I've just completed the main campaign and had every bit as much fun as I could wish for - I've remembered why I was looking forward to it so much.
I wonder if others have a similar story after the release debacle?
As a Wii U owner (not a 3DS owner), I wasn't at all excited or impressed by that. Granted, the streaming issues didn't help - and they need to look into that for future broadcasts - but it didn't really tell me anything I didn't already know. OK, there was another NES remix, which shows Nintendo are pretty much desperate to get anything out for the Wii U right now, but that was it.
A broadcast like that should be a monthly, predictable, affair, not something following a two month silence. The 24 hour notice thing worked well to build hype when these first started but now it's just tiresome. I honestly didn't expect much from this, so I wasn't disappointed, but I think in future Nintendo should schedule a regular date for these and then maybe pull the 24 hour trick to hype something exceptional.
