Hardly surprising that it's on it's way. It's not like any major hardware companies make products just for Canada. That said, they did the various "colour" bundles last year and new Wiis sell for as little as £50 (the most expensive, blue, bundle with Mario Kart will set you back £99) and secondhand for £10-£30 (I looked at flogging mine when I bought a Wii U and quickly realised it just wasn't worth it). The surprising thing then, is that they made this at all. Where's the market for it?
Frankly, that sounds bizarre to me. How could a company fail to realise that they hadn't localised a game until just a day or two before it was due to ship?
The power of gaming websites and new platforms like MiiVerse do enable people to express displeasure as never before towards video game companies and it would be strange if they weren't aware of that. It's a little too early to call a sea-change though.
A 3/10 is pretty damning and enough to put me off the game. That said, the only reasons I can see given for the score are a dodgy camera (which surely can't be as bad as that in the much higher rated Darksiders 2) and the fact that it's similar to the previous game. Leaving aside the fact that many Wii U owners will not have played the previous title, a game should be judged on its own merits not on its developments over previous titles. If that were the case then Mario Galaxy 2 should have scored 2/10.
RPG's have never really appealed to me. So, while the more games the better, in terms of providing consumer choice, I'd hope for a little more than that if I'm to continue to enjoy my Wii U for the next six years.
I guess it depends on the context of the interview but I find it odd that this is news. There again, what do I know about how a big publisher manages its first party studios?
Can't argue with that, seems like an honest response. Far better than delaying the game to port it if that's the alternative or spouting rubbish about not being sure what to do with the gamepad.
"Once a system has been sold or traded in, and the system is no longer in possession of the original owner, the downloadable content cannot be recovered."
No, but if it has been sold or traded in then anyone else who buys it has access to that content if it hasn't been deleted. Do Nintendo really not see that potentially this approach costs them as many sales as it saves?
"We're concerned about the install base for 6-11 year-olds."
Yep, Because that's the exact demographic Nintendo was targeting at this launch. How could a system flouting Zombi U and NG3: Razor's Edge as exclusive launch titles, added content versions of Tekken, Arkham and AC3, together with day one COD possibly fail to attract 6-11 year olds?
Of all the bad news stories, I think we can most safely ignore this one.
Why would Crytek publish it? They employed several former Vigil staff, they didn't buy the studio or any of its IPs. This seems like a bit of a non-news story to me.
If a hardware manufacturer owns a game developer they are first party. If a non-hardware manufacturing games publisher owns a game developer they are third party. If a game developer is independently owned but have their games published by someone else they are a second party developer. Hope that makes sense.
@MrSRArter
Mass Effect is a Bioware IP. That made it exclusive to Microsoft while they owned Bioware but EA bought the IP with the developer, thus allowing them to release it on different platforms. This is a completely different situation with Platinum working as a second-party developer.
To sum up:
Bioware were a first-party studio that became third-party and took some of their IP with them. (For a Nintendo example see Rare and Banjo Kazooie).
Platinum are an independent studio that has their projects funded by external publishers, in this case Nintendo. Second-party developers can make deals to see their IPs end up with various publishers (as evidenced with Bayonetta) but the publisher who funded the work will have ultimate control over where a specific game is published. In other words, Nintendo own Bayonetta 2 but they do not own the rights to other Bayonetta games.
And to think, just yesterday Ubisoft were telling us how great the console is.
I really enjoyed the demo and was going to buy it day one. Now? I may not get it at all, there'll be a lot more competition then. I guess at least my bank manager will be happy.
I'm enjoying this and I hope others do too. Preferably supporting the Wii U and developing the support for the platform but that's just me being selfish. The developers and publishers deserve to make what they can out of the property. As for publishers, I'll be interested to see how they square this with Nintendo if they want to bring out on the other platforms over here.
@ThomasBW84 I appreciate that you tried to stress some positives but the thing is that they've all been stressed so many times that they're losing meaning. I guess I'm just jaded by the continual Wii U graphics stories.
First, let me say I have no interest in shooting games, first person or any other kind. Second, I fully agree that graphics do not make the game.
Finally, I am so very, very tired of these negative articles comparing Wii U's power (and now projected future support!) to hypothetical other systems. Give it a year, give it two years, then we can say something about it. For now, why encourage everyone to beat themselves up about something that's both unimportant and unknown?
@cspell That's a good point regards families and handhelds. I remember my brother and I had a Game Gear each and my parents would usually buy games expecting us to share them.

Re: First Impressions: LEGO City Undercover
@LuigiMan200
Certainly looks like it.
Re: Review: Ben 10: Omniverse (Wii U)
That's what this is? I assumed from the title it was some kind of low-budget minigame collection! Oh well...
EDIT: "In case you aren't familiar with the Cartoon Network show, " Ah, OK, no, I wasn't.
Re: First Impressions: LEGO City Undercover
With Darksiders 2 almost finished now, I'll be looking closely at reviews of this and Monster Hunter in the next few weeks.
Re: LinkedIn Profile Suggests That Splinter Cell: Blacklist Is Stalking Towards Wii U
Rayman aside, Ubisoft have long been the third party producing the most for Nintendo platforms.
Re: Ubisoft Still Undecided On How To Use The Wii U GamePad In Watch_Dogs
Can you say "dodgy port"?
In all seriousness, it seems a bit late in the day to pronounce something like this. It's been in development for how long?

Re: Side-Scrolling Fighter Dusty Raging Fist Is Punching Its Way To The Wii U eShop This Year
Well that's exciting news. Even if this is just an average game I'll likely be downloading it.
Re: Ubisoft CEO Not Satisfied With Wii U Sales
"Other generations"? That made me chuckle. Who did this translation?
Re: Rumour: Scribblenauts Unlimited UK Recall Due To Lack Of UK English

Re: Future Wii U Need For Speed Titles Will Ship On The Same Day As Other Platforms
Presumably just so long as sales figures are OK.
Re: Watch Dogs Confirmed For Release On Wii U
So this is a vigilante sim? I've been wondering what it was...
I actually expect us to begin to see more third party announcements now that the other consoles are getting announced for this generation.

Coincidence? Time will tell.

A nice article, all the same.
Re: Nintendo Download: 21st February 2013 (Europe)
A good week for the Wii U eShop.
Re: GameStop Lists Watch Dogs Wii U For Preorder
Well, if the gameplay's anything like Hitman then I'll give it a look; the concept doesn't really appeal though.
Re: Rayman Legends Challenge Mode Coming Exclusively To Wii U This April
That's a big effort to keep Wii U owners happy from the developers after the publishers angered us.
Re: Rumour: Aliens: Colonial Marines Tester Says Wii U Version Is "The Worst"
So the Wii U isn't a console now?
Re: UK Retailers Call For Wii U Price Cut And Fresh Approach From Nintendo
Maybe UK games retailers should try giving the system its own section instead of throwing it under the big "Wii" sign. Just a thought.

The PS360 versions of Razor's Edge will have extra costumes and levels not included in the Wii U version.

I hope this isn't the title Activision expected to sell "in the millions"....

I don't think I've ever agreed with everything you have to say before.
Re: Tiger Woods Is Skipping The Wii U This Year
Not anything I'm interested in but that's still a bit of a kick in the balls for Nintendo.

Re: Wii U To Get An "Exclusive" Rayman Legends Demo Soon
I'd be interested to see how many downloads this gets compared to the first one. That might tell Ubisoft something.

Well, that's odd.

What Sean_Aaron said.

How will getting a refund help Nintendo and the Wii U?
Re: Super Mario Busters Ain't Afraid of no Ghost

Re: Ubisoft Studio Boss: People "Need to Experience" Wii U to Understand It
Communication does seem to be a problem for Nintendo right now. Long may they continue to enjoy Ubisoft's support though.

Really on the fence about this one. All the trailers look great but the GTA comparisons put me off.
