Re: Nintendo Versions Of Mutant Mudds Have Sold Better Than Those On Other Systems

cornishlee

@micronean It's a good point which always leaves me divided between systems - as a fan of platformers and third person action and adventure games (brawlers not shooters) no one system quite delivers the games I want. I can say that my favourite retail games on the Wii U have been third party releases so far (go figure) - Darksiders 2, which I've now played through countless times (I really do love that game) and Rayman Legends, which I only downloaded this week, almost a full year after being excited and ready to buy it at launch.

Publishers really should learn to look at the quality as well as the size of a userbase if they don't already.

"that time suggests that the company aims to reach more people, rather than the standard broadcast at around 10am Eastern."

Or more people in the US at least. Those times in Europe are not good. I suspect most people will be checking the news after they get to work the following day. I understand that simultaneous global scheduling is difficult but this seems terrible to me.

As others have pointed out, the Viurtual Console is something that Nintendo should really be pushing on Wii U at the moment. Sure, they probably don't want it to get a reputation as simply being a machine for old games but it would at least demonstrate that they're constantly expanding the catalogue. Three or four a week wouldn't seem like too much.

Who knows how long it will last for but Wii Fit U has been a big help for me regaining fitness over the last month. A foot injury in the summer left me hobbling for months. Gentle exercise on the Wii (including running - basically bouncing on your toes when you're doing it on the spot) helped me to strengthen those muscles without impact/stress on the damaged foot as well as build up fitness. I've now returned to running outside and I'm going twice as far as I ever managed before Wii Fit U.

@DESS-M-8 Yes.

@Cyberbotv2 You're probably burning more calories because you're bigger and heavier (just a guess!). Newton's Law.

Haha! Thanks for the video link... I've worked the luge into my regular routine the last three days but a) couldn't get the hang of the arm-swinging thing (I was rocking backwards and forwards too) and b) I somehow never noticed that I was allowed to hold the edges of the board. Having been working out like that though, I think I'll continue to punish my abs and keep my arms folded in front of me.

Enjoying Wii Fit U a lot. Never thought this would be the game in which they'd finally implement the much discussed two-wiimote control system. Having done that though I'm even more amazed that it's not an option for the boxing.

The only thing stopping me saying 'urgh', 'who is this guy?' and 'why does he think that's funny' is the knowledge that the adverts aren't aimed at me but at people from a different culture. I seem to remember a lot of those comments whenever UK adverts are featured here (especially the Rufus Hound ones for some reason). Take note people.

@Senario
Yes, I understand that Nintendo wanted to give third parties room to sell software and, despite lacking exclusives, the line-up was pretty good. I've played Darksiders 2 and NG3:RE several times. What Nintendo could, and should, have done, however, is back up the launch with marketing. That was where they failed to deliver and left those publishers which supported them at release floundering. If I was one of those third-parties I'd have scaled back my support too.

@Senario
Obviously most of the games available at launch were third party, which I think is the point you were trying to make and the one which I alluded to in my first post. My point is though that it was an almighty mess-up that's lost them a lot of goodwill from publishers and consumers alike. The soft launch hasn't done them any favours.
