Re: Pokémon Sword And Shield's Isle of Armor DLC Launches 17th June, Here's The New Trailer

clvr

@WreckitRyan ah I see, thanks! lol
No need to apologize, by the way! 😊

Edit: wow, they still haven't changed it! My god is this site awful. Why is @ryancraddock still in charge of anything?
Yesterday he put out that one with no research at all, and today he didn't even bother to post the Hidden Abilities in the PokéBank starters article, and I had to do that in the comments section.
I mean, if you're gonna half-ass stuff, don't even bother in the first place.

Re: The Pokémon Company Just Recorded Its Second Best Year In History

clvr

Not that I had faith in Game Freak before, but this is pretty much kills any hope of them renewing the formula in any significant way.
And that's double the shame, seeing the success Mario and (especially) Zelda got by reinventing themselves.

Even COD has more variation and effort put into it these days.

Re: Catherine: Full Body Will Get A Demo On Switch, File Size And Other Details Revealed

clvr

@Ralizah wow, that's gotta be one of the best comments I've ever read.

Point 1 really encapsulates internet confrontation in a nutshell: sometimes, as you rightly say, the overly exacerbated tones on the internet spark arguments that might've perhaps never happened during a civil eye-to-eye conversation.
I'm guilty of that myself, of course: when I look back on some of my comments in hindsight I can see some degree of "overreactiveness", if that's even a word.
Because when you see a clear-cut statement written on a random forum (or social media), by who knows who, from who knows where...well, that's when biases have a field day 😅

Re: Catherine: Full Body Will Get A Demo On Switch, File Size And Other Details Revealed

clvr

@Ralizah it's already too late I'm afraid...☹️

"God forbid anyone have a nuanced viewpoint on anything these days."
Totally agree. I hate it that everything on the internet seems to have to be either black or white, especially when politics, gender and such are brought to the table. Which, to be fair, is way too often if the fact that a Nintendo site like this regularly devolves into a dumpster fire is of any indication.

Re: Poll: Splatoon 2's Splatfest Takes Place This Weekend - Are You Siding With Team Mayo Or Team Ketchup?

clvr

@Grot I'd already searched for it before commenting, but that has nothing to do with posting a half-assed article that doesn't even contain the bare minimum information. I mean, if you're going to write an article about a Splatfest it doesn't sound like an excessive request that they tell me when it starts, especially considering that their readership is both European and American. If it were an American site, I'd have no qualms.
It's not about me knowing or not, cause as I've said it took me no time to convert the time, it's just that I seriously despise the complete lack of care and effort that goes into this site; if you can't get the difference, well, you've got pretty low standards and that's on you.

And get off your high horse.
You're complaining about other people complaining, so I don't think you're making the most compelling argument against that.

Re: Nexomon: Extinction Is The Latest Monster-Catcher Hoping To Take On Pokémon

clvr

It looks neat, but I seriously don't understand why all these Pokémon clones are just...well, Pokémon clones.

There's so much untapped potential in this sub-genre, that it's a waste to copy the Pokémon formula wholesale just because it's historically the monster-catching formula. In doing so, they inherit the flaws too, and will never have an identity outside of "that Pokémon clone".

Re: Nintendo Switch Is 'Barely In The Middle' Of Its Life Cycle

clvr

@Slownenberg my point definitely flew over your head.
It's pretty obvious I wasn't asking "what's the point of having revisions?" since I then go on to list all of them; I was asking "what's the point of a more powerful revision?", and then pointed out how every single revision in Nintendo history is exactly NOT that.
Only the New 3DS was slightly more powerful and kept better frame rates on select games, but that's it.

I mean, a Switch Pro might happen, but I just don't see the point if it's just gonna run the same games as the base one.
Not all games are optimized for even the PS4 Pro, imagine how few would take advantage of a Switch Pro. That'd be pretty much Nintendo games only, and even then I wouldn't expect significant upgrades.
So, again, what would be the point in having a more powerful, 1080p Switch if no game is gonna support it?

Re: SNK Deletes "Inappropriate And Offensive" Samurai Shodown Tweets, Offers Apology

clvr

@Averagewriter I don't know how long you've been here, but trust me when I say it was way better a few years ago, and I'm not the only one thinking that.

PushSquare is way better than NL, and has had the opposite trajectory: the authors were very opinionated and defensive, but with time they found their style (which I quite like, and is way more charismatic than the bland fake enthusiasm of NL) and the community grew. Nowadays they still have their issues like everyone but in general it's a blast.
Oh and reviews are actually competent over there, as opposed to here.

Re: SNK Deletes "Inappropriate And Offensive" Samurai Shodown Tweets, Offers Apology

clvr

@Dogorilla agreed, and also glad that the site itself is as classy as ever.
I'm seriously thinking of quitting NL, I'm really tired of non-reporting, copypasted news with zero research, clickbait and articles like this that only exist to stir the pot and cause some ruckus.
I keep coming here only because of the community and because I've been here for like 6 years, but even the community has grown more toxic over the years.
I'm just disheartened because this site has all it would take to be a great one, but it's becoming more and more like a cesspool.

Re: Nintendo Switch Is 'Barely In The Middle' Of Its Life Cycle

clvr

@Slownenberg they're all fair points, but why make a Pro if it just runs the same games?
New 3DS had its exclusives, and so did the DSi: they were a few, but they existed and split the fanbase, if only so much.

What I'm saying is Nintendo usually doesn't do incremental PS4 Pro-style upgrades, they create overhauls in either form factor (DS Lite, DSi XL, 3DS XL, 2DS, Switch Lite), functionality (GBC, DSi, New 3DS), or both (GBA SP, New 2DS).

Re: Nintendo Switch Is 'Barely In The Middle' Of Its Life Cycle

clvr

Well, duh. It's only three years old.
And no, I don't think we'll see a Switch Pro but we'll jump straight into Switch 2 (or whatever) in 2023.
I don't get why people are clamoring for a new iteration this soon, honestly, especially one that could split the fanbase.
And if we do get a Switch Pro, it's only going to prolong the Switch's overall life to 8 or so years.

Re: Switch Online Subscribers Will Soon Get To Play Celeste For Free In Japan

clvr

@Spoony_Tech ooooooohhhh, VVVVVV is amazing!
It's really really hard though, and usually I'm not that into that sort of games, so I can definitely understand why it didn't click with you.
My favorite thing about VVVVVV was the game world and the way it's all interconnected, more than the actual difficulty.
Don't get me wrong, I like challenging games but that's pretty much the same with Dark Souls for example: I put 30 hours in it and loved it, but I hit a brick wall and haven't picked it up again.
And it's a shame because the world design is Dark Souls' strongest asset too, in my opinion.

Re: Nintendo Cracks Down On The Super Mario 64 PC Port

clvr

@Bolt90 exactly, this reminds me of the outcries on Push Square when Nintendo was taking down Dreams creations containing Mario and other IP's.
Everyone was like "this is anti-consumer, Nintendo bad, boo-hoo", as if corporations were charities and weren't out there trying to, you know, make money.

Re: Gamevice's Patent War Against Nintendo Continues, As ITC Moves Forward With Evidentiary Hearing

clvr

@NoNoseNosferatu I do.
Just because a company does something I disagree with doesn't mean I want them to go bankrupt.
There's a lot of people working for any company who are not responsible for said company's policies, and they sure as hell don't deserve to lose their job just because you disagree with their bosses.
Between this and EA (which I despise, by the way), you seem pretty trigger happy, and that's pretty childish.
Just like companies are not your friends, their employees are not your enemies.
