Re: A Look At Minecraft Steve's Smash Ultimate Moveset, Stage And Final Smash

clvr

Wow, the amount of work that's gone into the character and stage really is out of this world!
It's amazing how Sakurai keeps on making characters with the most disparate individual mechanics taken from any genre and makes them work in a fighting game, it just boggles the mind.
I don't even like Minecraft, but this is something you just have to commend.

Re: Monster Hunter Hits Cinemas This December, Here's Your First Look

clvr

@Totakekeke yessss, and not even that covertly.
The US army spends huge amounts of cash on lending props to Hollywood, and it's not like they don't want anything back in return: as you said, there's lots of pro-army propaganda and even entire useless subplots involving these "heroic" soldiers.
It kinda makes me sick to be honest.

Re: Gallery: Minecraft Steve's Alt Costumes And Screenshots

clvr

@Eel yeah it certainly sounds generic to me, being Italian, but for the rest of the world Steve is certainly more plain than Mario.
Also, Mario has a distinctive visual identity everyone can recognize, Steve is just blocks.
Mario has a voice, even though he doesn't properly speak.
Mario has conveyed emotions via animation in many, many different games.
Steve is just plain.
But even apart from that, the fact that I didn't even think of Mario as generic-sounding speaks to the fact that he's so iconic nowadays, that even a generic name makes him pop instantly in one's mind.

@PBandSmelly ahahahahhaha I didn't think of that 😂
Well, at least he's got a cool surname though ahahahah

Re: Minecraft's Steve Revealed As Super Smash Bros. Ultimate's Next DLC Fighter

clvr

Exactly what I hoped wouldn't happen.
Well, glad for those who wanted him.
I'm just hoping for the Doom Slayer now, he's pretty much the only feasible character among those I'd like (Skull Kid...a man can dream).
Travis would also be nice, especially with NMH3 coming out; a SMT rep would be cool as a tie-in for V, but alas we already have a character from a SMT subseries.

Re: Random: Pokémon Fans Are Loving Bump Of Chicken's Nostalgic New Music Video

clvr

@Ralizah if I remember correctly, they stated in an interview that they wanted to call themselves something along the lines of "a blow inflicted by a coward", but, you know...they're Japanese so Engrish is what happens 😂
I believe "sucker punch" is what they were looking for lol

@sikthvash they must be very famous in Japan because I've heard their songs in many anime series, and if it's not them it's Ling Tosite Sigure lol
I really liked Sailing Day, it was used as the outro to the fourth One Piece movie, but that's pretty much the only song of theirs I like.

Edit: BBB was a huge letdown for me, unfortunately.
I loved the world, the urban fantasy, the blood thing, a lot of stuff really.
But the fact that it's pretty much episodic killed my enthusiasm, and I find the few overarching elements to be incredibly undercooked and lackluster.
It's really a shame cause I wanted to love it so much, I even rewatched it when the second season came out (something I never do for series I haven't enjoyed the first time around), but it left such a bitter taste in my mouth I never even bothered with the second season.
Exactly what happened after I watched FLCL Progressive, it killed all the interest I had in Alternative.

Re: A Pokémon Sword And Shield DLC Bundle Hits Stores This November

clvr

@Snatcher so what? Is it Nintendo or GF's fault?
I didn't know they were expected to track every single sale in order to not hurt anyone's fragile feelings.
It's happened to me as well to buy a game and then find out it would've cost less a few days later, what are you gonna do? It is what it is, and certainly it's not the company's fault.

Re: Sonic Co-Creator Says Balan Wonderworld Is His "One Chance" To Make A New 3D Platformer

clvr

I wish Naka all the best, really, but this game looks awful.
The promotional art is very good, but the in-game graphics reek of unpolished shovelware.
I'm surprised people are excited about this, because I think the jank is too apparent.

But then again, I've always had the same impression with A Hat In Time (it looks awful if you ask me), but everyone raves about how cool the gameplay is. Which is obviously what matters, at the end of the day, but usually graphics are a good way of inferring the level of care that went into the game as a whole.

Re: How Well Do You Know Kirby?

clvr

@MarioLover92 I'm Italian, I'm not a Kirby fan, and I knew Power Paintbrush is called Canvas Curse in the US.
I must be some kind of wizard then, I didn't know!

Re: Random: Amazon's Luna Controller Sure Does Look Familiar

clvr

"Where have we seen that design before?"

Literally any controller in the last 20 years, more or less, and more specifically from the XBox 360's onwards.
What a waste of an article, it mist be one of the stupidest things I've seen on this site. Your ability to scrape the barrel for useless articles never ceases to amaze me.

Re: Feature: Every 3D Super Mario Game Ranked

clvr

@carlos82 to be honest I think 3 groups would be best:
3D, 2D and semi-3D, where by semi-3D I mean both the 3D games AND the Galaxy games.
If you think about it the Galaxy games are structurally more similar to 3D Land/World, than 64/Sunshine/Odyssey.

Re: Ori And The Will Of The Wisps Launches On Switch Today

clvr

@georgesdandre exactly.
I'm stoked this game is coming as MS stated in several instances that it was going to stay locked to XBox, but this piece of news will give a lot of people a field day.
There's enough people spreading misinformation purely based on conjecture and opinion as it is, so the fact that MS ended up contradicting themselves will only justify more conjectures based on nothing.

Re: Poll: What's The Best 3D Mario Game?

clvr

It's really hard to say, and I'm looking forward to playing All Stars so that I can form a more balanced opinion on each, versus the impressions I had when I was a kid.

I think 64 will be the best of the sandbox games, and 3D World the best of the more linear ones, including Galaxy 1&2.
If you think about it, Galaxy is more similar to those, than 64, Sunshine and Odyssey, what with the linear obstacle courses and "gimmicks" for each level.
Though to be honest I much prefer the "yonkoma" style of 3D Land/World, with a much tighter focus on one single element and how to make it as good as possible, rather than the somewhat confusing and overwhelming style of Galaxy, which pretty much empties the toybox and goes nuts.

Re: Feature: What's The Deal With Super Mario 64's "Shindou Pak Taiou" Version, Anyway?

clvr

@TG16_IS_BAE I definitely appreciate your round up way more than his previous comments, since they reeked of loathing speedrunning in general.
I'm not a SR fan, to be honest, I don't particularly love it nor hate it, but my opinion is that, if you have a playground to play in, you definitely have the right to try out every tool at your disposal. The glitches are in the game, you can't argue against it, so it can't be bad to actually use them.
I mean, I would get his point if every speedrunner was forced to use glitches, but that's exactly what different categories are for, hence I don't understand the moaning and downplaying of those apeedrunners abilities.
You can speedrun with or without glitches, so what's the point? Just ignore those that use glitches and let people have their fun.

A dear friend of mine in in the top 50 SMB glitch any% category, and seeing him train to shave milliseconds off, it's not like playing with glitches is the cakewalk he makes it out to be.
But yeah, I'm telling you things you already know lol

Re: Feature: What's The Deal With Super Mario 64's "Shindou Pak Taiou" Version, Anyway?

clvr

@TG16_IS_BAE "If you are learning a bunch of silly tricks then say " I beat this game in 5 minutes" when really you just glitched your way through the code to trigger a win sequence that's not beating the game at all."

"Glitches are not part of the game"

"To the normal person that sounds like you ripped your way through the dungeons in some ungodly quick time and it seems impossible. Upon learning "how" you ripped through the game they're not happy to have felt so inferior only to find out someone "cheated". I get it you guys have your own rules, but the clickbaitness of the records just ends up getting to people over time."

"Just online publications trying to piggyback off the shock value of saying someone beat every Zelda dungeon in that time. I'm sure the community itself is very open about their methods. Or interviews that take direct quotes that sound ridiculous like "yes, I was able to beat all the dungeons in x time...." with these methods."

It's pretty clear he's got a bone to pick with the SR scene.
I mean, he even admits to feeling inferior when people beat the games faster than him and states that using glitches is like cheating.
Doesn't sound exactly like an enthusiast to me.
