Re: Paper Mario: The Origami King Leaked Online Ahead Of Next Week's Release

@NambanRonin I can't speak about this one as I've never played it (obviously), but I think the defining trait of great Nintendo games is that they're super fun whether you're a toddler scratching the surface, or a grown man wanting to engage in the more in-depth mechanics πŸ˜ƒ
Games like those, very approachable and accessible, but at the same time as deep as you want them to, are probably the best and the most difficult to pull off, I think!

@LUIGITORNADO while I don't like nor hate these games (I simply have no interest in playing them as I'm not into shmups or hentai), I was wondering the same thing.
It's pretty jarring to see NL advertise these games and then, when it's reviewing time, they get all sanctimonious and score them 3's across the board cause they are "for pervs". They literally degraded fans of these games in several reviews, mind you.

@BulbasaurusRex totally agree! I love football but I absolutely understand why it might not be someone else's liking, just as I can see why many people love basketball even though I don't find it interesting personally.
Btw hockey is a super cool sport!
I know little about it, but I would've liked trying joining a team when I was younger, as it's cool to warch and super fun to play.
Unfortunately my country's not that big on it lol

@FrowningCoach Ahahahah could you be any more pretentious and edgy? πŸ˜‚ I hope you're not older than 12 lol
Look, there's a pretty legible "different strokes for different folks" at the end of my comment, which makes it clear it's my personal opinion and everyone rightly likes different sports for different reasons; if you didn't even reach that point and replied to me as if I heralded myself as the keeper of the absolute truth, well, the joke's on you for acting all grandiose while intentionally missing information. That's a pretty dumb move, if you ask me, since you rusk being ridiculed for replying to stuff you don't have the full context of.
So maybe read what you're gonna reply to beforehand, and get off your high-and-mighty perch.
Peace ✌🏻

Re: Mini Review: Behold The Kickmen - A Gloriously Silly Take On The Beautiful Game

@Shinobi1Kenoby because it's deeper than most other sports from a tactical standpoint, by virtue of having low scores as opposed to basketball or American football.
I for one find these two incredible boring and uninteresting: just because they score more points more often doesn't make it more entertaining to me; on the contrary, it kinda dulls it. Goals are awesome moments of celebration precisely because of their relative scarcity.
Different strokes for different folks.

Re: Ninjala Isn't Really Like Splatoon But We'd Love To Do A Crossover, Says GungHo CEO

clvr

Heh, this game has always looked awful to me in every way.
It's clear that it's a cash-in based on Splatoon's success, and while squids + ink makes sense both from a mechanical gameplay standpoint, and from an "aesthetic" one.
This looks like these guys wanted a Splatoon clone and threw darts to decide what to put in the game.
I mean, ninjas and bubblegum? Why?

@Ricube hey, another fellow compatriot! πŸ˜„

Well, honestly I don't think it's as "ambiguous" in other languages, I don't know where these guys are from but certainly they'll try to avoid this kind of wordplay? πŸ˜…
I can speak English and Spanish (other than Italian, of course), and while I'm sure the former doesn't have this problem, I think Spanish too does not, but I may be wrong.
My English is definitely way better than my Spanish πŸ˜…

@Damo it is crazy indeed! I remember being a little kid when my big brother got me hooked to Helicopter, Banquet, Pioneers, Luno, etc.!
Still their best record, probably, even though I really like A Weekend In The City.
Intimacy is good and I like that they experimented with their sound, but Four was kinda "meh" to me.
To be honest I stopped following them after that, as I also heard that they're basically Kele and the guitarist whose name I cannot remember right now, and that's a shame. I've always loved their drum work in particular, so I was sad to hear the drummer left.

Re: Video: Digital Foundry Delivers Its Verdict On The Switch Version Of BioShock: The Collection

@Damo I appreciate this reply, I really do.
I get very heated in the moment and I apologize for that, as I can see how that paints me as a jerk.
All that I meant, though, is that, at least from my perspective, the bulk of moderation that I see is basically damage control when someone "attacks" the site, more than actually trying to restrain derailing comment sections. But then again, it might just be me.

Re: Video: Digital Foundry Delivers Its Verdict On The Switch Version Of BioShock: The Collection

clvr

@GannonBanned and what does your comment have to do with anything at all? Who's talking about shooters?

I was talking about other past comment sections (like the Catherine: Full Body one, for example), where an article about a videogame becomes a cesspool of people perched on their barricades flinging faeces at each other for reasons that exude the game itself.
If you're gonna reply, at least try to say something relevant.

Re: Video: Digital Foundry Delivers Its Verdict On The Switch Version Of BioShock: The Collection

@Damo there's absolutely no need to appeal to a righteous cause that has nothing to do with what's going on in a fansite's comment section just to make yourself look good.

Also, it's really nice to finally understand NL's priorities in moderating the comments:

-not doing anything when an article about a game devolves into a dumpster fire because people drag politics in them (authors included, in writing some unnecessarily divisive articles), because higher numbers and clicks;

-defending a first-class troll who only ever spouts nonsense left and right and has the pretense of being right without being informed at all.
I've tried being polite the first few times, it's not that I attack people randomly; but seeing as nothing changed, they're getting on my nerves (and not only mine, apparently).

Delete my comment, ban me, do whatever you like.

Re: Review: The Outer Worlds - Obsidian's Fallout-Style RPG Is Worth A Look On Switch

clvr

@mesome713 calling @Dang69 a troll: kettle, pot, black, something like that.
You can't just call everyone you disagree with a troll, especially because you're wrong 99% of the time and people bring actual arguments to the table, and when they do that, you keep banging your empty head against the wall until you stop replying altogether. Many times before you've been told this much and you never even bothered replying.

@everyone else: yes, NL reviews are a waste of time and have been for a very long time. No expertise whatsoever, no in-depth look at the mechanics, no effort.

-Nintendo game: 9-10/10, masterpiece;

-Indie game: 8/10, hidden gem;

-Third party port: 7-8/10, it exists.

I've been playing a game for quite some time now, which is guessing the score a game will get based on its pedigree. Needless to say I get it right 95% of the time, I can't remember the last time I got it wrong. And that's not to boast, it's to underline NL's predictability.
