YouTuber OBE1Plays revealed that the new Assassin's Creed title, rumored to be coming out next year - would be releasing day-one on all three major consoles. This includes the Nintendo Switch.
This is reminiscent of the Wii U generation, as Ubisoft adequately supported the console with many ports that came around the same release as the other consoles (save for Watch Dogs, which released on the Wii U quite a while after other platforms). Also, this lines up with the enthusiasm from Ubisoft that's been resonating around the Switch.
If you question the validity of OBE1Plays, Laura Kate Dale (who's been known for releasing very founded information regarding the Switch) backs him up with her own sources.
As for now, there's been no official word from Nintendo or Ubisoft. Here's to hoping they confirm something around January.

They also leaked the working title of the game. It's called Assassin's Creed Not Prince of Persia.
Edit: In all seriousness pyramids could be fun.
Great news for fans of the series. Now if only the Switch can get some port support from Square Enix on a few choice titles...
Why does Ubisoft all-of-a-sudden seem to live Nintendo so much? If this rumor is true, then that would have to mean other third-party developers are putting their games on the Switch, right? Let's hope.
With the red sun. I thought it was going to be Japan. šš. I'd love to see a ninja assasin.
@Senpai_Bruh All-of-a-sudden? They were the last big-names to abandon WiiU multiplat support, and brought tons of games to the 3DS. Ubi loves Nintendo enough that they held out for so darn long.
This is a return to good relations!
@JTMnM i've heard quite a few SE rumours on Switch as well, including some that would really justify the whole Cloud in Smash thing more than just history and reputation of the character.
@Tsuchinoko Yeah, I agree Cloud's inclusion does suggest some support. I'd love it if FFXV, the FFVII remake, and Kingdom Hearts games could make it over. I'm aware of DQXI making the cut, and that does inspire hope for other SQ titles. If anything, I'm really optimistic about the Switch!
Great news if true, but will all the DLC be made available for Switch as well?
Egyptian AC would actually be quite cool. I'm already bored with the current AC setting although I loved Black Flag and 100%'d it. Even through the awful fps' on Wii U
Is Switch getting the side-scrolling version?
If I tecall I had to wait like a month + for the Wii u version of AC 3 (boy did the gamepad make navigating that crappy central space easy)
Egypt might be cool but I desperately want them to do Japan and ninjas. Pretty sure it's coming after that artwork in either 3 or 4 laid out a bunch of settings that each game since has taken from. I guess by Christmas 2019 the use base of the PS4/Xbone/Switch will be pretty damn huge too.
@JTMnM
Personally I'd rather play FFXV on the switch but for whatever reason FFVII might be a better experience on the PS4
Mmm, never liked Assasin's Creed too much, but might give it a shot again if it comes to Switch, just to support Ubi.
We need more third parties for Switch.
"Fingers crossed for you"
Sounds a bit ominous :/
Ubisoft only ever stopped supporting Nintendo platforms when it was not anymore financially viable for them. Support for the N64 was decent, Tonic Trouble was a good enough game and more importantly Rayman 2 remained a N64 exclusive for months (granted it came out on PC too but on consoles, the N64 was the only one at first). Rayman 3 was a timed exclusive on Gamecube too but only for a week or two I think, at least in North America, but Gamecube support was decent right to the end. Wii support never faltered either, save for games that the Wii simply couldn't run like the first few Assassin's Creed games. But others that posed no problems like Rayman Origins (a 2D game) came out on Wii too, Day 1.
For the record I like OBE1, he usually makes good points in how he sees things. Even when I don't necessarily agree, I like his logical thinking.
Well this is already a more interesting 12 day countdown than I've seen in other places... cough
@Vincent294 - Made me LOL
Assassin's Creed: Look, we're just gonna do more historical settings until we've milked this thing to death.
Assassin's Creed: Forget the bad movie, this is totally different.
Golly, I'm not a fan of this series, but that's some beautiful art at the top of the page.
@whanvee Ubi has been saying for a while that they have been avoiding Japan on purpose...they don't want to make a ninja game.
I am pretty hyped actually. I enjoyed the chronicles games way more than syndicate.
From what I've heard, the Switch version of Assassin's Creed will be the exact same version but will likely run on lower graphical settings. If this turns out to be true I'll be pretty impressed as Assassin's Creed Unity chugged on the PS4 & XB1.
If this AC game 1. exists and is 2. coming to the Switch, then I will definitely be playing it. I'm currently in the middle of ACIV and am loving it so far.
"Enthusiast YouTuber" is an understatement.
Assassins Creed, and Call of Duty both need to be taken off life support already...let these two series die, before we get an awful CoD movie as well.
Edit: Too late

Pity it can't be an Assassin's Creed x Prince of Persia crossover. You could in theory revive the PoP IP if it goes over so well and have another franchise you can milk to death.....again.
No need to click on his link after she sniped him. Tough business you NLers are in, eh?
They should also release the Ezio collection on the switch.
I've bought every Assassins Creed for the last Idk how many years. Ever since ACIII. I'm glad they took a 2 year break (although Ezio Trilogy isn't exactly what I define as "taking a break", even if I am glad it was released). But goodness knows this series needed it.
And now, I'm actually ready for a new one. Certainly moreso than I've been for the last 3 years or so.
@Nin10doh
Life support? Assassins Creed and Call of Duty are still two of the top annual sellers in the industry.
You don't have to like them, but pretending these 2 series are barely hanging on by thread is just living in fantasy land.
@Ryu_Niiyama
I believe they've been making ninja games this whole time. It's just been missing the actual ninjas. Oh well I hadn't heard about that, thank you. I will no longer hold my breath for it.
@whanvee http://www.cinemablend.com/games/Why-Assassin-Creed-Never-Went-Japan-68099.html
well they had that stance back in 2012 or so so maybe they will change someday? If For Honor sells well that may drive them towards a possible AC game in a similar vein. I'd like to revisit China personally.
So I guess don't hold your breath but don't abandon all hope?
But yeah they are Tenchu in another culture mostly.
EDIT: Apparently they have some references to the Japanese Brotherhood so you never know. http://assassinscreed.wikia.com/wiki/Japanese_Assassins
@Angelic_Lapras_King Aww I would pay so much money for a PoP revival. Sands of Time is still the best one (IMO) but I'll take almost anything now.
It took me a bit to realize they meant day one FOR THE GAME, not a day 1 Switch title.
I was so confused like "no way they're releasing the next big Assassin's Creed in March". But it's gonna come out the same day as the other consoles. Ok. So did IV I think? I'm not sure this is a big deal.
Especially since Egypt probably won't have awesome pirate battles.
Egypt would be so awesome for a setting in Assassin's Creed. Travel around in a blimp like the Mummy or travel on camel or horse. Played 3 and Black Flag on Wii U and loved them both so I'm definitely pumped for this if true.
This doesn't excite me at all. Wii U had Assasin's creed, Madden, FIFA (wait did it?). Show me something I HAVEN'T seen on a Nintendo home console in a while or ever. Show me Resident Evil (this one especially given it's past on Gamecube, N64), Grand Theft Auto, Final Fantasy 55 or whatever number they are on. You catch my drift.
But what would be the point of climbing the pyramids? Nothing to do but just slowly climb back down again once you're at the top.
It's always funny how Nintendo Life avoids certain rumors, only to have to reference them later in a out of context manner.
@JaxonH I meant life support as far as story and gameplay. Not monetary wise. The reason these games keep churning out so frequently is solely because of that.
Don't add something to the post I never said. Not sure where you got I didn't like them from. AC 3 and 4 were good in my book, they actually introduced something new to the series. I'd rather see something go out gracefully than become a shell of its former self.
Would be nice I don't mind the AC games all pretty much the same but there are good fun too play.
@gizmoto Wanted to ask this for such a long time, but, the gif you use for your avatar. Who's the guy and where I can see the whole video?
