Most GameCube games were built around the A button being the important. That isn’t as much the case now, so if a game has mapped the jump action to B, it’s going to feel odd playing with these joycon.

Played this at EGX yesterday and unfortunately the graphics were a complete mess. Since looking at some YouTube videos I suspect what I played was an older build, but with all the reviews mentioning frustrating load times and frame stutters in the final product, I’m worried that this is one of those cases where the developer made the least possible effort. The huge file size could be a result of that.

At first I only noticed the hinge section, but that joycon on the right in the side view image looks like the whole outer shell able to curve, so I’m not sure if both those images are related to the same design.

Also, the joycon head is represented differently in both those images. Maybe the left image is designed to work with existing Switch units, and the right is for whole new system.

Downloaded Doom last night, and when asked provided a made up email address. Seems the game can then be played as normal, I’ve done the first 3 levels without having to authenticate the account.

More worryingly, the system isn’t even connected to power or the TV

@Sinton yeah, my official controler that came with the system (UK, late 1994 with Mario Allstars packed in) also never had L and R printed on the buttons.

@waluigifan1 I hope so. There really aren't many multiplayer games on this thing. I remember the throwing ballon game which was fun.

Didn't Yoshi's Island have 2 player mini battles? It's only shown as single player at 7:10 in the video.

It plays a bit like a super simplified version of Smash Bros. Had a lot of fun in 4 player at EGX the other month on this, just the type of thing the Joycon are ideal for. The solo levels now have me very interested in the game.

Is the touch screen disabled when the right joy con is deconnected? Just wondering if this can be played on the switch with no joy con at all?

So, are these all games that did not see an original US release? Why is he using PAL versions of these titles, aren't they going to run slower?

So the controllers are mini too? Think I will prefer the full size NES controllers over these. I'm guessing these are similar to a gameboy micro?

In the Apple event video, it shows game tickets at the top of the level select screen. I wonder how you earn those and what they are for.

Has Nintendo even confirmed they will be at EGX this year, because I have heard nothing yet.

@sleepinglion quite likely, not played that. It's in one of the pokemon stadium games too as a background object I think. It has been referenced many times.

I played this at EGX, it was surprisingly fun, and I would consider it if I had friends round often enough. Don't dismiss it based on appearances.

@ToxieDogg Hey thanks, I will indeed be getting Land 2 and 3. Apparently Japan got the GB Color version of DK Land 3, so hopefully we get the same.

Just hope they fix the music.

Funny that the speaker holes don't match the speaker position so that they are directly above the circle pad.

Also, I would not be surprised if Nintendo added other games to this list that were at E3 like Mario Maker. In 2012 they never mentioned Luigi's Mansion 2 would be there, and it was. And last year Mario Kart 8 was added to the announced lineup at very short notice.

@LetsGoRetro the demos will almost certainly be the E3 versions, so don't read anything into this regarding release dates, or level of completion.

I doubt they will add NFC to regular top up cards because they are more expensive to produce and intended for one use only. Hopefully they make the system compatible with contactless debit and credit cards though.

I hope they bring Mario Kart 8. Multiplayer Nintendo Land last year was great fun with others.

I got about 130 street pass hits in one day at Eurogamer last year. Would have got more if I could clear them out fast enough.

The screenshot above shows a different icon in the top left where the brightness controls should be. It looks like a key, or maybe a spanner. Does this suggest the 2DS will not allow the user to adjust the brightness maybe?

Very cool idea. Nintendo.co.uk has a PDF comparing the 3DS, 3DS XL and 2DS. My only question would be is why have they removed the power saving function? How does this help them reduce production costs?
