Re: Analogue Stick Add-On for 3DS Revealed

b_willers

I'm confused, where does it plug in? I've heard someone mention it uses the IR port, but that would mean that it needs its own battery and it will drain the 3DS further. Another option would be wireless communications or through the game port I guess, neither are ideal.

Re: Current Wii Model to be Discontinued

Good move, anyone buying a wii in the last few years would be unaware of GC support anyway. Also notice that in the image the Wii logo is turned around and there is no stand implying that it can only be laid flat. Unfortunately it makes it look even more similar to a Wii U which will cause much confusion I'm sure.

Re: Nintendo Video Application Live in Europe Right Now

The card trick is rubbish. Still waiting for the other to download, I think they are being a little unrealistic to expect a whole video to download via spot pass. It doesn't seem to want to download anything while playing a game which is a shame. There better be something good on the virtual console this week to make up for this disappointment.

Re: Nintendo Download: 16th June 2011 (Europe)

Wow, did not expect DK so soon, I figured that they were going to go through the back catalogue in order. It would be nice if they used the Super Gameboy version as the cart was programed to display in colour, plus it featured a DK cabinet boarder

Re: Wii U Touch Screen is Resistive, Not Capacitive

You are going to be using your fingers most of the time, so this is a huge disappointment, you need to apply pressure to resistive screens which is a real pain after you have used an iPad. Plus they scratch and bobble overvtime unlike a glass surface.

Re: 3DS eShop Has Officially Opened Its Doors

I'm in the browser now, by the way You Tube does not work. Not very impressed with the shop, feels clunky and restrictive and you have to sit and watch your downloads (not in the background). 3D trailers look ok if a little grainy, and whats with the 2D screen shots?

Re: Ubi: Don't Underestimate Nintendo's Ability to Innovate

GameCube had the first analogue shoulder buttons with a digital click at the bottom. And although wireless controllers had been around for ages I believe the Wavebird was one of the first to use RF rather than IR. If only Nintendo had made this the standard controller I believe the system would have sold much better.

Re: Rumour: Retro Studios Working on Game for Wii Successor

b_willers

Probably a new Donkey Kong, the last one sold well and I'm sure Nintendo want to repeat that on the next console and I can't see it going to another developer when Retro have already invested a lot or resources into it. Hopefully it won't be a 2D platformer, but better than DK64. I would like to think Nintendo have given Starfox to the Sin and Punishment team at Treasure.

Re: 3DS is the Fastest-Selling Nintendo Handheld in Europe, Too

b_willers

Before the launch Nintendo UK had stated that 140,000 of the 185,000 UK machines had been pre ordered. It looks like some of the retailers were telling porkies to try and claim as much stock for them selves. A walk around the high street during the week showed there are units in stock at most retailers so its not quite the start some like myself were expecting. I expect things to change when people actually get to play it, marketing and awareness for this product seem pretty low at the moment.

Re: Tesco Slashes 3DS to Low Low Price of £175

b_willers

This is similar to the Tesco website deal last week, which was buy a 3DS for £197 and get any game for £10. I ordered Pilotwings and the black machine, it came to £207 and I then got another £20 off with staff discount. It came Thursday afternoon which was another nice bonus!

Re: Reggie: We're Not Interested in "Garage Developers"

b_willers

I just think its a little hypocritical for Nintendo to bang on about the quality of the game on other devices when it has little to no interest in the quality of the vast majority of retail games for Wii and DS. Every one I know now regards Wii games as being of poor quality based on their own experiences, unfortunately they have just been playing all the shovelware Nintendo is allowing to be published. It is absolutely right that a company like Nintendo should have systems in place to control the quality of the content that will represent the platform, but to ignore creative ideas just because they haven't come from within the development community?
