@johndevine Yeah Amazon almost always seam to have the best prices, but online discount codes are pretty easy to find for sites like Tesco and Zavvi. I would love to download straight to the system but it will probably be nearly twice as much for the privilege.
My 3DS would often crash in seep mode. Normally the blue power light would blink and it would wake on opening, but on quite a few occasions the light would remain solid blue and it would not come back on. Not noticed this since the update so fingers crossed.
So what resolution is the Wii U outputting when in Virtual Console mode? And do they stretch the image on widescreen TVs and GamePad or display it correctly in 4:3?
Has anyone seen a load time comparison article for different class SD cards on 3DS? Would be interested to see if a class 10 is worth the extra money. Maybe this is an experiment Nintendo Life can conduct for a feature?
For some reason the Wii mode on my my Wii U looks poor on my TV. Like its coming through a composite cable, even though it's HDMI. Also it's letterboxed around all 4 sides of the screen. It's no problem because I was planning to keep my Wii connected anyway. Anyone else noticed anything similar?
Great to see they included support for the original classic controller. It also displays far better on my TV than when I saw it at EuroGamer and in HMV the other day.
So how exactly are we supposed to play GameCube games on the Wii U? Many of Nintendo's own titles made extensive use of the analogue shoulder buttons and their unique 'digital click'. There simply isn't a current Wii U control method that could support Luigi's Mansion and Super Mario Sunshine. I imagine if they are going to do GameCube Virtual Console they will have to first release a pro controller 2, and they won't want to do that in a hurry because they have only just launched the first one.
Ok I had my suspicions but this pretty much confirms it. It's not a bug or a glitch. Nintendo has decideded to ban the viewing or purchase of all 18 rated content before a certain time each day to protect minors, regardless of the parental settings on the system.
I got this exact error message a few weeks ago when I tried to view an episode of Nintendo TV (UK) on the 3DS. That episode was rated 18 as well. Not sure if it fixed itself because I didn't bother trying again.
Do those chart positions for Nintendo Land and ZombiU take into account copies sold in the Wii U bundles, because I know in the past software packaged with hardware is not included.
@Sefton_d Nothing! Had a message from Tesco on Facebook earlier saying it should be still today, then another saying if its not today I will need to wait another 10! Looking on Twitter it seams some people have received theirs from Tesco this morning, someone even got one after he canceled his order last week because they could not guarantee delivery for launch! However we are not the only ones missing systems at this point… https://www.facebook.com/tesco/posts/444177418974728
@Pikminsi Well F-Zero is in Nintendo Land, that could be a good sign. Personally I hope they have Monster Games on the job, they did Excite Truck and Excitebots, and they have a lot of experience with racing games. They also did PilotWings Resort so Nintendo clearly trust them with their property.
@Pikminsi The interview is from Nintendo UK, unfortunately they don't get to decide what games actually get made for their systems. I want a new F-Zero as much as anyone, but I don't see it happening.
@Tsuchiya Actually I ordered it back in September when it was still Tesco Entertainment, then they merged with the Tesco Direct section on the website. Thing is I can't view the status of my old Entertainment orders now that part of the website has gone, but I have been assured all orders will be sent as normal.
"Dear Customer, Thank you for your recent pre-order for a Wii U console. You may have seen that Nintendo have confirmed a market wide shortage of stock for this product at launch. However we are pleased to confirm that we will be able to deliver your order on the release date of 30th November. We hope you enjoy your new Console!
Kind regards
Tesco Direct Customer Service "
ZombiU was despatched in the early hours yesterday but was not in todays post
@Dogmansp I imagine its all about keeping the high street retailers happy. If they were cheaper to download retailers would probably reduce the self space dedicated to Nintendo products, don't underestimate the importance of a visible presence on the high street. Nintendo probably aren't that fussed if digital sales are low at the moment, but at least they have the infrastructure in place ready for when the retailers go bust and everything goes download only.
@Tsuchiya Oh no thats even worse, two whole weeks without Zelda while everyone else is finishing the game already! I'm sure the wait won't be as bad this time around, I know if mine doesn't appear tomorrow there will be some angry phone calls to be made!
@Tsuchiya Where on earth did you order it from to get it two weeks early? I've heard of places breaking the street date by a few days but thats ridiculous! Was is imported?
I ordered mine from Tesco, no email yet to confirm it has been dispatched so I guess it will be tomorrow. Ordered my 3DS from there and it came a day early
Surely it's only 8-axis at best, the earth doesn't have a magnetic field radiating from the center so the GamePad won't be detecting relative altitude?
It worked really well in the panorama demo, or whatever they were calling it at Eurogamer expo. Hope they release these 'demos' on the eshop, but I guess the files would be pretty huge.
Let's face it, every house has a Wii at this point. To sell any more units Nintendo must target their existing customers. We've seen them takeover the living room, this is an attemp to conquer the kids bedroom.
They did not lie, it was in the small print in on on the European Nintendo Direct videos, its 10% off the price excluding any tax, and in the UK we pay 20% VAT.

Re: Pikmin 3 Will Need to Gather 3950MB to Download onto Your Wii U
@booker_steve Do you still get Nintendo Network premium points if you buy a GAME download code? I always wondered about that.
