I do not see Nintendo winning back any casual (gone) or hardcore gamers (since from last news NX seems another underpowered - no 3rd parties console again). Mario & co. Have lost appeal on the broad audience now (especially on teens) and Nintendo seems too slow to update itself to nowaday gaming standards. Do not forget that 2017 will also be tge year of PSVR, Neo and Scorpio....

All these factors let me think that NX won't sell big numbers again and that the target will be 3ds, WiiU and generally N fanboys.

It willbe an amazing results for Nintendo if they will be able to sell NX to every WiiU users and half of 3ds ones, and hybrid console aims at that...

Nothing really new or impressive from Nintendo.

Zelda will be a great open world rpg (very predictable) and there is basically nothing else interesting from N (also very well known before)

Whywe didn t get a Galaxy 3 on WiiU? Why Nintendo, why???

Good for Nintendo amd for Zelda that is a promising game. That said, it was the only interesting thing coming from Nintendo....

While not becoming mainstream during this generation, VR has come to stay this time. We have the tech and computational power to run it properly now. Whoever think is a fad either never tried it or is in denial mode.

There is no chance that the entertainment industry will miss what it will make the industry itself so close to a drug addiction...

@-Red- oh yeah.... I can see how an engine like the one of Horizon can be very beneficial for a game like Zelda

I am worried about this article. While no other Ubi game has been amnounced for NX (together with other platform) this one has been.... I really fear Nintendo is catering again the casual gamers (mostly long gone) ...

I would love a 3rd party Nintendo, with all its great franchises on console and pc, without the excessive entry price of a barely supported console....

It s a win win situation: Nintendo can sell to at least 100 millions users and we can save money...

Well I am curious to see how this Zelda looks, not very excited about the open world since we got plenty of it in games like elder scrolls, the witcher and dragon age.

I hope they will do something truly innovative and not only the same old story of Nintendo arriving 5 years late....

They started the WiiU era by showimg that Zelda tech demo many years ago and they are going to close it sadly by showing the same (supposed) game....

All that expectations and excitement for this console got lost, year after year...

The game looks nice but the voice is horrible, ruining the whole thing.
Still I feel that first the hype and then all these delays have seriously crashed this game.

I guess that at this point, the fact is that Nintendo is satisfying only its core fanbase, that, like it or not, is getting smaller each generation (Wii excluded for the reason we all know). WiiU has been a letdown for many (maybe not a majority, but a significant chunk) and it was clear, since 2015, that has become a "secondary" console for many, simply because the variety is not there. No sport games, no online games, no wrpg, no driving sim, no straegy games, no fps....

That is a sad reality. It would be very interesting if NL would make a pool to ask how many jumped to ps4 or xbox1 after purchasing a wiiU (count me in).

The recent lack of polish in releases and the huge amount of franchise forgotten this gen is not helping win people back. As I said, numbers don't lie.

Now, how will Nintendo recover the lost ground? Can they?

@SharkAttackU I do not think this is completely right. Not every game must have all that features. But in 2016 we are use to, content wise, A LOT more, for that price, especially if you own some other console/gaming pc....

What you can find in Star Fox Zero at the moment, you can find in hundreds of Indie titles that cost <19.90 $. One example? Galak-Z, rogue-like space shooter with tight control and great gameplay (damn hard too). Try it if you have the chance.

@Yorumi Yeah. I would like to get more into that stuff, but I have barely the time to play the games I want, no chance to get into level creation at the moment (while I will definitely try to make something on DOOM's SnapMap).

You are right, there are so many great example of excellence outside Nintendo world. Nintendo of late seem to me to be "behind" and not "in front" as many say here.....

@VanillaLake yes definitely. If you played the original Doom like me in the 90s you ll find yourself at home.

There are 5 difficulty levels (i guess they are called the same as original). I am playing at the third one, got at first bossfight and he is kicking my butt....

In the package you get a simple to use level editor a la MarioMaker. People are making interesting stuff with it: from reproducing a music band (!!!!???) to some coop horde mode with money after each wave to spend in upgrades.

MP is also there, and remind me of the old era of UTournament and quake arena, runnin fast, doublejumping around with your rocket launcher....

The game looks beautiful and has a "soulsborne" taste in it. It is definitely in my radar as well as Salt and Sanctuary.

Does this news means we will have a physical release too (not interested in the collectors edition)?

@andreoni79 Yes, it seems Platinum cannot keep a straight line in quality.... especially when we talk about other IPs then theirs. The only recent good one I can remember has been Transformers Devastation. Great combat, tight controls and loot-fair.

@VanillaLake it is more classic than other. You costantly run and move around jumping to avoid shots, no covers, no healt regen. I find it more hard than average game, I am dying a lot, more than in dark souls...

@gatorboi352 Doom is amazing. I am having a blast on my Ps4 they nailed the old school shooter mechanics with great coat of paint.

You know that if it was released on wiiU too, it would probably bomb, and the people would say "pfff another overrated brown gray shooter"

By reading all these comments, it is more and more clear that there is a rift between many Nintendo fans and the rest of the community, in the way games are evaluated, expectations, tastes and desires.

I can hardly see how nintendo can win back the people they lost in the last years, without withdrawing resources from what the N hardcore fanbase want.

When someone minimize about lack of 2016s features in a brand new game, it means we are really lying on different planes....

@VanillaLake exactly... I have wiiU almost since launch. At the beginning I bought almost all first party games and also third ones I was interested too. At the end of 2014 i got more than 15 retail games (plus some eshops). Since then the only WiiU game I bought has been Xenoblade Chronicles. Coincidence? I would say not, it was just that nothing interesting came out for me, only rushed games or party ones, amiibo mayhem, remasters and almost nothing else....not to talk about third party games.

Also, instead of tons of crap, they could have ported some good 3ds games on WiiU... Same dual screen concept. I would love a fire emblem on big screen instead of this gimmicky amibo fair

@rjejr if i was Nintendo now, I would realize that is too late and I would just care to empty my stock... So 199€ or $ all over the place, hoping that this will boost also software sales. Zelda or not Zelda, it is clear that WiiU is over, and the ongoing rumours about NX plus the software draught ain't gonna move consoles anymore

@SLIGEACH_EIRE same in Switzerland. 299 for a bundle pack. Also here, you can get a cheaper XBox one, and ps4 bundle is just 50 more expensive

It is in a week like this that I can see how far is my taste in gaming from japanese people...

How a sh##ty game like Homefront had a strongest launch than Doom is out of my cognitive abilities...

Maybe a decent online multiplayer would have helped.

Game seems to be mediocre at best and longevity wise is very short.

They really could have made it much better instead of rushing it.

@Kokusho you should take a look on Doom on console...it runs so smooth at 60 fps at 1080p. Technically is a marvel of an engine, the dynamic resolution allows tons of particle effects on ot, even on the poor ps4 hardware....

@Kokusho it is not true anymore that FPS are PC centric games.

In the last years almost every famous franchises sold better on console than pc. I can also tell you that a 2 years old game like BF4 still have a quite active online base on Ps4...

@Peach64 agree...and Valkyria Chronicles is also very good, especially if you loved, like me, Fire emblem style...

@SLIGEACH_EIRE Would havee been great if Nintendo ported Fire Emblem on WiiU.... The gamepad is made for Strategy games....

I am enjoying Valkirya Chronicles on Ps4 but I keep thinking that having the tactical map on the gamepad would make it a perfect game.

Id Soft nailed it. It makes me feel like I am 10 years old again...it is like playing the original with modern graphics, superfast pace and risk/reward perfect gunplay.

In the meantime on distant shore we got, in one week, Doom, Uncharted 4 and Valkyria Chronicles....

No surprise that WiiU don't sell at all...

and what about developing games for the consoles you sold us????

It s a pity cos with standard controls and online battles (i can imagine big arenas with spacecrafts, chickens and tanks, maybe coupling it with tower defense using Guard) would be excellent...

This Console is long way gone, abandoned by everyone, Nintendo included...

It will take soooo long before I will trust again Nintendo and NX, after being a WiiU owner and not having touched the console for almost a year.

I would suggest Galak Z now on ps4 and steam for am amazing roguelike 2d space shooter...

I want to physically posses the games. I got digital only when it is strongly discounted. Only digital is a no go for me.

Plus, you can trade in games in shops or exchange them with your friend...

I think they should go more for new franchises and concepts than overmilking the same old stuff like they do now....

Incredible. They have literally nothing to show at E3 while they are in huge need of hype and they keep delaying a game they were talking about since 2014 in order to lure people buying wiiU.... It is almost a scam. It won't be a wiiU exclusive, a swan song and a "thank you" to passiomate fans, but is another way they milked out the fanbase till the very last, just to lure them to buy the Nx showing how cooler will be.

They should have released Zelda in 2016 for wiiU, offering then a free upgrade to NX version when will be out.

I am done with Nintendo, it is a joke of the company it was.
