Sonic lost world was at least more inmovative than the tedious new super mario bros on wiiU.... Pity that it sold so badly... It was too hard and unique for the average player....
3rd parties do not sell well on Nintendo platform because N consoles are underpowered for some reasons (storage media/processing power) -> poor ports and because a lot of the fanbase are obsessed only about Nintendo games.
Saying so this NX smells so much of an android box to me -> N is aiming to smartphone casuals (this also explain the recent agreement with Dena) -> I smell failure fir this console... No hardcore gamer apart some Nintendo zealot will buy this.... Maybe is better, maybe in future we will get Nintendo games on every other platform so everyone will be happy, and I won t have to spend 300 euros for another Mario platformer anymore (console+game)
@CreativeWelshman #144 "So you want Nintendo to do what everyone else is doing which is make boring games that look and play the safe and just act as the middle child who gets ignored all the time?"
This legend that Nintendo is the paladin against the "boring and safe games from others" has to stop. It is simply not true. Since years now... Ever heard of Tearaway? Little Big Planet? Tomorrow Children? Sunset Overdrive? No man Sky??? And also, many game gendra are evolved becoming more complex and deep....
To me, it seems Nintendo liked the most to play it safe, having done another 2d mario, another Mario Kart, another Smash Bro, a remastered, another donkey Kong.... They are reusing the same stuff on and on.... great quality, yes, but in this way you just keep the fanbase that love jumping your platforms since the 80's.... you don't get any new users... It sound old fashion to the eyes of the new generations... and alone, with the "aficionados" fanbase, Nintendo simply has not the number to survive.... they have to innovate and go forward more then Sony and Microsoft.... the latters are already light years ahead, in term of variety, gameplay, multiplayer support....
I wouldn't underestimate that the "Hardcore Nintendo fanbase" is getting thinner... A lot of new "gamers" are not attracted to Mario as we were at our time (talking about the 90's here), they got their own "videogames heroes", they generally play online games and more visually "adult" ones.... they meet with friends playing FIFA and NBA....
And with the WiiU, there is absolutely nothing like that.... now, even Call of Duty isn't ported anymore....
@Cyberbotv2 I could simply answer "it got 92 on metacritic"... but I tell you, if you like difficut but honest games, good lore, dark athmosphere and a fast paced combat system, you are gonna like it. It is a bit like bayonetta combat but far more tactical and hard. Plus you got rpg mechanics (loots, character personalization in stats), a lenghty 40 h main campaign plus random generated dungeons, PvE and PvP.... I finished the game after sweating hard last week, I am already sink into new game+ and in the meantime I am enjoying the dungeon crawler part alone or with some friendos.... for me, is the Goty 2015. Check some gameplay and some guides.... but it is a must for any PS4 owner...
@Cyberbotv2 #133 exactly. And believe me or not, since I started the gen with WiiU and then moved to ps4 last august, already now you will get a great line-up of titles, and every possible game type is greatly represented. I am having so much fun jumping between sports game, racing, fighting, action adventures, gdr, co-op games.... you also get platformers and great selections of indie retro style. If you were stick to this site, you would think that there is nothing there except grey shooters.... I can tell you, since last year, the only ones I played were Destiny (mediocre, but with the multiplayer I got many friends online) and Far Cry 4 which is excellent (and definitely not grey). In the meantime, I played lenghtly masterpieces like Bloodborne (which is one of the best game of the decade for me), Dragon Age (a great wrpg), the Witcher 3, The last of us and I am currently sink into Dark Souls 2... you get everything, you get services and voice chat, a huge fanbase not at all only made of teenage-cryers and the certainty that the developers won't leave the ship, till its last day....
@bluedogrulez I am sorry to say, but splatoon is far away from being a goty contender.... maybe on multiplayer game or shooter.... but with Bloodborne, The Witcher 3, Batman, Star Wars Battlefront there is absolutely no chance....
...and sorry Reggie.... I could maybe understand this change of "e3 policy" if your close line-up is full of bombs and AAAA titles.... but jees, you came with partygame/moneygrabbing spinoff and a mario tennis!!!!! Do you have any, I say any little knowledge of the term "hype" "marketing" "advertising" in your heads? Do you really think that putting a Prime in front of a minigame make us open our wallet????
This company is becoming day after day a joke of itself....
So let me understand.... You wanna focus on short term games right? but at e3 2014 you showed ZeldaU being a 2015 game... now, it was e3 2015, and you do not show Zelda because it is for 2016? are you mocking us?
And also.... You got two "hopefully good" mature games for 2015: Devil's 3rd and Fatal Frame, why do not show them? are you so sure they will be blockbusters since you do not push them at all? TW101 did not teach you anything?.... obviously not..... (facepalming)
@Faruko me neither.... but don not underestimate one factor: dimensions... In the DS/3DS you got the two screen small and close together. You can keep both of them in your eyesight. With the WiiU this doesn't happened normally, as long as you don't wanna grow a pair of biceps like Schwarzenegger by keeping the pad up in front of you all the time.... Saying so, it is doable, but difficult, to implement the double screen setup in the same way as you did with DS family. And I agree with you, Nintendo did not get it.... and they also gave up pretty quickly, as almost all of their major releases do not use it....
A fire emblem game, and generally any strategic game, would have been greet with the double screen... a metroid game too, a mecha sim with the control panels on the small screen... or simply following the path of Ubisoft.... but they didn't....
1) Hyrule Warriors graphics looks a generation ahead of this, and can you see the disproportion of # of characters between the two games?
2) Graphics are not more important than gameplay.... in fact it seems that the experience is broken by having to use 2 screens.... while for a shooter like that you could have use just the tv screen as cockpit and the gamepad screen as console/indicators/cockpit secondary controls.... It would have improve the immersion and reduced the amount of processin power for the gamepad, enancing the visuals....
@Faruko clap clap clap... totally agree. I did not play affordable, but I also believe ZombiU was the highest peak of gamepad utilization.... together with murphy's level in Rayman.... another non-Nintendo Game....
It is admirable and sometimes truly mysterious how some fans can be happy (or drink whatever Nintendo pour into their throats) about an e3 like that....
To me, the day after, this conference tells me that the only one that doesn't love WiiU is Nintendo itself..... and also that they do not give a f**** on what their hyper-loyal fanbase ask them....
They are nailing the coffin of WiiU without clearly declare it, and trying in the meantime to milk the fanbase until the last coin, with DLCs, plastic Toys and silly games just made to milk us more and more....
I am done with this... I will get the 2/3 titles I wanna play that I still miss on the console and then farewell Nintendo...
@FLUX_CAPACITOR problem is 80% of those games were long ago announced.... SMTvsFE is even on radar since the WiiU Launch.... Yoshi has been talked about already during last e3 and I think it also got a direct.... same as Mario Maker (that hey, it is just an expensive editor after all....), Xenoblade is already in shops in Japan.... what we got about "Nintendo taking care of WiiU for the future" is a Tennis Game (yeppa), Starfox (nothing new again) and an Animal Crossing that, instead of beeing the definitive edition of AC for home console is a Party game (really? after WiiU party and MP 10 the best you can think is another one? when we would like to see a racer like F-Zero, a fps like Metroid, maybe just me, but I would love a new Mario Striker.....
And sorry.... but archiving everything with "Maybe they will show us something in the next future" does not work here... I am seeing facts.... facts are that in the biggest western worldwide gaming event you have shown absolutely nothing at all of new ideas... nothing that can make me (and so many with me) thinking about a bright future for WiiU.....
"I want to make another one".... to me sound they have absolutely nothing just now.... this is the Metroid we got for this generation..... Considering how long it takes for Nintendo to develop a first class game, I believe next metroid will probably show up in 2017/18 on whatever platform they will have at that time...
@Yorumi and a more objective fact: When in a e3 (biggest videogame conf of the planet) you got only 3 NEW games announced for a platform Mario Tennis, Just Dance 2016 and whatever AC is, considering your chronical lack of games, there is something wrong... very wrong
@FLUX_CAPACITOR whatever man. For you it is a fully 3d movement shooter, for me it is still on rails.... like starfox 64 and 3d before it.
For you it has a great graphics, for me the model of the ship counts barely hundred of polygons (talking about models, not textures).....
I am just saying that on one side you got photorealism, dynamic campaings, open worlds, massive online multiplayer battles, on the other we got "hey look, now you can transform yourself into a bipedal mech for certain levels... whoa".... uh, and no multiplayer modes....
It is just not appealing to the mass market... or at least not in the way to justify a console purchase.... like many other new (old) Nintendo games so far.... and this is maybe why WiiU sold even less than Vita.
I am telling you, I will probably get starfox after a consistent price drop.... but this is far away from what I expect from a (former?) AAA developer such Nintendo....
@FLUX_CAPACITOR I believe the problem of star fox is that is an arcade shooter... well crafted, of course, but an arcade shooter, as many you can find not only nowaday, but in the last 10-15 years. @Royalblues you really should... I am totally hooked.... into ng+ and still wanna play and play and play... fust paced, amazing graphics and environment, the combat is sooo satisfying.... GOTY for me...
@Royalblues Bloodborne made the deal for me... that game is freaking amazing.... Bayonetta meets dark souls.....
Plus Dragon Age, The witcher and Driveclub, one of the best arcade sim in years. Helldivers and Diablo III are hell of a fun on multiplayers..... and generally you always find somethng to play
