Re: Square Enix's Latest 3DS RPG Final Fantasy Explorers Won't Support Stereoscopic 3D

Game Freak are known for really poor programming. They were bad at creating a tile engine from the GBA days, and X and Y felt like 3D models strapped onto a (poor) 2D tile engine. Some of the town sections, such as Lumiose city were a prime example of this. It was inefficient, to say the least. It didn't even feel all that graphically impressive, yet still managed to lag in 3D. Incompetence!

The faceplates are really just a fad in my opinion, and if you've used an XL / LL before you may miss the large screens. If you've not, you should probably consider the smaller model, but keep in mind that big screens are something to consider as they really make a difference to play. The smaller model does have slightly larger screens than the original, though. I would say that if you really like big screens (or really really want them) it might be difficult to go to a smaller model, but if your heart is set on faceplates get the smaller version.

Or, I don't know, play it on a PC, on a version which happens to be superior to all of the console versions? I also don't see how Microsoft is any less likely to release it than Mojang were. They wouldn't stop supporting the other versions, since it would be disastrous for PR. Anyway, do what you will, buy this uninspired clone.

Re: Video: Début Footage of UCraft Aims to Show Minecraft Credentials

I don't really want a Minecraft clone. We ought to have an official release, not an un-original cop-out. I think these developers should build an original title, it doesn't really show much creativity just to build a clone. Seems more like a money-making scheme than an effort to build a good game. Still, if people buy it, who am I to fault them?

Yes, I'd like an original game, but I would like to play the older Fire Emblem games in English- fan translations are not of the highest quality. They could well be working on both, for all we know, but I imagine we'll get a remake on handheld and an original game on console. Or maybe the other way round? The New 3DS would make a game more in line graphically with PoR and RD possible. Aargh! I just want some announcement!

Game are awful. The only games they have in stock on their website are either the big games, rubbish film tie-ins, or preowned. Even if a game sells relatively well, they have it out of stock on their site (such as FE awakening), and they are always trying to peddle me download codes and first person shooters. Yet they have a monopoly on retail games. It's an injustice!

Re: Limited GameCube Controller Edition of Super Smash Bros. for Wii U Comes to Light

I dislike the fact that Nintendo wouldn't sell or support GameCube controllers when GC controllers actually had a purpose (playing GC games on wii), and now they're available for one game, and it's supposed to be this great console that they loved forever. I also dislike the fact that they took all the GC ports out because it was a dead console, now they charge extra for an adapter. I actually don't dislike the idea of using a GC controller, it just feels like a regression, considering it was two console generations ago. They should have just made GC controllers the controller for playing non-motion controlled games, then I wouldn't feel like this is a cynical money making exercise. It's hypocritical - GC was a massive flop, try to erase it from living memory, now it's great, GameCube was so popular and well loved by all that we absolutely must support it!

Re: Nintendo Rolling Out New In-Store Digital Distribution Service For The UK And Europe

ZenTurtle

There's still no major reason why we should buy downloads. Retail is cheaper, you can sell it back, and it can be played in multiple consoles. Why would we want to pay £39.99 for a download, when we can buy new or used in good condition for a quarter to a half off the asking price? It's stupid to buy games locked to any account, and Nintendo's crap where it's locked to your console means that if you lose it the games are still lost. Which defeats Nintendo's point about never losing a cartridge again. Digital is not the future, it's as archaic as it games can be.

I live in Britain, where can I actually buy those games for a descent price? Ebay prices happen to be utterly ridiculous.... Thanks anyway though, I'll look out for such games

I love the GameCube, so many great games- Wind Waker, Pikmin, Metroid Prime and of course the Game Boy Player. Worship it in all its beautiful purple glory. I have so many classics yet to play- FE Path of Radiance being one I should have played in the day - can anyone recommend me some unappreciated classics of theirs?
