Update:
Scandinavian Nintendo gamers will also be able to take advantage of this offer, with the region's distributor — Bergsala A/S — confirming the campaign for Denmark and the rest of the Nordics; details will be posted here. Hat-tip to Kenneth Jensen for the tip.
Original Article:
Nintendo of Europe has run a number of promotions in recent years that aim to reward customers with free retail downloads; that trend is continuing as we head towards the end of 2014. This time around the promotion is all about the 2DS / 3DS, which is ideal for those picking up new hardware or have simply forgotten — until now — to register their system on Club Nintendo.
There'll be seven games, from which you can choose one freebie, but let's start with what you need to register on Club Nintendo to qualify:
- A 2DS / 3DS / 3DS XL, registered between 11th September 2014 and 12th January 2015 (23:59 local time)
- Register a copy of Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS (released on 3rd October), or Pokémon Omega Ruby / Pokémon Alpha Sapphire (both released on 28th November) with Club Nintendo between 3rd October 2014 and 12th January 2015 (23:59 local time), and fill out the software registration survey – a required action if the copy of the game is purchased at retail, and is likely also necessary if you buy these games via the eShop..
Fulfilling both of those criteria will allow you to choose one of the following seven games on 3DS for free.
- Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate
- The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds
- Yoshi's New Island
- Kirby: Triple Deluxe
- Mario Golf: World Tour
- Mario Party: Island Tour
- Pokémon Art Academy
To avoid any confusion, this offer will apply in United Kingdom, Ireland, Germany, Austria, France, Spain, Italy, Belgium, the Netherlands, Portugal, Switzerland, South Africa, and Russia.
Are you planning to jump into this offer, European gamers?

Thank God I never registered my 3DS XL.
Woo.
BERSALA! shakes fist
Edit: No, only qualify for one.
Since I'd registered my 3DS back at its original launch and am in no hurry to buy a second (at least not until New 3DS' european release comes about), I'm afraid that I won't be able to take advantage of this offer.
Still, it's good for those who have yet to buy the console though.
Darn it mine is already registered, gotta love ninty and there promotions tho
Damn, these deals and new limited editions are making me not wait for the new 3DSes.
Oh no Nintendo, your not getting me like that. Unless the XL goes for under £100 (which I highly doubt it will), I have no intention of buying a console until the New 3DS.
Glad I saved my 2DS stars!
Wouldn't mind my own copy of ALBW... my cousin took his back before I completed it T_T
I'll be getting both Pokemon and Smash Bros so this is a great bonus.
@danielflugt
Bergsala confirmed this for Finland already!
@Andyliini Alright, allow me rephrase that then:
"Scandinavian branch of BERGSALA" shakes fist
Do you get two games if you register both Smash and Pokemon?
I have a quick question.
If I register the Nintendo 3ds and Smash Bros to my account, can we download it on my girlfriend 2ds or the download code is bond to the account to which the console/game had been registered?
Thanks!
@CloudBG You can use the download code on any console.
@C-Olimar Muchas gracias, sir! So she is getting Kirby, I am getting Smash Bros...happy family
@mateq
Probably not. Maybe if you register 2 3DSes. Wait for clarification though.
...but I intend to buy all 3 games AND a 2DS! I want 4 free games! XD
@SanderEvers - Beat me to it.
Pretty sure this is the 3rd year for the free game promo, and I think it's a great incentive. I know it helpled convince me to pull the trigger two years ago.
Sweet new saving my XL code would payoff but not sure which one I want.
No Sweden as usual...
I actually didn't register my system because I was waiting for a promotion like this. =D
If I've already registered my original 3DS, can I get the promotion if a buy a 3DS XL?
I hope NOA does a similar promotion. I've been holding off on registering my 3DS XL and Wii U to take advantage these "free game" offers. I managed to get Layton free in a previous deal, and if these games are offered in America, I'll be getting Link Between Worlds (I might need to get a new SD card though; my 16GB is finally getting full).
@Andyliini
Ihan oikeasti? Mahtavaa!
Already registered my consoles for past promotions -o-;
Not gonna complain, it's a great promotion and NoE is doing a very good job, but I would really prefer if they could restart make promotions based only on game registrations (or why not, allow to choose between registering a console or X number of recently released games).
Maybe the last times their promotions were based on games' registration only it costed them too much? >O>;;;
Without the looming New 3DS, I'd be in, but now that I know a new system is coming, I hesitate... a lot.
got mine second hand.
it's worth a try.
Wow, awesome promotion, those are good games
I really like how the MK8 deal only required you to register the game, not the console. Even if this does come to the US, I won't be able to do it. I really wanted A Link Between Worlds, too...
It is awesome news indeed, Bergsala with assistance from Nintendo is getting a little bit better at serving their Nordic customers. Now to decide is the game Zelda, Kirby or Yoshi.
Yes. Glad im gonna get 3DS XL in next month
Looking forward to this one coming State-side...
...I can dream, can't I?
@Frapp I agree. Lets hope the offer is a good one for those who are thinking about getting the new one.
@CloudBG
It's a code. You type it in to any eshop you want on any console. After all, you can have many 3DSs linked to a Club Nintendo account, so it wouldn't make sense to do it the way you said (and Nintendo don't allow you to, anyway).
@ZenTurtle Yep, I know one account have multiple 3DS/2DS but my gf 2DS have her own account and it`s linked to her acc and mail...and I will register the codes to my nintendo.co.uk account...that`s why I wasn`t sure can the code be applied to her acc...but now it`s all cleared:)
this just might seduce me to get a 2DS
Register where? Cause when I moved over here to Finland 4 years ago I wanted my UK club nintendo transfered and they told me that I couldn't and I had to close it. I had a mountain of stars built up too. So where the hell do I register my stuff then? Any help would be appreciated peeps. Thanks..
That reward's as good as mine! I'm getting an XL at the end of September/early October and Smash 3DS anyway, not sure whether to get Kirby Triple Deluxe or to try my luck that Island Tour isn't just another bad Mario Party game (the last awesome one was 5 imo).
Can someone confirm this for me plz. I own zelda on a card (physical game) if i get the online version of the game will my save file transfer to the digital one?
@Rockmirth Yes, there is an application on the eshop called "Save Data Transfer Tool" of which you can transfer any cart save data onto the corresponding digital version.
From these I want Zelda and Kirby but would like it to be physical and not a download, i'm not a download afficionado (only when it's necessary)
Also, hopes it comes to NA (since brazilian e-shop is based on the NA one in terms os releases and such)
Honestly I would suggest people holding off until the New 3DS comes out. It's just me tho.
They need to do a similar deal for Wii u in Europe try and shift some consoles give two free games away when you register between Nov-Jan 2015
While I do appreciate this, I have to say, if you own A Link Between Worlds then that list of games is not the best...
