Re: Sega Wants To Meet Fan Expectations, But Unsure About Inclusion Of Jet Set Radio In AGES Line

@ShadJV

Look, I never thought they were going to go completely by the polls because I doubt they'd put Boaty McBoatface or whatever in Smash. Up until I found out how long it takes to make a new character, I did think that they'd at least consider the more serious popular nominees and I imagine most of those were owned by Nintendo (look at how nuts people are going over Waluigi and he could probably just be done as a reskin), associated with Nintendo consoles, or associated with licensed characters already in the game.

Also, while I can see where licensing may be an issue, I don't get why Goku is constantly listed as one of the crazy troll options. He's a lot less out of place in a colorful chaotic cartoon fighting game than Solid Snake... or Bayonetta.

Rather not think about Shrek though. Wario is already one too many characters with fart-based attacks.

@Sabrewing

Bayonetta was the only one they claimed had anything to do with the vote and the phrasing* was odd enough that it's obvious that she wasn't the actual winner. Also they've also said it takes about a year to program characters so they were clearly going to put her in anyway.

(Though I guess you could argue that she's so broken because she was a rush job that wasn't properly balanced)

There is some speculation that some of the later DLC Mii costumes were among the actual winners.

*"Winner in European region". Not worldwide. Not Japan or America (their two biggest markets).

Edit: Not talking about Ultimate. I was talking about 4... because that's what they said the ballot was for.

Re: Guide: Upcoming Nintendo Switch Games And Accessories For September And October

@Moroboshi876 TWEWY price seems to be a placeholder. Everywhere else shows it as $49.99 now. Amazon even shows it at Fifty bucks now. Unfortunately they show that as the discounted price rather than the base price so my peorder is still $47.99 (20% off $59.99) and not $39.99 like it should be. They're probably unlikely to fix this since they just nixed the 20% Prime discount altogether this week.

Re: NVIDIA CEO Talks Up 'Incredible' Nintendo Switch

ZachBeacon

I think I'll wait to see if Nintendo actually supports this thing. It took ages for the Wii U to build up a decent games library and it looks like the switch doesn't have backwards compatibility to fall back on. Even if this thing is worth it, there's no guarantee we'll be able to get one; just look at the recent Amibo and NES Classic shortages

Re: Reggie Fils-Aime on Why the Wii U Was Misunderstood

ZachBeacon

The Wii U failed because...

1) Bad marketing. Most of us thought this was a Wii add-on before it came out. A lot of people still thought that for far to long after.

2) No third party support.

3) Very little first party support. Smash Bros was announced years before it came out. We're still waiting for the new Zelda. No real Animal Crossing game. No Metriod.

(At least MK8, Splatoon, and Pikman 3 all got same great updates)

The initial price didn't help either. I don't care about specs; i have a hard time telling Sony and Microsoft's current and last gen products apart anyway. I just want to play games. However if you're making a technically inferior machine then you should set the price lower.

Re: We Can't Release Virtual Console Games Any Faster As It Would Impact New Development, Says Iwata

ZachBeacon

So Microsoft can flip a switch and give people access to their purchases from the previous generation but Nintendo - the company that has been making games longest – can’t manage more than a show trickle even among the VC games that have already been emulated on the original Wii?

“Please understand, this thing we’ve been doing forever is suddenly just too difficult”.

Also, WHAT “new development”? We’re over half way into the year with only Splatoon to show for it. New development is so slow that most of the titles shown at this year’s E3 were revealed LAST year…and they probable won’t show up until next year.

Re: Poll: We Need to Talk About amiibo - Where Do You Stand?

ZachBeacon

I like the idea of Amiibo and have several of the commons (and Toad) but I think I’m done buying games that tie content to figures that I can’t get.

I enjoyed the Splatoon testfire but I’m not buying the game if I can’t get the squid-related missions.

I was looking forward to the new Fire Emblem but, after being introduced to the series with Awakening, I hate the idea of not having Lucina.

Re: Card Format amiibo Confirmed to be Heading our Way This Year

ZachBeacon

Nintendo has been really bad lately about keeping up with demand for physical products. I don’t have a lot of faith that they’ll do any better with cards than they have with New 3DS systems or gamecube adapters.

If they’re removing the figure aspect then they ought to just sell DLC keys that would unlock content in multiple 3ds and Wii U games at once. Of course that would require a unified account system and Nintendo is really reluctant to catch up with their competitors on that front.

Even if the can make enough cards, how are they going to be sold? In packs? Then you run into the rarity problem all over again because we all know more Marios than Marth’s will be made. Individually? Then the stores that didn’t order enough Villagers … still won’t order enough Villagers. That’s assuming stores stock these at all; I’m sure theft is a bigger problem for small items like cards than slightly larger items like toys in bulky packaging.

Re: Nintendo Download: 1st January (North America)

ZachBeacon

If the Must Haves thing is just a spotlight and not a sale then the smart thing would have been to feature them in December when people were deciding how to earn Deluxe Digital points.

January doesn't do anyone any good including NoA.
