If you’ve played any of the previous entries in Capcom’s insanely popular Monster Hunter series you’ll already know how ruthless the experience can be for first timers. Whilst newcomers are often eager to get their quest underway, it’s important to know the basics and exercise plenty of caution when in battle against wild beasts.
Capcom are more than aware of the steep learning curve and punishing nature featured in past Monster Hunter games, and have promised to make amends with Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate on the 3DS. To assist this process, demo codes have already been sent out on multiple occasions over the past week to Club Nintendo members via email, and now a post on the Capcom-Unity website offers 5 beginner tips to help first timers with the demo.
Capcom employee, Yuri Araujo, offers advice to help the next generation of hunters get the most out of their adventures. With tips ranging from what may appear obvious to veterans such as keeping an eye on the health meter during battle, to the complexities of mounting a monster.
So if the in-game tutorials included in the Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate demo aren’t enough, or are perhaps a little overwhelming on the small screen, head over to the Capcom-Unity website now.
Let us know in the comments how your playtime with the Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate demo has gone so far, and also be sure to share any spare codes you might have left with your fellow fans.

i played the demo a few times on biginner mode and found it very easy. and this is my first MH game(except the MH3 demo which i quit very fast because i didnt like it and couldnt get the hang of it). so im going to try the hard version of the demo and then decide if i want to buy it. but its pretty cool so far.

@3dcaleb Advanced Mode (Gore Magala) is no joke, especially in multiplayer lol. But I think you should give it a shot. The demo is cool but it doesn't offer you what the real game can. The real game is highly customizable, including your choice of armor, weapons, items and stats. Also remember that the health of the monsters are halved on the demo, which explains the easy beginner fight lol. Happy hunting
I find every MH tutorial to be really confusing as a newcomer. Capcom's are no different. Finally someone on Reddit found the best, in my eyes, MH beginner's tutorial. Its a 3 video series on Youtube, about 25 minutes, definitely worth a watch for everyone. Here's the Reddit post with the videos linked inside of it.
Hated MH3 demo, LOVING the MH4 demo. I'll get it for my b-day which is coming up.
Never got a demo code for this but looking forward to the game! Looks pretty fun!
European code, please!
I'm having a great time with the demo. Love the new area/terrain. February 13th is so far away!!!!
Tried the 3rd one a few times not my thing at all. Play the demo for 4 seems better but still not my kind of game.
However with that said I'm really hoping to find the mh4 new 3ds its way kool looking
Played the demo and hated it. I never cursed more at a game than this. I was hoping it would be more like Phantasy Star Online.
@audiobrainiac I feel the same bro, so far awayyy
I beat the Gore Magala on Experienced by myself in one attempt.. Had about 5 minutes left on the timer, but that's expected xD so far I've crushed him with the Charge Blade (new favorite), Switch Axe (old favorite), and Gun Lance (even older favorite). Going to try the Insect Glaive on him next.
@argh4430 well considering it's another Monster Hunter you should have at least known what to expect... Unless you've never heard of or played one before..
@Sm0k if you don't like the game I wouldn't recommend getting the system.... Because that'd be like me having a Call of Duty edition XB1 and hating Call of Duty (not that I'll ever own an XB1...).
Also I'd like to say, for you guys in NA like me, don't judge the game based off of how it plays on the regular 3DS if you want to get a New 3DS...
The MH4U demo is definitely an improvement on the MH3U demo, but as others mentioned, it is a tiny fraction of the full game. I got MH3U on sale and didn't get into it for a long time. I kept coming back to it in between game releases, and each time I "got it" a little more. The MH4U demo convinced me to go back to MH3U some more, and since then I've been a bit obsessed with the game.
Unfortunately, my favorite weapon is the bow, but it's very hard to kill big monsters with it solo in the allotted time.
Have had MH3 installed since I got it as a free bonus game last year, but couldn't bring myself to tackle it. Just happened to start again last night, to see if 4 is worth getting hyped for, or not. These tips couldn't come at a better time, as I'm clueless right now.
@B3ND3R Me too, beat Gore Magala first try solo with probably seconds on the clock, though I wasted the first 5 min trying out combos for the insect glaive.
In MP he's though though. Of course he's doing way more damage in multiplayer.
@earthboundlink Right. Bow ad bowgun are best for support roles.
There's nothing I value more than having a skilled gunner in my party, not only bombarding the enemy with all kinds of ammo, but scoring bullseye health shots from 100yds away right before you die, putting you right back in the action... I personally like to play semi-support with hunting horn, buffing my party all the while whompin away on the monster. Dual blade users sure do like that "negate stamina" melody...
@JaxonH I did Hunting Horn for awhile, but I'm trying to get through Moga Village in MH3U right now, and it seems that Bow, Bowgun, and Hunting Horn are just not very good for solo hunts. But I've done a lot of Moga Woods freehunting with the bow, and I can take out a Great Jaggi pretty quickly.
I thought maybe if I grind to upgrade my bow high enough I could do some real hunting with it, but it just takes too long for missions, and Cha Cha is not strong enough to be much help.
I'm considering dropping MH3U for the time being (I'm not that far in, I got the game on sale to test it out about a year and a half ago and never played it intensively until the last couple months) and cleansing my palette until MH4U comes out. I don't want to get too burned out on the franchise, because I am pumped for MH4U. I just wish the bow was a little more powerful, but the run, charge, aim, shoot, dive mechanic is a lot of fun to me. Just slashing and slashing with blades or wantonly swinging hammers and horns is boring to me.
@earthboundlink Well, the slime element bow in 3 Ultimate (think it was called the Kelbi bow) was one of the most powerful weapons in the game, damage per second-wise anyways. You could just spam attacks and the slime would trigger explosions after you built up x amount of it on the monster.
@JaxonH Thanks for the tip. I'm a long way from having what I need to build that puppy. It takes a really long time to build out a good weapon/armor set, and I just haven't been able to put in enough time yet.
I preordered it, but seriously doubt it will be near as good as 3 on Wii U.
Loving the demo so far, only problem is some players online don't understand that you aren't supposed to attack the monster when someone has mounted it :/
Anyone know where I can buy the Monster hunter bundle? Is it sold out?
Anyone please respond, I want to know what's available...

@rishisquid
Sold out in most places. You can place yourself on an Amazon waiting list, maybe you'll get lucky. There are a bunch of retailers still offering the bundle, but it varies from country to country. If you really want the bundle, eBay will be full with them day 1; half of these go to scalpers anyway. But lately I see an increase in "less professional" scalpers who get anxious when they don't sell their bundle within 2 days and prices will go down quickly. Pay $20 more than in retail, but have the exact n3ds you want.
@Boerewors Thanks, I'll probably just get a normal one
@rishisquid
Where u from? Maybe I know an online retailer. I made the mistake of getting a normal XL when I upgraded instead of the Pikachu edition I wanted but didn't pre order on time. I saw quite a few on eBay for just a few bucks more , but because of my hate of scalpers I couldn't give in to it and bought a regular XL. Because it wasn't my first choice I actually never liked it and hunted down a Pika 3ds in the end anyway.... The total costs of this endeavor being way higher than it would've been if I hadn't let my pride stand in the way of paying $20 extra in the first place. For handhelds more than homeconsoles, looks are pretty important. I own a regular n3ds now btw and pre ordered a MM n3ds XL, but my ambassador edition will most certainly be my main: the size is surprisingly good and the screen looks so sharp and crisp compared to the "old" XL. And looks wise you're set, the cover plates are really an awesome touch which I never thought I'd like... But it's been 2 weeks and I own 7 sets already
So guys, I'm new to this site but I've been using PushSquare for a while so...Hi everyone
I've been looking EVERYWHERE for some european codes and I can't seem to get one :/
Can anyone help a brother out, please? I would be so grateful...
Is the only way to play the demo by getting a code? Why? I never get these codes...
Hey guys I really want to play this demo but I can't check my email because I stopped paying for Comcast mail. I have had a shitty day and all I want is to play this demo so if any of you can spare one that would be a supper nice thing and I'd appreciate it a lot. The email is [email protected], Have a good night.
@Shamrock1992
Did you try? When I switched from Comcast to Wave they kept my email active for about a month or so. Anyway, I hope you get it at least, I'm certainly not having any luck.
it's been a while so I'm guessing they deactivated it by now. But it's still my Club Nintendo email so we just gotta roll with the punches haha
@Boerewors
Thank you:)) you are great!
@Boerewors Thanks, I'm US btw. I think I'll try to find one for just a little more like you said. I mean, I don't care THAT much, but the Monster hunter bundle is the coolest one, ya know?. Thanks
Hooray for Monster Hunter! Can't wait for the 13th of February!
Have some codes...
